Taen told her wife what happened, while Lyra listened. They didn't realize that their daughter also listened, even though she had been asleep the entire afternoon.
"I can't visit the garrison?"
"Because I failed to control your actions while you were pregnant with Merla, you endangered her life, and caused us to lose her." Taen finally said what was on her mind.
"But I saved you!"
"Wrong. You saved no one. You lost Merla. That sword would have gone through my leg, not my heart." Taen growled. "You are not allowed to leave the village while pregnant, unless we are forced to evacuate. You are not allowed to approach the garrison."
"I see. Hey!" Lyra felt the firm grip of her wife's hand on her chin.
"You don't see. You still won't submit, even though it is a part of your nature. You accepted the bands, but not the behavior." Lyra blushed brightly.
"You're a soldier. I don't went to appear weak to you." She said in a soft voice.
"I was a soldier. I've been stripped of my rank." Taen said firmly. "My actions have prevented a proper response for twenty years, while your actions caused us a greater loss. The Consort's word is that if they knew, we would be prevented from raising Merla now." Lyra hissed.
"Don't hiss at me!" Taen said. "Our combined actions caused Merla pain. Of course they are angry. I can only imagine how angry Duality is." Merla's eyes began to glow, and her hands reached up to grasp Taen's tusks again. She pulled herself up, while she poured manna into Taen's body, and repaired her manna veins even further.
"Stop." Merla said in a vibrating voice. "No argue. Done is done. Mommas obey Big Momma. No argue. Obey." She slowly eased up on the manna flow, and snuggled in to Taen's chest.
"Mommas protect Merla. Momma protect momma. Obey momma." Taen sniffed, and hugged Merla gently to her chest.
"Okay, baby. I'll protect Merla, and Lyra. I'll obey Mother Queen, and make sure she doesn't lose your sister. I'll make sure she's safe." Taen said. Lyra rubbed her eyes, to wipe away the tears that wanted to fall.
"I'll obey, baby." She pressed Merla between herself and Taen's chest. "I'll behave as I should, like a momma." Merla smiled, and rubbed her face on their chests.
"Take Merla see Meena? Make shower for Meena?" Lyra listened and looked at Taen.
"Your manna veins are still nearly full. How are you going to empty them properly as you get bigger?" Taen asked her gently. Merla grinned.
"Fill showers. Do lots. Learn lots." Merla grinned. "Momma look better. No angry eyes." Lyra looked at Taen, and nodded.
"You do look better. The intensity has disappeared, and your color is better." Lyra looked down as she saw her wife shimmy a bit. "You bad girl. Wait until tonight." Taen was feeling so good, her libido had grown, and her member had come out.
"Merla sleep Meena. Mommas say sorry." Merla grinned. "Say sorry all night." Lyra blushed.
"Now I know where she gets it from."
* * *
"Hello, Meena." Taen said as she set Merla on the counter.
"Meena!" Merla called out and flipped backwards to try to get into her arms. Meena rushed forward and stopped her with her belly. "Hahaha!" Merla giggled.
"She wants us to spend tonight together, and spend time with you." Taen rubbed Merla's belly. "Don't forget the shower, Merla. You need to drain your manna veins a little bit more."
"Okay, momma. Be nice, momma. No argue." Merla said.
"I promise, baby. Be good tonight." Taen left, while Meena lifted Merla into her arms. Merla grinned, slipped her arms under the fabric of her robe, and hugged her.
"Where place Meena wash?" Merla asked. Meena held her and walked into the side room.
"I bathe here, Merla." Meena said. Merla nodded, and pointed. She moved around so that she placed her back to Meena's chest.
"Move close post." Meena obeyed, and waited. "Fleur Speeng." The post moved, grew a flower head with holes, and a small amount of water dripped out. "Flower shower. Fill manna, water." Merla touched the button, and put a bit of manna into the button. Water flowed out of the flower head, just like a shower on Earth.
"Oh my. You can make artifacts!" Meena said in awe. Merla squirmed in her arms, so she looked down.
"Turn Merla. Face Meena." Meena obeyed and turned her around in her hug. "Meena belong Merla." She laid her face on Meena's large chest, and sighed. "Meena heart make Merla happy."
"Be good, little Merla." Meena said softly, and hugged her. "You're still so young, but I will wait for you." Merla smiled up at her, and put her hands on the tops of Meena's chest.
"Take Merla to tree. Add more manna to Meena home." Meena smiled gently.
"Our home. Our future home when you grow up." Meena said, and watched as Merla smiled really wide. Meena felt her belly flex as she saw two small lumps at the bottom of Merla's lower lip, on the inside.
A telltale sign that Merla was about to grow a set of tusks. She would be the first dual gendered orc in over a thousand years, the last one being their Mother Queen.
Not for the first time, Meena saw silvery gossamer threads extend from Merla's body, and rise high into the sky.
With a core the size of an adult fanger, manna veins as thick as Lady Lixiss, talent for magical expressions and making artifacts, as well as a strong duality of her soul, Merla was not just a unique orc.
Merla was someone chosen by Duality, their twin goddesses. For what, Meena couldn't even begin to guess.
* * *
"Did she behave herself?" Lyra asked as she picked Merla up off the counter the next morning. Merla looked at both her parents, and grinned.
"She did. You have to trust her to behave. She may be of age for a human, but she's an orc, and doesn't have those desires yet." Meena said. She parted her robe. "However, she didn't let me go to sleep without adding a new decoration." In the upper portion of her left breast, a thin band of silver thread could be seen.
"Why did she choose silver?" Lyra asked, and lifted Meena's breast so she could see the band as it wrapped around her breast. Merla pouted.
"Lix got gold. Meena belong Merla, not Big Momma." Merla said in a small voice.
"You respected Mother Queen's choice to use gold?" Lyra asked. Merla nodded.
"Lix special Big Momma. Meena special Merla." Merla said, and rubbed her face on her mother's chest, then frowned. "No new thread?" Lyra grimaced.
"Her manna veins haven't been fully repaired, baby." Lyra said. "I didn't want her to stress her body until she's fully healed."
"Momma healed. Use make strong. Not use, weaken. Like muscle." Merla said, and her eyes began to glow with a white light. "I invest heavily in the ones I love." Lyra's jaw dropped, as did Meena's.
Merla's speech was so clear, and unlike an orc child that it sent shivers right into their manna cores. The duality of Merla's soul was visible, if only for a few seconds, but it was enough to shock them.
Who was she really, and why did their goddesses entrust Merla to their care?
