Chapter 167
“…… You’ll get filed a lawsuit and go under if you do business like that.”
“So are you going to file a lawsuit against me or something?”
“No, but I’m hoping you give me another one of these vans. With the same options as this one.”
“Is that so? Then it can’t be helped.”
An Gyu-bum’s expression brightened at my answer.
I opened my mouth with a smirk.
“Get off.”
“…… What?”
“There wouldn’t have been a need for you to get into this car if I didn’t let you on in the first place. From my perspective, I let you on while risking the danger. But you’re using that as a weakness to hand over another van? What do you call this again……? Saving a person from the water only to…….”
“Ah. I saw that on the news some time ago. Someone saved a drowning woman but she filed a lawsuit saying he touched her breasts right?”
Edward said.
What the hell was this guy watching?
“…… It’s not that. Either way, get off or not, the choice is up to you.”
“Shameless bastard. Must you really come out like that?”
“Instead, I won’t receive payment for saving you.”
“Deal.”
An Gyu-bum nodded.
I almost thought that this guy started talking about the van because he was aiming for this as he agreed too easily.
Business with this guy is always like this.
I was definitely on the profiting side but there was a bad aftertaste for some reason.
An Gyu-bum opened his mouth.
“What about Baek Gyeong?”
“Still there.”
I had confirmed this through an eagle.
“It seems like they’re not going to give up on us that easily.”
“Those guys need the ruin data as well after all.”
It became impossible for Baek Gyeong to transfer the data after his head got cut off. Also, it was currently in An Gyu-bum’s hands right now. Thinking about it, I feel like I gave it away a bit too cheaply but there was a lot to rip off of this guy from now on so I decided to leave it at that for now.
“It would be difficult to go up on shore like this so I think it would be better to return by crossing the ocean instead. Thinking about the speed on water it will probably take quite a while though.”
“It can’t be helped. Leaving that aside, did you still not find the identity of the guy that fired the missiles?”
“Don’t rush me. I’m still sending them even if you don’t ask.”
I thought that it wouldn’t be enough with just one no matter how I thought about it, so I sent out all the eagles I had. Almost a hundred eagles were roaming the New Alaskan coastal waters.
However, I was still unable to find out the identity of the one that fired the missiles.
If the possibility of it being a jet is eliminated then it was something impossible.
If it was a ship it would have been discovered by now.
There was no place to hide on the ocean after all.
Unless they were hidden underwater like us.
I let out a sigh and lightly shook my head. Why did I finally realize this.
“Give me a second.”
As I opened the van door chilly ocean wind swept into the van. An Gyu-bum frowned.
“What are you trying to do?”
“Hm…… What would be good I wonder.”
I took out a huge chunk of meat from the van. I had brought it along since I didn’t have to worry about it rotting in a place as cold as New Alaska.
I tied a string to it and threw it into the ocean.
A chunk of meat that weighed over 10 kilograms got sucked into the ocean. I calmly waited for the string to get pulled after loosening it.
An Gyu-bum opened his mouth.
“What in the world……?”
“I’m trying to fish a bit.”
“I don’t think this is the time to idly fish. And do you really think it’s enough to just tie some meat to a string?”
“It would be difficult if it was a normal fish. But wouldn’t a monster be different?”
“A monster?”
“Anymore is a company secret so don’t ask.”
“No way. Are you trying to tame it?”
I’m trying to kill it and use it as my summons to be exact. Well, it’s not that different when looking at it from a broad perspective.
I didn’t expect them to bite as soon as I threw the meat in. It’s said that there are many monsters in the ocean but the ocean is large in the first place after all.
I was trying to rest lazily by leaning on the driver’s seat when the string suddenly got pulled tightly.
“Already?”
I pulled the string with great force.
What I was holding right now was made by twisting rope so it definitely wasn’t sloppy. As an object with Kevlar fiber in it it can hold up a metal ball that weighs several tons in terms of tensile force.
Of course, it was uncertain whether it would be possible to fish it up like real fishing since it doesn’t have a hook.
But what I wanted was to lure it in the first place.
“Haaah!”
I gathered all the strength in my body and pulled on the string.
At that, a giant shrimp jumped up while breaking through the water surface.
No, it’s not a shrimp but a……
Giant Seahorse (1) : Hunts using its sharp mouth. Able to move quickly in water.
“A seahorse?”
It did have a bent back like a shrimp but it’s mosquito like long and thin mouth, lattice patterned shell, and the fins that stuck out a bit was much more like that of a seahorse.
If there was a difference, it would be that it’s mouth is sharp like a spear. That had come up while pierced into the half frozen meat.
For a monster with such a small mouth to greed after meat.
The monster that was in midair shook its fins as if they were wings to tilt its direction towards me.
It was doing a lot despite being mere fish.
