Dark Swordsman and Dragon King

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Gifted

Arc - Rise of the Dawn Arc

Chapter - Gifted

Fundamentally, Glorybound City was large, but there wasn't a need to use vehicles. After walking for approximately 15 minutes, Lang Yue and three kids arrived in front of a somewhat large workshop's door. The exterior of the workshop seemed somewhat shabby. On top, three words were written,

[Mang Tian's Workshop]

Even when they were in front of the doors, the smell of metal assaulted their nostrils. Lang Yue pushed the doorbell, and standing in the doorway was a middle-aged man. The middle-aged man was tall and dark skinned. With his full beard, he appeared somewhat fierce and tough.

"Younger sister has arrived, " his deep voice was low and forceful. Listening to it, Tang Yang felt a little buzz. All of them greeted Mang Tian. On the contrary, Mang Tian expressionlessly nodded.

"Big Brother Mang Tian, thank you for your troubles."

Slightly unwillingly, Lang Yue parted with her and Vincent. She left with Na'er, who also said good luck and goodbye to them.

Tang Yang and Vincent followed Mang Tian into the workshop's chaotic hall. The hall was littered with all sorts of metal components Tang Yang barely recognized. Most of these were likely components for soul machines, though. The shop wasn't large nor small. After passing through the halls, Mang Tian brought the two boys to one of the inner rooms.

Mang Tian stopped here, turning around to face the duo. "Do you know forging is?"

At a loss, Tang Yang shook his head. Vincent replied in his usual calm tone,

"For me, forging is like an art. The greater your passion, the more you'll be able to understand the essence of metal and provide good material."

Mang Tian was stunned for a second. He felt that he was talking to a fellow blacksmith rather than a kid. But his answer pleased him very much.

"This is your task for today," Mang Tian said as he pointed to the side. Off to the side was a meter tall metal table. On top of the table were two round lumps of metal, and below it was a soul machine screen.

Mang Tian picked up two medium metal hammers from the side and held them out to Tang Yang and Vincent. "You see that lump of metal? Use these hammers to strike it 200 hundred times. The screen will display the number of hits with sufficient strength. If you two were able to complete the task, then I'll think about making you my apprentices ... Also, don't try to cheat. You'll be disqualified immediately if you do any tricks. I'm watching you."

After speaking, he turned around and walked away at the corner of the room. He was keeping an eye on these two brats.

Tang Yang was about to start the hammering, but Vincent stopped him. He corrected his posture, his way of hammering the metal, and taught him how he could adjust the force and speed of his swing to develop a suitable momentum.

Bang! Bang! The metal boomed, and the soul screen below it activated, displaying the number '1'

'This isn't too hard!' Tang Yang thought as he and Vincent began swinging his arms in a steady rhythm.

"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!" The numbers on the screen increased unceasingly in tune with the continuous thumping. Neither Tang Yang nor Vincent waved at all as both of them didn't feel they were too much of a burden. They completed the task in a few minutes.

Mang Tian was stared at them in utter shock and bewilderment. He thought about passing the kids when they were able to lift the medium-sized hammers with ease. But this, he didn't expect that ever to happen. The two brats had completed the task in some mere minutes without breaking a sweat before his eyes.

"Hammer, a few more times for me." Mang Tian said heavily.

"Yes." Tang Yang replied while Vincent sighed as he picked up the hammer once again.

"Bang, bang, bang! ... " Mang Tian saw that the strike was done with a specific technique that he didn't know about at all. Moreover, the strength of the two brats was on a different level. Sufficient enough to completely pound the metal lump.

'They were naturally gifted in blacksmithing ... It's like finding a pair of diamonds in a coal mine.'

When Lang Yue came to pick up the kids, she was greeted with Mang Tian's gentle expression as he passed over a letter to her. "Give it to your husband."

As soon as they returned home and crossed the doorway, Tang Yang saw Na'er sitting to the side. With a bounce, he ran to her while Lang Yue went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Tang Yang was happily describing the details of his achievements. When Tang Ziran returned, dinner was already prepared. There was also the remaining meat of yesterday. When the two adults saw towards the kids, Tang Yang was vigorously chewing his food with a grin as he looked at Na'er beside him. She was eating one spoonful at a time. The silent and quiet Vincent was eating slowly and steadily. Tang Yang and Na'er were teasing him from time to time to eat more and to make a smile appear on his face. They had taken this as a kind of challenge to remove the bored expression of Vincent. But Vincent was far more stubborn than they thought. He wasn't showing an inch of change at all. But his new brother and sister were also stubborn. Tang Ziran and Lang Yue couldn't help but be dumbfounded and shocked at this scene. It was as if they had suddenly stumbled into an extremely harmonious scene. Tang Ziran muttered to himself,

"At last, I did something good upon adopting these two kids."

Tang Yang and Na'er eating capabilities shocked the couple, and what's more shocking was Vincent placing another large piece of raw meat on the table.
