Douluo Dalu: From Shinobi to Spirit Master

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Martial Soul: Chakra

A sharp shattering sound reverberated across the venue.

Under the stunned gaze of the crowd, the crystal ball beneath Su Chen's hand exploded into countless fragments, scattering across the awakening platform.

The awakening elder, closest to the incident, instinctively stepped back, his face pale. In that brief moment, he felt an incomparably potent energy ripple through the area. The soul power in his body felt suppressed, as if cowed by a far superior force, akin to prey before a natural predator.

But how could such a thing be possible?

The murmurs of disbelief rippled through the audience. The awakening elder wiped the cold sweat from his brow, his gaze toward Su Chen now tinged with unease.

Perhaps there's a problem with the crystal ball?

Even as he tried to rationalize the event, he knew this was highly improbable. The tools used for such ceremonies were meticulously crafted and rigorously tested.

"Try this one," he said, retrieving another crystal ball. Unlike the previous one, this ball exuded a purer transparency, clearly of superior quality.

Su Chen gave a small nod and placed his hand on it.

Buzz!

An intense hum filled the air as the crystal ball lit up with a radiance that consumed the entire platform. The dazzling brilliance was blinding, casting the stage in a light that resembled a second sun.

"What's going on?!"

Shouts erupted as the front-row spectators shielded their eyes, while those standing further away squinted in shock, their curiosity and fear mounting.

And then, it escalated.

Boom!

A cyclone of energy erupted from the platform, swirling violently as the brilliance of the light converged. From within, an enormous energy phantom began to manifest, its presence spreading across the venue like a tidal wave.

Hair and clothes whipped in the storm. Every soul master present felt their soul power recoil instinctively, trembling as though in the presence of an insurmountable force.

Even the natural world seemed to respond. Nearby trees and flowers swayed and stretched their branches toward the vortex, as if reveling in the abundant energy.

The crowd, however, was too terrified to notice the reaction of nature. Their wide-eyed stares were fixed on the massive cocoon of light at the platform's center.

"What kind of martial soul is this?" someone whispered, their voice tinged with awe and disbelief.

Amidst the chaos, Su Chen felt a deep sense of comfort.

His body, mind, and soul were immersed in a boundless stream of chakra. He felt his strength surge, his body rejuvenated, and even old, lingering aches from rigorous training faded away.

"Hah..."

Su Chen clenched his fists, his face serene as he enjoyed the newfound sensation of power.

This was a feeling he hadn't experienced since his previous life in the Naruto world. Though the strength he currently possessed was nowhere near his former peak, he was confident that with time, he could surpass even that.

Focusing his mind, Su Chen willed his chakra to gather in his palm.

Buzz!

An orb of visible, tangible energy formed in his hand, shifting and morphing fluidly. Looking at the familiar sphere of energy, Su Chen's lips curled into a faint smile.

As expected, his martial soul was chakra—a unique energy entirely separate from the Douluo Continent's soul power system.

The Three Basic Techniques, Shadow Clone, Rasengan, and even Flying Thunder God—all of these incredible abilities from his past life were now within reach once again.

But wait...

When Su Chen attempted to form a one-handed seal, his chakra suddenly dispersed at the last step, dissipating into nothingness.

"Why?" he murmured, frowning.

Could it be a compatibility issue between chakra and soul power? Or was it the absence of a soul ring holding him back?

He felt the two energy systems were not entirely independent; there was a subtle connection between them. The specifics, however, would only become clear after obtaining his first soul ring and formally stepping into the realm of soul masters.

"Hah."

Satisfied with his awakening, Su Chen opened his eyes, only to find the entire venue staring at him as though he were a monster.

The boys and girls who had been standing nearby had all moved several steps away, and the elder responsible for spirit awakening was clutching his head, trembling uncontrollably.

The awakening ceremony had fallen into dead silence.

The worst affected was Hu Liena, who had not gone far. Curious about the commotion, she stopped and even took a few steps back toward the awakening platform. Unlike the elder responsible for spirit awakening, Hu Liena lacked the strength to withstand the overwhelming energy. Her delicate face turned pale as paper, and she collapsed not far from Su Chen.

"Uh, what's going on?"

Su Chen helped steady the elder, who looked visibly shaken, before moving to assist Hu Liena. Lifting her gently, he injected a stream of chakra into her body.

"Mmm~"

A faint moan escaped Hu Liena's lips as her pale complexion regained some color. Her long lashes fluttered, and her bright eyes opened to meet Su Chen's gaze, which carried a trace of concern.

"How do you feel?"

Su Chen asked softly.

Hu Liena blinked, her face flushing pink, and she struggled to stand on her own. Her voice was barely above a whisper.

"I-I'm fine."

Huh?

Su Chen raised an eyebrow, looking at the embarrassed girl in slight confusion. He wasn't asking about her health but rather how she felt when his chakra entered her body. However, Hu Liena's shy reaction made it clear she had misunderstood.

Despite her lack of a detailed response, Su Chen noted something important: his chakra seemed to suppress soul power temporarily and could even stabilize it when disrupted. This revelation might prove useful in the future.

At that moment, the elder responsible for spirit awakening finally regained his composure. Shaking off his earlier shock, he grabbed Su Chen's arm, his eyes wide with excitement.

"Innate full soul power! You have innate full soul power!"

The elder's excitement was understandable. Two extraordinary cases had appeared in a single day: Hu Liena with innate level 9.5 soul power, followed by Su Chen, whose full soul power came alongside an unknown but overwhelmingly powerful martial soul.

His mind raced with possibilities. Even the saint and the current Supreme Pontiff hadn't caused such an awe-inspiring phenomenon during their own awakenings!

Still trembling slightly, the elder handed Hu Liena over to Su Chen, asking him to help her off the platform. As he watched the two walk away, the elder's eyes gleamed with pride and anticipation.

"These two will undoubtedly become pillars of the Spirit Hall one day!"

"Next!"

He called out energetically, signaling the continuation of the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Su Chen continued questioning Hu Liena about her experience with chakra. However, her responses were limited to blushes and mumbled words, leaving him bewildered by what she might have misunderstood.

Unbeknownst to Su Chen, among the boys and girls scattered across the ground, a red-haired figure clenched his fists tightly, eyes burning with envy and determination.