It was still only a level 1 monster. I was now capable of killing it easier than breathing.
“Keeek!”
I sent the Dancing Sword and made its back get folded in half. Transparent liquid spouted out from it with an expected cry. It seems its blood was transparent being a marine product and all.
[+100]
An item nor an ore dropped but I didn’t really care.
What’s important is that I caught a ocean monster.
I took out a bunch of items from the item list. They were items I got from the North Korean Autonomous Region and New Alaska.
I had attempted this before as well but the level of a monster was always dependant on the level of the item.
In other words, even if I had information on a level 1 monster, if I used a level 3 item a level 3 monster would come out. Of course, the efficiency isn’t that good.
Since low level monster lack special abilities compared to high level ones.
I used the Golden Ring on all the items in the item list. 30 Giant Seahorses got created in an instant.
They were varied between level 1 and level 5.
As I shoved all of those into the ocean, An Gyu-bum who was watching that opened his mouth.
“So you can summon after killing one and obtaining its information. I’m surprised.”
“This is an ability you can’t buy with money.”
“Even I know that much. A skill is much more difficult to create compared to items. Of course, I do believe that is a problem that will be solved soon…….”
An Gyu-bum muttered something on his own and then raised his head to continue talking.
“Can you stop by our research laboratory some time?”
“I refuse.”
“How much do you want?”
“Is it money no matter what it is? I won’t go no matter how much you give me so get that into your head.”
“Why so?”
“Well. Cause I don’t know what you might do to me there. What aspect of you am I supposed to trust to enter a tiger’s den?”
“I’m not going to do any human body dissection though. I just need to draw some of your blood and take a few pictures after going into a few machines.”
“I’m telling you that I don’t want to enter those machines you dimwit.”
It could be safe as this guy said. But it might not be so. There was no need to do something dangerous.
And the security would be really tight if it’s the GE Group research laboratory making it a piece of cake to trap someone at my level.
“That’s a shame.”
Looking at how he was smacking his lips while talking I felt even more reluctant to go.
I thought that I would have meet this guy in a place full of people no matter what.
After waiting for about two hours since releasing the seahorses.
A level 5 Giant Seahorse raised its head next to the van.
“Are you telling me to follow you?”
“Kieee!”
The monster’s long and thin cylindrical mouth opened vertically like a bird’s beak.
After following it for a while I sensed something weird.
It was as if electricity was flowing below my feet.
It wasn’t like I could feel electromagnetic waves or something like a normal person which meant that a massive amount of electromagnetic waves were spread around the area.
“It seems this is the place.”
The seahorse wasn’t going any further.
I decided to wait a bit. It wasn’t like I could swim even if I entered the ocean and I thought it would appear on its own if there was something there.
Then.
The van slowly started rising into midair.
There was no need to even lean out the window.
The figure of a massive submarine rising from the water surface could be seen from the windshield after all.
“As expected.”
“A submarine huh…….”
“What is it? Is there such a fish?”
Edward said with wide eyes.
Thinking about it, this guy never saw a submarine before.
“It’s like a ship that travels underwater.”
“For a ship to travel underwater. Humans are quite impressive.”
“Either way, there’s quite a lot I want to ask?”
An Gyu-bum said. I had similar thoughts.
The thing I was most curious about. How were they able to operate a submarine under the ocean.
It would sink even if they met a level 1 monster after it makes a hole on the side and it wasn’t like they would be willing to go around risking their lives.
The answer to that question got solved pretty easily.
I called the eagles to recover them but they didn’t come close to the van.
They have to follow my command but they can’t approach so they were going up and down over and over again.
I turned my head to look at Edward.
He opened his mouth with a lightly crumpled expression at my stare.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Are you alright? It seems like monsters aren’t able to approach this submarine.”
“I believe I said that I’m not a monster though.”
“Is that so…….”
Seeing how he actually isn’t being affected, I understand that there is a difference. I suppose races with intelligence is different.
I rode the Dancing Sword to retrieve the monsters in the distance.
Around the time I finished that up.
A hatch opened on the other side of the submarine and people that seemed to be soldiers could be seen.
Since the submarine was over 100 meters long, it seemed like it would be better for us to go to them than them walking all the way here so we rode the van on the black submarine.
A submarine of this size should actually be a nuke submarine.
We got in front of the dozen soldiers lined up before getting off the van.
The lieutenant colonel looking person started talking once our members got off and I put the van into the manual.
“I am Lieutenant Colonel Reagan. We should have a lot of curiosities about each other so let’s talk about the details in the submarine.”
“Is it okay to allow civilians on a place like this?”
An Gyu-bum asked.
“Since you’re still alive after getting hit by that, you’re more than qualified to board this.”
Lieutenant Colonel Reagan shrugged.
These guys didn’t care about whether we lived or not in the first place.
