Chapter 14: Power
Fiona: How's it going with the routines, kid?
Fiona: Not answering back huh? I see how it is, kid.
Qredius: I was struggling to talk whilst panting from the exertion.
Fiona: And????
Qredius: I've completed the routine.
Fiona: How many did you actually do?
Qredius: Do you want evidence?
Fiona: So we got a liar on our hands huh?
Qredius: You didn't tell me that I needed evidence
Fiona: I can already tell that this path will be hard for you kid.
Fiona: If you think showing up and being here will earn you skills, then you got a whole new train coming at you.
Fiona: Now tell me kid, what exercise did you really do in the past 5 days?
Qredius: I did what you told me to do.
Fiona inspects the workout routine Qred has on a piece of paper.
Fiona: Very good.
Qredius: So, what's next?
Fiona: I believe you did the exercises right?
Fiona: It's time to actually learn the skill.
Qredius: Awesome, I'm hyped.
Fiona: Alright, follow me.
Qredius follows behind her noticing her long red hair.
Fiona: Have you been around town yet?
Qredius: Nope.
Fiona: That's fine too.
Qredius: ok
Fiona: Say, what's your ideal type of women?
Qredius: One that can stand on her own feet.
Fiona: Typical. Anything else?
Qredius: hmm. It doesn't hurt if she's well developed.
Fiona: Well, straight to the point aren't we?
Qredius: Honesty above all else is what I say.
Fiona: It's a good policy.
Qredius: You have any preferences?
Fiona: Not really. Just someone who earns a bit of ducats could satisfy me.
Qredius: Stable and reliable.
Qredius: Fair enough.
Fiona: We're here.
Qredius arrives at Fiona's house in the quiet forest.
Qredius: Very homely.
Fiona: Come inside.
Fiona: Now sit on the symbol in the middle of the floor.
Qredius: What is this.
Fiona: It's a calming place to learn skills.
Qredius: I see.
Fiona: Something about it being magical. I have no idea.
Fiona: I practice archery not alchemy.
Qredius: Should I close my eyes and relax or something?
Fiona: Yes. Focus on controlling your breathing.
Qredius does what he is told and inhales slowly.
Fiona: Find a tempo that feels the most comfortable.
Qredius: ...
Fiona: Calm down. Ease up your mind.
Qredius: ...
Fiona: Don't forget this tempo.
Qredius: ...
Fiona: Now release some mana into your aura.
Qredius releases some of his mana into his aura.
Fiona: If you let out too much at once, you'll explode. Slow down with your speed.
Qredius nods and proceeds with the slow process.
Fiona: That's it. Very slowly.
Fiona places a hand on his back and inserts a new mana flow into Qredius' continuous flow.
Fiona: Keep your mana flowing.
Qredius nods and continues to control his flow. A notification appears on his display:
You have learned the skill, "Ricochet".
Fiona: You can relax now.
Qredius takes a sigh of relief.
Fiona: How does it feel to learn a skill?
Qredius: is it normal to feel a err, warmth in my stomach?
Fiona: That's what they call power.
Qredius: I see.
...
...
...
Thomas: Jim's rank is copper and your potential is average.
Steel: Toxix's rank is copper and your potential is normal.
Toxix: What does normal mean?
Toxix: As compared to average I mean, who has more potential?
Steel: None of you do.
Toxix: Am I allowed to kill you? nevermind
Steel: You can try. But you wont succeed at level 0.
Jim: hahahahaha
Jim: Sooooo lets just say somehow toxix gets really high level he could kill ya
Jim: Also since when do games have level 0 I thought it always starts at 1.
Thomas: He could kill anyone if he was high enough.
Thomas: What is a game?
Jim: Also how technologically advance is the world?
Toxix: Why can an NPC ask questions?
Thomas: Why not?
Toxix: Because you're not programmed to I mean... nevermind.
Thomas: What is a program?
Toxix: Uhh... don't worry about it
Toxix: So are there currently any low level quests I can go on? Or is there somewhere else I have to go for that?
Thomas: You can ask for a class trainer, but it will take a day to find one for your class.
Toxix: What is my class again?
Toxix looks at his stats screen. It reads:
Class: Rogue
Toxix: Right. Okay, so is there a cost or do I get to speak to a trainer for free?
Thomas: The cost is waiting a whole twenty four hours.
Toxix: Okay, may I speak to a Rogue Trainer?
Toxix: Also, speaking of cost. Is there a currency system in this world?
Toxix: See, I was watching ... hentai when I wanted some food. I went out to get some and was hit by a car and now I'm here. So Im new here.
The guild receptionist told Toxix to look at his player menu more. There was a lot of information already set in stone.
Toxix: How do I get money?
Thomas: Selling monster drops to the guild hall is the most common way to earn money.
Toxix: So, do I need to speak to a trainer? or can I just go on a quest now? Also, where would quests be posted?
Thomas: Quests are posted on the quest board. So there are no quests at this moment.
Toxix: Okay. Thank you very much.
Thomas: Please check back tomorrow for the trainer.
Toxix: Will do.
Jim: Also umm can I ask for a mage trainer?
Thomas: Ok, Jim. Please check back in tomorrow for your trainer.
Toxix: Im doing alright. umm Thomas, were already teamed up correct?
Thomas: Yes. You are in a party.
Jim: Yeah we’re on team 1 the only team without a number other than the default one.
Toxix: Just wanted to make sure. Am I able to hurt party members?
Thomas: Yes. If you wanted to.
Jim: Wait. Hey. Toxix don't get any ideas man.
Jim: I don't think I've done anything to deserve death yet at least.
Author's Note: Changed Team 1's color a bit to see the names better.
