Divine Talisman Grandmaster

Chapter 25

Chapter 25 - There Were Some Things That Had to be Changed

The man stepping forward in agreement with Sha Xiufen was none other than Zhang Tu, the prodigy from Skyhaven's Forest Lake Academy.

As soon as Zhang Tu made his entrance, all eyes were on him. The gazes he received were a mix of awe and envy—awe for his formidable talent and exceptional abilities, and envy for his distinguished family and striking looks.

Truth be told, even Lu Lixing had to concede that Zhang Tu was an incredibly handsome and refined young man. His looks and status could easily fulfill the prince charming fantasy harbored by most girls.

Such a person would invariably be the center of attention wherever he went. Clearly, Zhang Tu had grown accustomed to the spotlight.

Lu Lixing watched Zhang Tu with an impassive face, then abruptly snapped Yuwen Ba's legs. Yuwen Ba, who had assumed he'd be unharmed, suddenly bulged his eyes in agony and passed out.

Yuwen Ba, who had broken so many legs himself, had never realized how excruciating the pain could be.

The incident left everyone present in shock. No one had anticipated that Lu Lixing would stand his ground even after Zhang Tu's intervention, brazenly breaking Yuwen Ba's legs right in front of him.

This act wasn't just about breaking Yuwen Ba's legs; it was a clear affront to Zhang Tu's dignity.

Zhang Tu's usually composed demeanor darkened upon witnessing Lu Lixing's ruthless action. His gaze turned icy as he addressed Lu Lixing, “I had thought to spare you, considering your past acquaintance with Xiufen, but it seems you're not inclined to make a quiet exit.”

Zhang Tu struggled to recall the last time he'd been so openly challenged. All he remembered was that the last person to do so met with a dire fate, vanishing silently from the world. Unknown to all, it took a full hundred days for that person to die after their disappearance.

“My name is Lu Lixing.” Lu Lixing straightened his clothes and introduced himself to Zhang Tu with earnest, “I hail from the slums; I'm just an ordinary citizen.”

Upon hearing Lu Lixing's introduction, even the worldly Zhang Tu was momentarily taken aback. However, he quickly recovered, scoffing, “Are you trying to leverage this incident to carve out a reputation for yourself in Skyhaven? Your ambition is commendable, and at the very least, you've got guts.”

“You're mistaken,” Lu Lixing said, shaking his head gently. “I've never considered you a formidable opponent. You don't hold a candle to the true masters; you're not even on par with a black bear.”

Zhang Tu's face fell at these words. Shooting Lu Lixing a fierce look, he spoke with unyielding harshness, “I'm not sure who emboldened you, but let me tell you, you've truly infuriated me now.”

Yet, Lu Lixing appeared oblivious to Zhang Tu's rage. He calmly retorted, “Without your family's backing, you're nothing. You wouldn't even qualify to tie my shoes.”

At that, Lu Lixing's gaze shifted abruptly to Sha Xiufen. “I'll prove to you with facts that the person you've chosen is far from virtuous.”

Disappointment etched on her face, Sha Xiufen shook her head at Lu Lixing's audacity. “I may not know what you've been through, but your arrogance is blinding. You're underestimating Zhang Tu. Do you realize the path you're choosing today could be your downfall?”

The more time Sha Xiufen spent with Zhang Tu, the more she grasped the extent of his strength and the dread the Zhang family inspired. In her eyes, Lu Lixing's public challenge to Zhang Tu was tantamount to courting death.

She found herself longing for the Lu Lixing of old—the one who was at least somewhat sensible and would never have dared utter such reckless words.

Lu Lixing had no desire to justify himself to Sha Xiufen; he intended to let his actions do the talking.

Ignoring Zhang Tu's seething anger, Lu Lixing turned on his heel and headed off campus. His first stop would be the hospital to see Sha Zhenghao, to whom he planned to issue a warning to beware of Zhang Tu going forward.

Watching Lu Lixing dismiss him and walk away, Zhang Tu's rage was palpable. With a low growl, he launched himself forward with explosive speed, reaching Lu Lixing in a blink. He swung his fist at Lu Lixing's head with lethal intent—he was out for blood!

Sensing the imminent threat, Lu Lixing whirled around and countered with his own punch. Their fists met with a thunderous collision, unleashing a shockwave that sent a gale whipping around them. Both men were forced to step back—Lu Lixing by four paces, Zhang Tu by three.

Zhang Tu was in disbelief. He hadn't anticipated that Lu Lixing would manage to fend off his surprise attack. Utilizing the speed from his shoes, inscribed with a level two Gale Array, even someone at the pinnacle of the Body Tempering Stage might fail to react in time. Yet, Lu Lixing not only responded but also launched a counterattack!

Witnessing the astonishment on Zhang Tu's face, Lu Lixing remained composed. He gave Zhang Tu a dismissive glance before turning on his heel to continue his exit from Forest Lake Academy.

This time, Zhang Tu made no move to stop him.

All eyes followed Lu Lixing's departing figure in eerie silence, a shared understanding among the onlookers that Forest Lake Academy was on the cusp of dramatic change.

In his office, Wen Shi had observed the unfolding events through the surveillance system. He witnessed Lu Lixing's interrogation of Yuwen Ba, his fury over his friend's mistreatment, his rebuke of Sha Xiufen, and the showdown with Zhang Tu.

Wen Shi was thoroughly impressed by Lu Lixing's conduct. His efforts to inform Yuwen Ba of Lu Lixing's presence at the school had not been in vain.

It was Wen Shi who had secretly relayed the information to Yuwen Ba, having promised only to refrain from influencing Lu Lixing's decisions.

He knew that Yuwen Ba would inevitably seek out Lu Lixing, and even if he didn't, Lu Lixing would have sought out Yuwen Ba upon learning of Sha Zhenghao's plight. All Wen Shi did was expedite the inevitable.

“After today's events, you should understand the truth in my words,” Wen Shi murmured to himself, conviction shining in his eyes like never before. “As long as these noble families and sects rule the world, commoners will never receive justice. Our only recourse is to rise up, to topple those from their pedestals, and only then will the world know peace.”
