Chapter 43: Chapter 42: Family

Chapter 42: Family

(Lucas POV)

"Why the hell did The Arrow just attack you guys?" I questioned Naruto whose eyes were glowing in a dark red color in the direction that the group had jus fled.

"I do not know." He said, his voice in a chilling tone. "And I do not care."

He then made a plus sign with his hands, and in the next second, another Naruto popped up in a puff of smoke and stealthily began to follow Team Arrow.

"Are you alright, Naruto-Kun?" Hinata asked as she moved closer to Naruto.

"I am fine, how are the people inside of the rooms?" Naruto asked me.

"Well, Tom seemed to sense something was off, so he used his soundproof headphones on Anya so she wouldn't hear anything."

"That is a relief. I was worried about how she could react." Hinata said, as she slowly moved towards the room door after checking Naruto for any injuries.

She then patiently opened the door, to not make any noises.

Even Naruto and I moved a little, to Peek inside of the place, and we all saw Anya peacefully sleeping on Tom's fur.

Seems like the long day was a little hard on the lass.

(Inside of a throne room)

"The Twins who were on an assignment in America are coming back, sire." A Butler who was in front of a throne narrated his report.

"Oh…the twins finished their business there already? I was last told they would not be back for a month." The man on the throne replied, looking away from his paperwork.

"The Twins have reported that they were ambushed while trying to assassinate a traitor."

"A traitor? Since when does this family have a traitor I was not made aware of?" The man asked, in an icy cold tone.

The Butler didn't respond, since he knew that the man wasn't done.

"Did Cornelious brand his son a traitor and not think of mentioning it to me?"

"No, sire. It is just in the family rules you have written, that anyone who abandons the family and does not come back within a year, providing reasonable arguments as to why they had to leave, that they are to be branded as traitor."

The man calmed down a little, and with great elegance stood up from his throne.

He looked down at his butler, who was still kneeling at the bottom of the steps towards the throne.

"Then I shall change my rules." The man said in a calm voice, shocking the butler to his absolute core.

"Sire, openly showing favoritism might destroy the family dynamics."

"Sobeit. I do not care what people weaker than me think." The man replied as he moved out of his throne room for the first time in a long while.

"But I do believe that Lucas has had his fun. Mathew is supposed to be in charge of the American Operations, yes?"

"Yes, Sire."

"Good, then ask him to retrieve Lucas… but I do not believe that Lucas will not have counter measures prepared for us. Send a kryptonian from Earth-29126 just in case."

"Your will shall be done."

The man nodded, as he walked through his massive castle.

(Lucas Pov)

"Are you sure you don't want me to follow you?" Naruto questioned me as I walked towards Blair's house.

It was about time for me to talk to her.

Tom said that he had something to do and left me, taking Buzz and Steel with him.

Right now Anya was sleeping in my arms as we moved together towards Blair's house.

"Yes, I want to talk to her myself."

"I will take care of Anya-San for you." Hinata mentioned that as she tried to grab Anya from my hands.

Keyword being 'tried.'

The second she felt that she was leaving my eyes, Anya stirred awake and opened her eyes.

She then looked around curiously and tears began to swell up in her eyes.

"WAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

"Anya, why are you crying?" I asked in confusion since we didn't even do anything yet.

"Papa is already giving Anya away! WAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

I couldn't help but sigh as I grabbed Anya properly and tried to align her face with mine, but she kept wailing uncontrollably.

"Anya I am going to have a grown up talk, you won't enjoy it."

"ANYA DOESN'T WANT PAPA TO LEAVE!"

I couldn't help but sigh as I turned towards the duo next to me for help.

But they seemed extremely clueless as well.

I didn't even know how to explain to the world that I had a daughter yet. She was 5, and I was 21.

To everyone who knows me, that story is extremely far-fetched since they had never seen her before, and I wasn't the type to have a child when I was 15 years old.

Anya slowly began to stop crying, as she wiped her tears and looked at me with her massive eyes.

"So papa doesn't want to leave?" She asked in a shaky voice.

"Of course I don't want to leave! You think I want to have the conversation I am about to have? It is going to be very tiring, I would rather play with Anya all day! It is just, being an adult is tiring."

"But aren't adults all super cool?"

"Now where would you get that thought?"

"Bond-man!"

I deadpanned at her for a second, before I began chuckling out of laughter.

Maybe the system was right, and her child-like innocence is something I needed.

This entire world was just one messed up piece of shit stiched together and family is supposed to be the only thing that makes it better.

I was unfortunate enough, that my blood related family are all mosnters.

Compulsive control freaks.

Gamblers.

Drug addicts.

Literally any problem known to man, they had.

This was only the lesser of the evils, I was not even counting how they had doomed entire cities of people with thousands in them to death.

They were a plague of this world that made me feel trapped.

The best way to put it was, with them I felt stuck.

There was no way up, and no way down. No matter what I did I was wrong so there was no point in doing anything right.

It felt like a fog welling up in my chest, not allowing me to breathe whenever I thought about them.

It was to the point where even my body would respond by not allowing me to breath, causing me to always hyperventilate.

Maybe, just maybe, a family isn't one of blood related ties.

Those were overrated anyways, who cares if you have the same DNA.

What matters is if you have people around you who truly treat you as family.

Like this young girl in front of me. Even though I have only met her for a day, I knew from the depths of my heart I would go to any extent to keep her happy.

...

Authors note:

Unfortunately this isn't a continuation of the fanfic. I simply had a couple of spare chapters I wanted to upload.

I am currently trying a new project, which is basically my own novel but I will be uploading it as a fanfic since honestly I write mainly for interaction with people.

I write to share ideas and run through scenarios with people, so I hope you will try my new project out.

It is called "Eternal Heir."

Do not subscribe to patreon for this fanfic anymore thanks.
