Deadly Riddle

Chapter 2: "Chaotic Mornings and Classroom Antics"

The next morning, Jae Hyun decided to try cooking breakfast for himself. He wasn't exactly skilled in the kitchen, but he figured it couldn't be too hard. As he fried some eggs and sausages, he got distracted scrolling through his phone. Within minutes, the smell of something burning filled the air.

"Oh no! No, no, no!" Jae Hyun panicked, waving his hands in the air as smoke rose from the pan. He quickly turned off the stove, but the damage was done—the eggs were charred beyond recognition. He coughed as he opened the windows to let the smoke out.

"Ugh, so much for breakfast," he muttered, staring at the blackened food in defeat.

As he tried to figure out what to do next, a familiar voice called out from the window.

"Jae Hyun! What's that smell? Are you okay?"

He looked up to see Min Joon's mom leaning out of her window, concern written all over her face.

"Ah, it's nothing, Mrs. Lee," Jae Hyun said, scratching the back of his head sheepishly. "Just… my breakfast didn't go as planned."

Mrs. Lee laughed warmly. "Come over and eat with us, then. I've made enough for everyone."

Jae Hyun hesitated for a moment but quickly gave in. "Thank you! I'll be right over!"

He grabbed his coat and headed next door to Min Joon's house. Inside, the smell of freshly cooked rice, kimchi stew, and side dishes made his stomach growl. Min Joon, already at the table, gave him a knowing smirk.

"Let me guess—your cooking experiment failed?"

"Shut up," Jae Hyun said with a laugh, taking a seat.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the neighborhood, Seok Woo was getting ready to head to school. He walked to his motorcycle, only to find the rear tire completely flat.

"Aiss, sekkya!" he cursed under his breath, crouching down to inspect the damage.

He stood up in frustration, muttering, "Great. Just great. This is going to make me late."

He reluctantly decided to walk his motorcycle to the nearest repair shop, grumbling the entire way.

On the other side of town, Ji Hoon was having a rough morning of his own. His mom was scolding him for forgetting to clean his room the previous day.

"Ji Hoon, I've told you a hundred times to keep your room tidy! Look at this mess! Are you planning to live like this forever?"

Ji Hoon sat at the kitchen table, half-listening as he ate his breakfast. "Yes, Mom. I'll clean it today, I promise."

"You said that yesterday, and the day before that!" she continued, her voice rising.

Ji Hoon sighed, muttering under his breath, "At least let me finish eating first..."

It seemed like everyone was off to an eventful start that morning, each with their own little dramas to deal with. Despite their chaotic mornings, they all managed to make it to school on time—well, almost on time.

As the day began, they couldn't wait to share their stories with each other, laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. These small, everyday moments reminded them of the bond they shared, one that made even the most frustrating mornings a little easier to bear.

As the day began, they couldn't wait to share their stories with each other, laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. These small, everyday moments reminded them of the bond they shared, one that made even the most frustrating mornings a little easier to bear.

At school, the atmosphere in the classroom was lively as usual. Most of the students were chatting or preparing for the lessons, but a group of girls in the corner had taken center stage with their gossip session. The boys watched them with mild curiosity, finding their animated whispers and giggles amusing.

Min Joon, ever the curious one, couldn't resist. He stood up from his seat and casually strolled over to the group.

"What are you all talking about?" he asked, flashing his signature playful grin.

The girls hesitated for a moment but eventually let him join in. Min Joon's presence only made the gossip session even louder as he enthusiastically added his own commentary, much to the amusement of the others in the class.

Meanwhile, Ji Hoon, who had no interest in the commotion, sat by the window, resting his head against the frame. He closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the cool breeze brushing against his face. The sunlight warmed his skin, and for a brief second, he felt like he could drift away from all the noise.

Suddenly, the door to the classroom slid open with a loud thud, pulling everyone's attention. Seok Woo entered, panting slightly and looking disheveled. His hair was messy, and his uniform seemed hastily thrown on.

"You're late!" the class president teased, earning chuckles from a few classmates.

"Yeah, yeah," Seok Woo muttered, clearly in no mood to explain. His eyes quickly scanned the room and landed on Ji Hoon, who was still sitting by the window, completely unbothered.

Seok Woo walked to his seat, which wasn't far from Ji Hoon, and sat down with a huff. For a moment, he just stared at Ji Hoon, who lazily turned his head to meet Seok Woo's gaze. Neither of them said a word, but the silent exchange spoke volumes.

"Tough morning?" Ji Hoon finally asked, his voice low and calm.

Seok Woo snorted, leaning back in his chair. "You could say that."

The two shared a faint smirk before falling silent again, each lost in their own thoughts.

Across the room, Min Joon's laughter echoed as he continued entertaining the gossiping girls, making exaggerated expressions that had them in stitches.

The lively chaos of the classroom was nothing new, but for this group of friends, it was all part of their daily rhythm. It was moments like these—gossip, laughter, silent exchanges by the window—that made their time at school uniquely theirs.
