Dad's Comic Life

Chapter 7: Comic Preparation

A notification sound from her phone prompted Jada to glance at it, revealing a message from Ren saying, "Come out!"

This sentence made Jada furrow her brows involuntarily. What did he mean by 'come out'? Could it be that he sent the wrong message?

But then, another text came: "I don't have an access card for your company's entrance, can't get in."

He actually came to the company?

Jada immediately sat up, and hurriedly ran to the company's door. Outside, Ren was holding hands with Yuta, smiling broadly when he saw her, showing his white teeth, and waving at her.

In addition to this, Ren's other hand was carrying a white plastic bag.

Seeing these two people, Jada's heart warmed. Women are emotional beings; generally, when a compassionate woman is comforted and cared for during her lowest times, the person holds a significant place in her heart.

At this moment, if this were a game, Jada's head would probably have shown a +1+1+1 of goodwill towards Ren, right?

Overall, Ren's actions significantly increased Jada's fondness for him.

She opened the company's entrance, intending to thank him, but at that moment, she couldn't bring herself to say it.

"Mama, surprised or not? Unexpected, right?" Little Yuta rushed to hug Jada's strong thigh as soon as she opened the door.

Jada patted her little head.

Ren walked in slowly, a warm smile on his face, "I texted you before, you said you hadn't eaten, so I specially brought something for you."

"...Mm." Jada looked at Ren and smiled, "Thank you."

Then, Ren and the little girl entered Jada's office.

The office was messy, with various books and drawing papers scattered around.

The little girl listened to Ren and started reading comics in the office.

Jada sat down, opened the plastic bag—it held sweet and sour pork ribs and vegetables, clearly homemade by Ren.

Taking a spoon, Jada took a bite, "Delicious!"

Honestly, the taste wasn't as good as the takeout she used to order, but for some reason, Jada found it delicious.

The most delicious meals in the world are not from high-end ingredients or fancy recipes but unexpected care and warmth.

At this moment, the warmth and care from Ren, coupled with the recent distress she faced, made Jada appreciate the taste of this meal.

"If it's good, eat more." Ren chuckled.

He was currently trying to win over Jada.

After all, this woman was beautiful, wealthy, and most importantly, she bore him a child.

If he didn't marry her, what kind of man would he be?

But then, he gestured towards the documents on the table, "Can I take a look at these?"

"Sure, go ahead," Jada nodded.

Ren picked up one and lounged on the sofa to read. Although he didn't understand a lot of it, he could sense the high staff turnover, indicating the company's challenging situation.

At the same time, although Jada was eating, she kept glancing at him from time to time.

Honestly, Ren was handsome; otherwise, she wouldn't have engaged with him when she was drunk.

Moreover, seeing how he took care of Yuta, being attentive and even bringing her food… knowing how to cook, do laundry, and household chores…

He seemed like a good...

Prospective husband?

At that moment, Jada suddenly paused. Why was she having these thoughts?

Was it because of the company's problems making her lose her spirit? Future marital issues would be more significant post-marriage, right?

As she pondered, Ren raised his head and looked at her, "So, do you need comics now?"

Agreeing with his words, Jada nodded, "Yes, I need comics and a comic artist."

"Do you think I can do it?" Ren asked confidently. After all, his proudest achievement now was having a system, right?

"You?" Jada glanced at him, examining his drawing style. She had seen it previously—it was cute, especially the Pikachu drawing. Being an illustrator might work, she thought.

But as a comic artist… she wasn't so hopeful. Being a good comic artist depended not only on art style but mostly on storytelling, requiring imagination to develop plots.

However, with a staff shortage currently, why not let Ren give it a try?

It seems like Jada addressed Ren's doubts, saying, "I acknowledge that your art style is very good, but since you are still a newcomer, I'm concerned about your ability to manage the storyline if you were to serialize a long comic. A long comic typically spans at least ten installments."

"Sure," Ren responded to Jada's words without any displeasure. Besides, he reviewed the system and found that the first three works included two short pieces, one of which was his most promising work!

"Dad, do you want to draw comics?" Although the little girl was watching comics on the side, she was still interested in the conversation between Ren and Jada.

"Yes."

"Is it Pikachu and the others?" Her eyes lit up when the little girl asked this question.

During this time, she loved drawing Pokémon, especially Pikachu. The yellow cuteness charmed her completely!

"No, it's not," Ren, unfortunately, shook his head.

While Pokémon was one of the biggest IPs in his previous life, it was first a game and then an animated series. In this world, without the game's advantages, Ren wasn't sure if he could succeed without the game's support. He couldn't waste his single free chance; after all, his only free opportunity couldn't be used recklessly.

So even if he planned to work on Pokémon, it would probably be after he had the intention to create a Pokémon game.

"Oh." The little girl appeared somewhat unhappy after hearing Ren's response.

At that moment, Jada also stood up, tidied up the table, and picked up her handbag, saying, "Let's go, Yueyue, I'll take you to KFC!"

"!!"

Like any child, she had a particular fondness for junk food. Upon hearing Jada's words, her eyes lit up, and the little girl, who was initially upset by Ren's words, immediately stood up and hugged Jada's thigh, saying, "Mom is the best!!"
