DxD 0070: Meeting the Emissaries
After a lovely time in the bath with Sona, Abaddon and herself both got dressed up and got on with their day. Sona left to take care of her Student Council duties while Abaddon decided to… He didn’t have anything to do so he decided to laze around in the Occult Research Club.
“Don’t you have to train or something?” Rias asked annoyedly as she looked at Abaddon. He was lying on the couch with his head in Akeno’s lap as she brushed his hair with an amused smile.
“If I seriously trained, I’d already be far stronger than I am right now.” He commented.
“Ugh…” Rias groaned annoyedly as he was practically keeping Akeno to himself. It wasn’t too much of a problem but she needed Akeno to help her with some work and he wasn’t letting her go.
“Can’t you at least let Akeno go for a few minutes? Just until she can help me finish up here.” Rias tried to bargain.
“Nope.” Abaddon went a step further and turned his face toward Akeno’s stomach and wrapped his arms around her waist as he nuzzled her stomach. Akeno let out a ticklish giggle as she felt his actions.
“What if someone else takes her place?” Rias offered.
“I don’t mind. But I need someone to be my pillow.” He was adamant about the lap pillow.
“Fine fine. Kiba can give you a lap pillow. Akeno, come here.” Rias said with an expectant smile on her face.
“NO!” “No!” Abaddon and Kiba shouted at the same time. That prompted both Rias and Akeno to laugh.
“You think you’re funny, huh?” Abaddon sat up and looked at his cousin with a threatening expression, “Let’s see if you’re laughing the same after I spank you like a spoiled brat in front of your peerage.”
Rias shivered as she saw his expression and said, “No no… I’m sorry okay? I won’t say anything. I can take care of things myself.” She gave in.
“Was that so hard?” Abaddon smiled with satisfaction and lay back in Akeno’s lap.
Rias shook her head with an annoyed expression and got to work.
“How about I help out Rias-san?” Asia offered to Rias.
“Do you want to give Abaddon a lap pillow?” Rias asked confusedly to which Asia got a blush and said, “N-no… I meant with the paperwork…”
“Oh… Not really, Akeno is familiar with most of the paperwork so she’s easily able to help me, but you are new and don’t know much yet. Maybe after a couple of weeks after you’ve adjusted better.” She told Asia with a kind smile.
The rest of the morning went by without much incident as by the time afternoon came by, the two emissaries of the church were here.
…
“Hello. My name is Xenovia Quarta.” A busty girl with short blue hair said.
“And I’m Irina Shido.” Her companion said. She had light brown hair that was long enough to go down to her butt. Both of them were wearing white priest robes that loosely covered them up.
“Why would servants of God desire to meet with a Devil?” Rias asked. She was sitting on the couch that was opposite the one that the two girls were sitting on. The rest of Rias’ peerage was standing behind her couch as they looked at the two girls with neutral expressions. It was a simple and basic intimidation tactic that would make the other party tense up at least a bit, but Abaddon’s presence put a hamper on that plan.
He was lying on the couch with his head in Rias’ lap, directly on her supple thighs as he snored peacefully.
“Well… Although one of them is yet to be found, six out of the seven Excaliburs are with the three main divisions of the church,” Irina explained as Xenovia continued after her. “But recently, we have come to know that three of them have been stolen by Fallen Angels, leaving only three with the church.”
“Stolen by Fallen Angels, you say…” Rias trailed off with a stoic expression.
“These are from the ones that we have left…” Xenovia showed a huge sword that was wrapped in bandages. The handle had what seemed like dual axes extending out from its two sides. “This is the Holy Sword of Destruction, Excalibur Destruction.”
“And this is mine, the Holy Sword of Mimicry, Excalibur Mimic.” Irina pulled up a part of the robe that was covering her arm and showed a string of flowers tied around her bicep.
“So, what is it that you would like us to do?” Rias asked them after seeing their little display.
“This is a problem between us and the Fallen Angels. We would like you to stay out of it.” Xenovia said flatly.
