Douluo Continent: Beginning with Signing in with Yan Lingji

Chapter 101: Chapter 101: The Worried Zhu Zhuqing

"Ulterior motives?" Zhao Ming smiled and bent down, looking at Dai Mubai with a grin. "Do you think there's such a thing as a free lunch?"

Dai Mubai's expression darkened upon hearing Zhao Ming's words.

Zhao Ming was right—there's no such thing as a free lunch. Someone like Zhao Ming would never help him without a reason. Clearly, Zhao Ming had something in mind.

"What do you want?" Dai Mubai furrowed his brows. After thinking for a moment, he still couldn't figure out what he had that might interest Zhao Ming.

"What I want isn't something you need to worry about. When I help you ascend to the throne, you'll naturally give me what I want." Zhao Ming chuckled, removing his foot from Dai Mubai's chest.

"Fine. But how exactly can you help me?" Dai Mubai nodded. Even though he knew Zhao Ming's demands would be significant, he had no choice. If he didn't follow Zhao Ming's plan, he'd likely die right here. Even if Zhao Ming didn't kill him, one day Davis would find him, and when that happened, he wouldn't escape death either.

If he wanted to survive and gain power, he needed strength and authority.

He had to defeat Davis and secure the right to inherit the throne. But doing that with his own strength was impossible. After leaving the Star Luo Empire for so many years, he knew the court would now be firmly in Davis's control. Facing Davis alone was far too difficult.

But Zhao Ming, with his power and cunning, was his best ally. Moreover, considering Zhao Ming's strength at such a young age, it was clear that Zhao Ming had backing from a powerful force. If Zhao Ming really intended to help him, he might truly have a chance.

Of course, Dai Mubai also had his own thoughts. Once he became the Crown Prince of Star Luo, Zhao Ming wouldn't be able to do anything to him. As a Crown Prince, even the heads of powerful sects would have to give him respect. What could Zhao Ming do to him then? Perhaps he could even turn the tables and get back at Zhao Ming for stealing Zhu Zhuqing from him.

Thinking of this, Dai Mubai's heart began to burn with anticipation.

Seeing Dai Mubai's shifting expressions, Zhao Ming sneered internally. A man whose thoughts were so easily written on his face—how could anyone expect great things from him?

In the original story, if it weren't for Tang San helping him, even ten years wouldn't have been enough for him to defeat Davis.

"You'll find out how I can help soon enough. There's no need to rush. You said it's just you and Davis competing for the throne this time, right?" Zhao Ming asked nonchalantly.

"Yes." Dai Mubai nodded. Other than him and Davis, the younger princes were far too young—none were even six years old.

"Well then, it's simple. Get rid of Davis, and the throne is yours." Zhao Ming said casually.

"Kill Davis?" Dai Mubai's eyes flickered with fear. Zhao Ming spoke of killing a prince as if it were a casual matter, but to him, it was unimaginable.

"Davis has a Soul Douluo-level guardian, and there are other hidden protectors. Even a Titled Douluo wouldn't find it easy to kill him. As soon as any disturbance occurs, the royal guards would swarm in. Not even a Titled Douluo could escape unscathed." Dai Mubai explained rationally.

"There are countless ways to kill someone. Never mind, I'll handle it when the time comes." Zhao Ming dismissed the topic, sending a small, dark flame toward Dai Mubai, where it attached itself to his body.

"This is a wisp of my Origin Flame. I'll be able to find you whenever I need to." Zhao Ming said calmly before walking away.

When Zhao Ming returned to Shrek Academy, it was breakfast time. Without much thought, he headed straight for the dining hall.

Inside the dining hall, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing were sitting together at a table. Oscar was eating alone at another table, occasionally glancing at the girls with a hint of melancholy. Now that Ma Hongjun was away at Blazing Academy, and Dai Mubai had been expelled, Oscar had no one to talk to during meals.

Watching the lively scene at the girls' table, Oscar couldn't help but feel envious.

But he didn't dare approach.

At least watching from afar was enough to satisfy him. Seeing Ning Rongrong's playful smile made him feel content.

However, his smile quickly disappeared.

A man was sitting down beside Ning Rongrong, playfully pinching her cheek in an intimate manner, which filled him with jealousy.

"What's so funny? What's got you all laughing like that?" Zhao Ming asked, giving Ning Rongrong's chubby cheek a gentle pinch as he sat down in the empty seat next to her.

Ning Rongrong blushed. "Where did you go just now? We didn't see you around."

"I went to send off Dai Mubai. Zhao Wuji tossed him into the wilderness, without even letting him pack. He didn't have a change of clothes, so I gave him a little money. After all, we were classmates once, right?" Zhao Ming said nonchalantly as he grabbed some peanuts with the chopsticks from the table.

"Hey, those are my chopsticks!" Ning Rongrong's cheeks flushed red as she whispered.

"You weren't eating, were you? Don't worry, I don't mind sharing." Zhao Ming responded, not caring at all.

"Oh. Well, I'm already full, so you can use them." Ning Rongrong muttered, glancing at Zhao Ming, her heart racing.

"Zhuqing, how are you feeling now? I got there right after you passed out, so Dai Mubai didn't have the chance to do anything." Zhao Ming said, thinking for a moment. He knew that girls cared deeply about these kinds of matters.

"Zhao Ming, thank you. If it weren't for you yesterday, I don't know what I would've done." Zhu Zhuqing's usually cold voice softened with gratitude.

Now that she understood what she truly needed to cherish, she had decided to change.

From now on, she would live for herself.

"This is what I should've done. After all, we're classmates."

Classmates?

Zhu Zhuqing's expression shifted slightly. Right, they were just ordinary classmates.

That night, she had turned him down. Was he angry now?

She bit her lip lightly and glanced at Zhao Ming, but his expression revealed nothing, and her heart sank with disappointment.

She wasn't sure if Zhao Ming had feelings for her.

After all, what Zhao Ming had said that night had been ambiguous, and maybe he didn't like her at all.

Moreover, she had made her stance clear that night, essentially rejecting him. For a man, that must have been a serious blow to his pride.

What if he no longer liked her? The thought made Zhu Zhuqing's heart race with anxiety.
