Eternity Starts From His Seed

Chapter 114: Clean House (2)

“Your ancestor! Where did such a fierce outer disciple pop out from?!”

“Don’t hold back any longer! Attack with full strength! Or we’ll all be put down here!”

“Charge!” “Get him!” “Fireball technique!”

A flaming ball of fire rocketed through the air once more, but Bubai simply “walked” out of its range without much effort on his part. During the process, he even had the leisure to batter the melee members in his path!

This was the downside of ranged techniques in the Qi-refinement stage. It was too difficult to land on any cultivator with decent movement speed.

Instead, there were more sinister and deadly ranged methods that Bubai had to pay heed to.

Suddenly, Bubai grabbed the knife of another fighter, and with a tug, he snatched it from man’s grip. Twirling it expertly, the knife fluidly danced through the air and deflected three sneaky projectiles!

Clang! Clang! Clang! Three small metal darts clattered to the ground, each exhibiting a dried purple sheen. Poison!

Though Bubai’s body was resilient, it wasn’t completely immune to cuts and penetrations.

Fortunately, such superficial and small wounds matter not as they might even visibly heal on the spot thanks to his current regeneration abilities.

However, it was a different matter when poison entered the equation.

Many of these poisons were extracted from venomous creatures, and some were even concocted by pill refiners during their part time job as an apothecary.

So, they weren’t something to underestimate, even for a Foundation Establishment cultivator!

Unless Bubai became an apothecary and had a thorough grasp of the field of poison, it was not possible to know which poison actually pose a threat to him.

Thus, rather than risk exposure, it was best to just avoid them all at this stage.

Bubai's sharp eyes zeroed in on the unassuming late-stage Qi-refiner responsible for the poisoned darts.

The man shot him a scowl before attempting to blend back into the crowd, hoping to escape Bubai's notice.

However, Bubai's divine sense had already marked the target. There was no hiding because the entire battlefield unfolded in his mind like a 3D mapped terrain from a bird's eye view!

Stamping on the ground, Bubai swiftly broke away from the cannon fodder closing in on him, darting toward his target.

“Stop him!” “Don’t let him escape!”

He’s not escaping, silly.

Bam! With a sweep of his leg, he flipped an incoming attacker like a patty, slamming him into the ground. “Oof!”

Chaining the sweep with another kick, he sent another man flying like a bowling ball- Strike! A domino effect ensued, knocking over those blocking his way!

Whoosh! With nimble footsteps, he skimmed over the small hill of bodies, closing in on the clever late-stage Qi-refiner who had already slipped away from the group!

Sensing his rapid approach, the man turned with a sneer, both hands shooting darts in rapid succession!

Swish! Clang! Clang! Clang! The knife in Bubai’s hands was brandished, accurately deflecting the darts peppering him, all while advancing forward in the process!

Witnessing his darts failing to even delay Bubai, the man's face twisted with a mix of shock and fear, showing his cowardice by taking a few steps backward.

Of course, these couple of steps didn’t help at all with his escape.

However, just when he was about to enter Bubai's attack range, the scared expression transformed into a sneer.

At the same moment, Bubai's eyes flitted over to the side, where another late-stage Qi-refiner had rushed up, his mouth already puffed up...

Fwoom! A stream of fire gushed out from the man’s mouth, accurately obstructing Bubai’s path!

Executing a peculiar footstep pattern, Bubai abruptly halted just before colliding with the oncoming stream of fire.

In a seamless motion, Bubai adjusted his angle and swerved to the side, the transition so smooth that it seemed as if he had never paused in the first place!

For a moment, Bubai thought this was enough to dodge the fire-breathing attack-

Unexpectedly, Bubai found the stream of fire tracking him relentlessly as the man adjusted his aim simply by turning his head!

What’s this? He thought this was a cultivation world! How come it’s becoming more and more like a certain ninja world?!

Clang! Clang! Clang! Bubai waved his knife, precisely deflecting the darts that shot through the veil of fire to attack him from a tricky angle!

Sneaky bugger. If it was a normal Qi-refiner, they might have fallen for this trick already.

Too bad spiritual sense and divine sense were the counters to sneak attacks like this.

However, this attack still caused a brief pause that allowed the stream of fire to catch up!

Bubai instantly felt the flames from the fire lick his arms! He felt a slight sting from it, his arms heating up as if basking in the desert heat, indicating that the fire had not left him unscathed!

However, through his divine sense, Bubai noticed barely any damage to his resilient skin, and the light scald was constantly healed thanks to his natural regeneration capabilities, even quicker than the burn damage itself…

Merlin’s beard, did he become like a certain “beater” from that trapped in a game anime?

Still, regardless of how overpowered he seemed, the heat of this fire was not to be underestimated.

