Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The Unknown
Arc - Rise of the Dawn Arc
Chapter - The Unknown
Just as Vincent summoned the broken sword. His aura and soul power had gone to an extremely high level to the point that it felt comparable to the 'Dark Lord' in his demon form or even higher. Vincent used all the power of the broken sword to defend himself from the white light.
When the white light disappeared, there was nothing left behind in the village. There was only a huge pit in place of the village. The remaining undead army of the 'Dark Lord' was truly dead now.
However, Vincent could feel that the earth was rumbling. It told him that the main force of the undead army of the 'Dark Lord' can come at any moment. He ran towards the centre of the village. There, he saw that his father, Greyson, was sitting on the ground on his one knee. Blood was coming out from his mouth, and his eyes were closed.
Vincent quickly ran towards his father. He didn't let his guard down. He didn't able to sense and see the Dark Lord, but nothing could not be said about him. Whether he survived or not. When Vincent checked his father, he found out that ... he was dead. The cause of his death was the complete exhaustion of soul power. He wasn't moving at all, but there was a smile on his face. Anger started to consume him, but he didn't let it take heavy on him. He was a shinobi. He already predicted this outcome. In fact, he predicted even more worst outcome than this.
Vincent quickly turned around and pointed his black sword towards the 'Dark Lord'. He wanted to cut down the person, NO! the demon, in front of him into pieces. His broken sword is disintegrated into red sparkles. He can't be able to use it for some time. Vincent's eyes were Violet in colour, which is showing that his [Arringun] is activated. If he was able to use his broken sword right now, then there is no doubt that he would truly be able to turn him into pieces of meat.
Valour was in his weakest state right now. All of his shadows were finished. His soul power is also on his depleted state, and he still comes to face Vincent. In truth, Vincent's state was also not very good. He got not enough soul power to teleport away. Now, he should escape like he promised, but the last hidden portal was also destroyed a while ago due to that fearsome clash. Vincent could see that natural energy in raw form had stuck in his enemy's body. He only protected his left eye, which was able to heal him except that it couldn't remove the natural energy from his body.
"It's over, Vincent. No one can protect you now."
The rumbling started to increase. Vincent couldn't believe that he was going to do that. He took out a black book under his cloak. The 'Dark Lord' got surprised and horrified on seeing that black book. He muttered in an unbelievable tone,
"Y-You ... No, S-She had it all along."
Vincent had this book from a considerable time. He was able to decode about half of the context of the book. There were dark techniques written in the book. Some of the very nasty and fearsome ones. The conditions were out of reach from his expectation. The effects and defects of the techniques were unknown as their wasn't written anything about it. Valour used the [Shadow Flicker Technique] to cover the distance between them.
But it was too late. There's one technique that Vincent had mastered perfectly. But he didn't know what the technique did. The 'Dark Lord' was late this time. The [Shadow Flicker Technique] allowed the user to give a sudden boost in movement for a short moment of time. It almost felt like a teleportation technique. As Valour's body was invaded by the natural energy, interfering with his body and soul power. So, he couldn't able to use the full potential of the [Shadow Flicker Technique] and was only able to cover half of the distance. Vincent said in a low and eerie tone as the sword disappeared with a flash of cold light from his right hand,
"[Black Light: Arise of Darkness]"
Vincent's right hand shone with sinister black light. It covered the 'Dark Lord' wholly. The gauntlets of the 'Dark Lord' disappeared, and there was an Arringun with three-tomoe implanted on the palm of his right hand. The 'Dark Lord' disintegrated into black sparkles, and these sparkles started to absorb by the right hand, which was shining with black light. Two orbs were also absorbed by it. One of them was purple in colour while the other core was black in colour.
The 'Dark Lord' was dead, just like that. He was defeated by the dark art like he was nothing but a show. Just as the process was completed, Vincent fell on the ground and vomited a mouthful of black blood. He was tormented by sudden pain and futality. The pain was so immense that he felt like he could die at any moment. This was the first time he suffered such immense pain. He yelled at the top of his lungs. He occasionally coughed more black and red blood from time to time. A mark just like that on the book appeared on his neck. His pain reduced a little bit, but it was still present like it had become a part of his body. Suddenly, he heard the sound of footsteps and a cold and emotionless voice,
"Tch ... I warned that fool to capture only the boy. Not to engage with Greyson at any cost, but oh well! The 'Dark Lord' is still able to bring some benefits for us ... "
Vincent looked at the direction of the voice by mustering some of his energy as he was still struggling to adapt the pain. He saw that a person wearing a black cloak and a fearsome white mask was holding his black book and looking at him with his empty black eyes like pits of an abyss.
He walked towards Vincent, but before he could do something. Vincent disappeared as his whole body turned red. The mark sent Vincent into the Limbo. With this the memory simulation ended.
