Chapter 27: Pandora’s Box

That “boss” tried to push away the person on him, only to find that his rival was uncommonly strong and was heavily pressing against his body. He could clearly sense that his blood was madly running into his rival’s mouth through that wound on his neck.
That was some horrible experience!
He opened his mouth to scream, but made no sound because his neck was fiercely bitten.
Desperation spread in his mind. He was caught off-guard by such a sudden attack, and now he was defenseless; at last, he could feel his heartbeats slowing down and he had no more strength to struggle. He started rolling his eyes and widening his mouth.
“Ah…Ah…”
A weak sound came out brokenly from his mouth. Finally, this last sound died out. His body began to shrivel, and his skin was wizened like an old man aged 70 or 80.
Su Bai was hungry, really hungry. When a person was starving to extremes, everything would fade away, including morals and insanity.
“Poof…”
Su Bai exhaled with satisfaction. Then he raised his head to look at the man in front of him, the guy who was almost mummified by him at a stretch.
This was his first blood sucking, his first time drinking from a living person.
Su Bai knew well that he had opened the Pandora’s box; the feeling of feeding on fresh human blood, the feeling of the victim struggling desperately… Su Bai was fascinated and indulged… and he was totally into it.
Closing his eyes, Su Bai felt that satisfaction after the hunger disappeared. As if all his cells were hurrahing. Such feeling was so wonderful!
The blood color in his pupils started to fade out. Su Bai slowly got up with one hand against the floor and the other over his forehead.
He took a deep breath. The dead body in front of him could cause no fear or worry at all. Unknowingly, Su Bai’s mindset was completely stripped off from his original life.
Death, ghosts… these terrible stuff beyond common people’s reach were unable to irritate Su Bai’s nerves.
Walking to the bathroom, Su Bai opened the glass door. That college girl that was tied up with her eyes covered and mouth gagged instinctively shivered; though she could not see what was going on outside, she could sense a fear by instinct.
The “boss” had made that desperate sounds before death; she had heard that. She had no idea what happened, but she could know one thing for sure: something terrible happened, and she was probably next!
Su Bai looked at his face in the mirror; he opened his mouth and found blood all over his teeth, so he turned on the tap, wiped his lips and rinsed his mouth.
After cleaning himself up, Su Bai stood in front of the tap and looked at the floor. He had left traces everywhere. He knew that the police could easily find his DNA and other detailed clues here.
In that case, even if Chu Zhao was willing to help him, he would not get away with it. If his family had to clean up this mess for him, even if they suffered patiently and silently because he was still a member of the Su family, he, as a kid that only a mother could love, would definitely became a real hoodoo or jinx of the family.
Su Bai touched his jaw with his palm. He hated that feeling so much. But what should he do with all this mess?
First of all, what about this college girl?
He turned around to look at her. She was tiny, sort of delicate and would be pretty good-looking with a make-up. Good for a hooker.
Kill her?
She wasn’t a decent lady anyway.
But Su Bai shook his head. He was not mysophobic about morality and didn’t consider those who live on selling their own bodies as depraved or perverse. This couldn’t provide him a good reason to kill her. Besides, Su Bai suddenly felt that his thoughts had been going to extremes; the first solution came to his mind was killing.
This was not a normal way of thinking. If Su Bai was to continue living in this society instead of hiding in some drains like a shady rat, his thoughts must come back to normal when he was in a normal condition.
What was more important was that Su Bai was well fed now. Once a person was full, he would become disgusted with the food in front of him.
Su Bai looked around, struggling with whether he should burn down the whole room or get rid of the body. At last, he chose the latter because it was not practical to burn down a room; the managing staff in the hotel would soon notice it and the fire would be soon put down.
However, in a different strain of thoughts, it could be handled easily.
Su Bai took the towel in the bathroom, wetted it a little and started to clean up.
Luckily, while Su Bai was drinking fresh blood, he was not splashing blood everywhere like a child trying to eat by himself, so there weren’t many places which needed cleaning. He cleaned up the obvious bloodstains; as for fingerprints, Su Bai didn’t bother. He packed up all the stuff of the “boss”. He had a black briefcase which Su Bai could use for packing.
The girl’s purse and cellphone were put in front of the girl.
Then Su Bai crouched down in front of her and said in a lowered voice:
“Pretend nothing had happened. Understood?”
The girl immediately began nodding constantly.
“He’s dead.” Su Bai said.
The girl was shocked. Although she had already expected the result based on her feelings and the sounds from before, when she heard it clearly, she was still so scared that her face turned pale at once.
“I won’t kill you, but you have to stay away from any trouble. Consider a day for no business today. No, wait, there’s some cash in his wallet.”
Su Bai took out some cash from that briefcase and threw it in front of the girl. The bills scattered on the girl in a very ironic way.
His hand patted on the girl’s face.
Well, it was pretty tender.
That would make a farewell. Then Su Bai untied the rope around the girl’s hands. Afterward, he stood up, carried that dead body of the “boss” on his shoulder, opened the door and slammed the door with strength. Then he quietly went to the window, climbed over as before and got back to his own room.
About a quarter of an hour after Su Bai left, the girl picked up her courage and tore off the black tape on her eyes little by little. Seeing she was indeed the only one in the room, the girl rapidly untied the rope around her legs, took off the stuff in her mouth, stood up and moved her limp legs. She immediately put her purse and cellphone into her handbag. Then, after a little hesitation, she picked up all the scattered bills and put them into her handbag as well.
Finally, she opened the door, took the key card and quickly ran out of the room.
In the lobby, the girl check out with that key card, pretending that nothing had ever happened and then left the hotel. After she was out of that hotel, she began weeping while walking toward her school with her head lowered. This was a nightmare that she must forget.
In the next room, Su Bai was lying on the bad listening to the sounds of the girl leaving. After half an hour, everything had blown over.
Su Bai took a cigarette, lit it up and smiled to the body under his bed:
“See, nowadays, college students are not as fragile as it’s reported in news, are they?”