While a Foundation Establishment cultivator's body possessed innate defense against Qi, it wasn't impervious to all damage.

Without specialized defensive techniques or a focus on body refinement, weapons and elemental-based attacks, such as fire or lightning, could still inflict hefty damage.

Based on his knowledge, a normal undefended body would have suffered at least second-degree burns from this fire!

Bubai, however, benefited from the strangely heightened defense granted by his green Qi's nourishment.

As a result, the only noticeable damage this fire caused was the scorches on the ragged outfit he “borrowed”.

Of course, Bubai wasn’t silly enough to stand in place to let the fire ruin his outfit. He didn’t want to dance naked… at least not here.

Whoosh. Retreating out of the fire’s attack range, Bubai scrutinized the two fighters with a playful smile.

The stream of fire eventually tapered out, leaving the fire-breathing man gasping for breath as he distanced himself from Bubai, “Your ancestor! Even that didn’t work! Could he have practiced a special perception technique and iron skin?! Or is he a body refiner?”

The dart-wielding man had already turned and fled, yelling toward his companion, “Fool! Isn’t it obvious by now?! Run!”

The gasps abruptly paused as realization dawned on the fire-breathing man, horror reflecting in his eyes when he faced the rapidly approaching Bubai, “You are-”

Oom! A flurry of swift jabs landed on the man’s body, each strike precisely targeting various acupuncture points!

Feeling the Qi penetrating his body and damaging his internal organs, the man took a couple of faltering steps back, spitting out a mouthful of blood before crumpling to his knees, groaning in pain.

Yet, despite his agony, he still mustered the strength to kowtow repeatedly, “T-thank you senior for sparing little one- cough-”

Bubai turned away, his sharp gaze landing on the dart thrower making a hasty escape in the distance.

Locking onto the man with his divine sense, Bubai’s foot dug into the ground, and with an abrupt pivot, he hurled the knife in his hand like a baseball!

Swoosh! The blade sliced through the air, precisely burying itself into the legs of the fleeing man only moments later!

“Arghhhh!” The man tumbled to the ground like a puppet having its strings cut.

Struggling to rise, he turned back only to see Bubai who had already appeared near him, “Senior! Mercy! I was only forced by the situation!”

Bubai raised his leg, and slammed it down onto the man’s hand! Crack!

“Umph-” The man suppressed his own cry of pain, sweat oozing out of his forehead as he forced out a wry smile, “S-Senior, I-I can explain-”

Swoosh! The foot rose up, delivering an upper cut to the man’s chin, snapping his head back and knocking him out.

As the unconscious man’s hand relaxed, it revealed the red powder clutched in his palms.

“These tricks never get old.” Bubai shook his head, turning his gaze toward the remaining cannon fodder - many frozen in place while some intuitive ones were already making a break for it.

“Well, let’s clean them up.”

With a light tap, Bubai’s figure flickered and vanished.

Breaking out and showcasing some of his real capacity, Bubai left no room for escape for these Qi-refiners who didn’t even saturate their body.

It was a total smackdown, akin to a high-level player abusing low-level noobs.

There wasn’t much fun or thrill in the process.

Of course, Bubai wasn’t one to derive enjoyment from competing against the weak.

Just like farming low-level mob in a game, the engagement here was still beneficial for Bubai because all of this was training for the Inner Sect Exchange without the risk of endangering his life.

While deadly combat would probably offer quicker improvement and appeal to those who sought to walk the path of the strong, Bubai favored a more stable style.

His lifespan was long, and there was no need for death fights unless absolutely necessary. So, it was better to train safely, and these low-level cultivators were the best practice dummies.

Only with lower-level opponents can he have the leisure to control his strength and avoid a fatal fight.

Of course, Bubai understood the proverb “enough ants can kill an elephant” still applied to Foundation Establishment cultivators.

The Foundation Establishment realm hadn’t reached the stage of invincibility and overwhelming numbers of Qi-refiners could still pose a threat. If Bubai really fought the gang head-on, he might really capsize in the gutter.

So, he maximized his own abilities to sneak into the base first to clear away most of the members, lowering the difficulty to a level he judged to be conductive for his training.

The rest was a foregone conclusion.

After wiping his bloody hand on the dirty rags of Old Kou, Bubai searched his body, adding another two strings of copper coins to his collection before he nonchalantly tossed the man aside like a ragdoll.

Turning around, his gaze scanned the battlefield, where all the gang members either lay unconscious or writhed on the ground, groaning in pain.

Just in case, Bubai’s divine sense mapped out the surroundings once more, “Well, that should be the last one.”

Hoisting the still-unconscious gang leader over his shoulder, Bubai set off from the battlefield.

It was finally time for interrogation and… to count his spoils.
