Chapter 3: I am going to divorce you
Josie's face turned red as she knew that Ari was mocking them for undermining her reaction to Ariel and Noah kissing each other. In fact, they knew what they were doing was wrong, but who asked Ari to steal Noah from Ariel by emotionally blackmailing Ariel and chasing her away the day before the wedding?
If Ari hadn't done so, Ariel would have become the rightful Mrs Nelson, one who was accepted by them as well as Noah. No one wanted this worthless trash to carry the title of Mrs Nelson anyway.
When Josie thought about it, whatever guilt she felt vanished and she raised her head haughtily, "Did we do anything wrong? Everyone knows how you got your way with Noah... If not for your shamelessness, there was no way you could become his wife. Now that you have to face the consequences, you feel unjust?"
Behind Noah, Ariel hid a mocking smile. She wanted to teach her sister a good lesson for stealing her man. However, Ariel did not expect her plan to go this well as everyone else helped to scold her.
"That's right," Ryan wiped the blood that was trickling down his nostrils and glared at Ari with disgust and contempt. "It's you who was in the wrong to begin with. As a woman who shamelessly snatches someone's lover, you deserve to suffer consequences!"
Ari, who knew the truth, felt like crying in indignation, but she did not say anything nor did she cry. It wasn't her who stole her sister's lover, it was her sister who stole everything from her but no one believed her!
When Ryan saw that Ari was not answering, he felt emboldened. He thought that he had finally caught hold of Ari's weakness and decided to torment Ari even more. Did she think that just because three years had passed by no one remembered her shamelessness?
He curled his lips mockingly and then sneered coldly, "What's wrong? Why are you looking so tense? Are you the only one who is allowed to act shamelessly and no one else is allowed to give you a reality slap? You should be glad that Noah actually respected his vows with you and did not sleep with Ariel. An evil woman like you does not deserve such respect."
Ari finally snapped. She raised her head and glared back at Ryan before saying mockingly, "No wonder Leila did not let you back in her life. A worthless scum who thinks that emotionally cheating on your wife is fine also does not deserve any forgiveness."
Ryan's eyes darkened, the copper red turned into a shade of dark brown as he stepped forward.
"ARIANA!" However before he could attack Ari, Noah shouted and glared at Ari. " How much are you going to embarrass me? Ariel told you, didn't she? This was a game. Why are you making a fuss?"
"I am making a fuss?" Ari felt like she was going to be sick. She whipped her head and looked at Noah. Was he trying to blame this matter on her as well? How could he act so calmly when he was the one who was caught kissing another woman!? When he refused to touch her or hold her! His actual wife!
She scoffed in disbelief before blinking her tears away. She demanded, "Oh yeah, tell me how I am making a fuss? Should I clap my hands and say 'well done'?! Or should I go outside and kiss a man? How will you like it?" She tilted her head side to side before taking a threatening step forward.
"How dare you! Have you forgotten that you are Mrs Nelson——"
SPLASH!
No sooner did Noah finish speaking, Ari picked up the glass of whisky and threw it straight at Noah, drenching his face and suit with whiskey.
"Oh, so you woke up? I thought that you were so drunk that you forgot that you were married," Ari snickered even though her heart was tearing in half.
Don't cry.
Don't cry.
Control.
Patience.
'You are in control, everything is fine'.
She chanted her mantra and calmed her broken heart. She took another step and stabbed her finger sharply into Noah's chest, wishing she could make him bleed until he could feel the pain that she was feeling.
"I did not know that Mister Nelson was a hypocritical bastard. You are allowed to kiss another woman, my sister at that! But I cannot kiss any other man? Why? You won't fulfil your vows so why? TELL ME WHY!" Ari screamed at Noah. She wanted to ask him why he was doing this to her, why couldn't he look at her.
What did she do so wrong in his eyes?
She glared at him and snarled, "Your mother did not want me to practise medicine, so I gave up my career as a doctor. To pay for this anniversary dinner, I lowered my head and worked as a waitress, because you don't even give me living expenses. Only for you…" She stabbed her sharpened nail in Noah's chest again. "I did it all for you, so why did you have to do this to me!"
However, she might as well have spoken her grievances to a wall. Her husband was completely unmoved by her words. Instead, he looked at her as if she was a worm he needed to squash.
He silently took out a black card and then raised it in front of her, "In the end, It's still about money, right? Here. Take this and get lost."
Noah threw his card in her face.
Ari stared blankly at the credit card that had fallen on the floor and felt something snap inside of her. The black ink which was pooling inside her heart poured out and bubbled until it consumed her heart and soul. Until it was flowing in her veins itself.
SLAP!
Noah had a look of disbelief etched on his face as he raised his hand and touched his stinging cheek. He blinked his eyes, and the ringing in his ears slowly faded away. He couldn't hear any of Ariel's words of concern.
His eyes were focused on Ari whose eyes were looking at him with just as much hatred as she once looked at him with affection.
"You…"
"I am going to divorce you."