“You sound awfully condescending.” Rias narrowed her eyes slightly, “Do you think we would side with the Fallen Angels and keep you from obtaining the Holy Swords?” Rias said with a calm tone. Though it was more of a suppressed calm.
“Devils despise Holy Swords,” Xenovia said with an expression of superiority, “It’s only natural that you side with Fallen Angels.”
Rias’ eyes glowed crimson with the presence of her Power of Destruction as she said, “This is my territory, fanatics.” She said with derision, “The territory of the house of Gremory. Do you think your words have any weight in what transpires here?”
“If you truly oppose us, then we will have no choice but to destroy you,” Xenovia said with a still flat tone, “Regardless of whether you’re the sister of the Maou or not.”
Rias suddenly laughed out loud, “Yeah? Your measly threats will do nothing to change my mind. Honestly, you fanatics really live in your own little world, don’t you?” Rias shook her head, “Leave. I will not be meddling in the conflict as long as it does not cause unnecessary commotion in my territory. I will not be seeing you off.”
“Doesn’t matter. That’s what the higher-ups wanted and we’ve achieved our goal,” Xenovia didn’t react to Rias’ words. She and Irina stood up and were making their way to the door when Xenovia turned to look at Asia, “You’re Asia Argento, right?”
Asia seemed a little jumpy and looked at Xenovia questioningly.
“It makes sense that I’d run into a witch here…” Xenovia said. Asia flinched at her words and Irina continued, “Oh, you’re that ex-nun that became a witch? You were banished because you could heal any living creature and even healed devils, right? You must be pretty strong…” Irina said cheerfully. She didn’t seem to be able to read Asia’s uncomfortable expression and acted bubbly as usual as if it wasn’t a big deal.
“I… Um…” Asia was tongue-tied and didn’t know what to say.
“To think that a saint has become a devil. Nobody’s perfect I suppose…” Xenovia said as she looked at Asia condescendingly.
Rias was about to react with a blast of Destruction energy at Xenovia’s face, but something stopped her. A hand was clasping her arm and stopping her from getting up. She looked down and saw Abaddon’s face which had a little smile. He signaled to her with his eyes to not intervene. Rias understood that Asia had to face the truth or she would keep running away from reality.
“Do you still believe in god, Asia?” Xenovia asked her.
“Don’t be silly, Xenovia. She’s a Devil. She’s probably over it by now.” Irina said to Xenovia.
“Some blasphemers certain some of their faith in the midst of their selfish actions. I sense that she might be one of them?” Xenovia said.
“Is that true Asia? Do you still believe in the lord even though you’re a devil?” Irina asked in a completely contrasting tone to Xenovia.
‘Either this chick can’t read the room like some airhead, or she’s just an asshole… She could also be a dumbfuck who’s trying to play the good cop a bit too zealously and failing badly…’ Abaddon had a thing or two to say to Irina.
“I… I do believe… I’ve believed in God my whole life…” Asia said with a tiny voice as she looked down with tears falling out of her eyes.
“In that case, let us execute you this instant. Though your sins are immeasurable, if you sacrifice your soul to him, he will forgive you.” Xenovia’s words took a sudden turn as she took a step toward Asia who was just frozen.
“You will be convicted by my hand…” Xenovia was about to keep going but suddenly, she felt a weight disappear from her back.
“Huh?!” She turned around and saw the man who was sleeping in Rias’ lap holding her Excaliber Destruction in his left hand that was covered by a red gauntlet.
“An Excalibur, huh?” Abaddon said as he examined it.
“Give that back!” Xenovia said agitatedly as she approached Abaddon aggressively. “No, I don’t think I will…” Abaddon laughed as before Xenovia could even react, she felt an impact on her stomach that made her eyes bulge out and cough out saliva. She kneeled on the ground in pain as she tightly held her stomach.
“Honestly, you church dogs are really dumb, aren’t you?” Abaddon chuckled as he swirled the sword in his hand while a red glow appeared on the sword and the bandages on it disappeared.
