Chapter 157: Tower of Trials 3rd Floor
His actions were a tempest of lethal precision, honing in on crucial individuals - a shaman uttering a malevolent incantation, a war chief issuing authoritative commands.
As each orc met their demise, a wave of terror swept through the village, escalating the panic to unprecedented levels. The orcs, accustomed to relying on sheer strength and predictable strategies, found themselves disoriented and destabilized by this enigmatic assailant, silently and systematically eliminating them, one by one.
However, Noah was not impervious to harm. The diminishing mana within him served as a constant reminder of the limitations of his telekinetic abilities. The burn, so familiar to him, reminded Noah that he couldn't sustain his relentless assault indefinitely. His energy was finite, and he knew that he couldn't maintain this level of intensity forever.
Therefore he decided to end this fight for good.
Using the Night of Death to plunge the whole village into darkness, true to his class the Angel of Death, Noah went on killing spree, killing everything in sight, it truly an hellish sight.
After a mere twenty minutes, the once-thriving orc village was reduced to mere ruins. Thick plumes of smoke engulfed the remnants of the partially demolished houses, bearing witness to the utter devastation that had unfolded. Not a single being was spared from the merciless slaughter that had befallen them.
[Ding! You have level up!]
This announcement couldn't be more sweet.
''Statut window!" Noah called out after catching his breath.

''Time to conclude on the 3rd floor.'' he moved forward.
Stepping through the shimmering portal, Noah's eyes were assaulted by an unrelenting whiteness. The entire room, floor to impossibly high ceiling, was painted a sterile, blinding white. It felt like stepping into a blank canvas, the air itself tinged with a faint hum of static.
In the center of this vast emptiness, a single, stark feature broke the monotony: a throne. Crafted from a polished obsidian so black it seemed to consume the surrounding light, it sat like a monstrous jewel on the room's pristine floor. And upon the throne, a sight unlike any Noah had ever encountered.
It was a Minotaur, a grotesque fusion of man and bull. Its massive body rippled with muscle, its fur a shade of inky black that mirrored the throne. The head, however, was where the true horror resided. Where a human face should have been, a monstrous bull's head glowered. Razor-sharp horns, each thicker than Noah's arm, curved back from its skull.
Blood-red eyes, devoid of pupils, stared out with an intelligence both ancient and malevolent. A thick ring of bronze pierced its bovine nose, a single heavy chain disappearing down the back of the throne, hinting at some unseen restraint.
The air around the Minotaur crackled with a barely contained power. It sat perfectly still, yet Noah could feel the weight of its gaze, a crushing pressure that threatened to pin him to the spot.
''!"
The silence in the room was heavy with anticipation, broken only by the ragged sound of Noah's own breath.
'This is the guardian of the 3rd floor? This is not going to be easy, he is at least B rank monster.' Noah quickly assessed.
[Ding! A new, additional challenge awaits you - emerge victorious in this battle without relying on your swordsmanship or any of your unique abilities.
Reward: 7000 Gold.
Note: you can choose to refuse this mission and finish the original one.]
Suddenly the Minotaur, it rose from its obsidian throne with a tremor that seemed to shake the very air. Then, with a bestial snort, it raised a single, impossibly large arm. In its hand, an axe materialized – not a weapon, but a monument to violence. Its head was a crescent moon of black iron, the edges serrated like a butcher's cleaver.
It gleamed under the white light, reflecting a cold, murderous glint.
Before Noah could even blink, the Minotaur hurled the axe with a roar that echoed through the room. It was a blur of death, a dark streak against the blinding white. The speed was unreal – one moment the axe was in the creature's hand, the next it was hurtling towards Noah's chest.
But thanks to his heightened senses, the world seemed to slow. The roar became a drawn-out bellow, the axe's trajectory a lazy arc. In that stretched instant, Noah reacted with the fluidity of a predator. He dropped like a stone, his body blurring towards the floor.
Swoosh!
The wind of the passing axe ruffled his hair as it slammed into the white wall behind him with a thunderous boom.
BOOM!
Debris rained down like a hailstorm,
Chu! Chu! Chu!
But Noah was already rolling, dodging the falling shrapnel in a practiced maneuver.
From his crouched position, he saw the Minotaur. The beast bellowed again, enraged by its missed strike. It lowered its head, horns scraping the ground as it prepared to charge. But then, it froze. Hovering in the air, just above its massive head, a swarm of debris shimmered – the remnants of the shattered wall.
Hundreds of jagged stones, broken bricks, and twisted metal fragments hung suspended, their edges glinting with deadly promise.
A low growl rumbled from Noah's chest.
"Now it's my turn," he muttered, his voice laced with a dangerous edge. With a flick of his mind, the debris surged forward. No longer a harmless cloud of dust, they transformed into a lethal storm, aimed at the Minotaur's exposed flank. The beast roared again, a sound that shook the throne, but it was too late to seek cover.
With a thunderous crash, the shrapnel rained down upon the Minotaur, the force enough to send tremors through the very white expanse of the room.
The white room echoed with the Minotaur's enraged bellow and the clattering of debris. Dust swirled, momentarily obscuring the beast from view. Noah watched, his mind stretched taut with concentration, a bead of sweat tracing a path down his temple. Had it worked?
As the dust settled, a horrifying sight met his eyes. The Minotaur stood defiant, its black fur bristling. The debris had inflicted damage – gashes ran across its hide, rivulets of blood trickled down its massive legs. But the beast was far from defeated. Its eyes, glowing like embers in the sterile whiteness, burned with renewed fury.
The silence hung heavy for a moment before the Minotaur charged. The ground trembled with each thunderous footfall, sending tremors that vibrated through Noah's very bones. The beast wasn't aiming for a frontal assault this time. With surprising agility for its size, it swerved, aiming to slam its massive shoulder into the wall, hoping to create a breach and escape the confines of the room.
Noah reacted instinctively. He didn't have the reserves to maintain another barrage like the first one. But he could still manipulate the battlefield. He focused on the floor directly in front of the charging Minotaur, willing the smooth white tiles to shift. With a sickening scrape, a section of the floor lurched upwards, forming a sudden, three-foot wall.
The Minotaur, caught completely off guard, slammed into the unexpected obstacle. It bellowed in pain, its momentum thrown off. The blow sent a tremor through the improvised wall, threatening to topple it. But it held, forcing the Minotaur to veer off course.
Instead of escaping, the beast found itself trapped in the center of the room, its rage momentarily replaced by a flicker of confusion. It turned its fiery gaze towards Noah, the ground shaking under its weight.
Noah knew this was only a temporary reprieve. The Minotaur was wounded but far from vanquished. He needed to strike again, and this time, he needed to make it count. He cast his eyes around the room, searching for his next advantage. His gaze fell on the throne, its obsidian surface reflecting the blinding white like a dark mirror.
Perhaps, the key to defeating the beast lay not just in brute force, but in exploiting its environment.
