Chapter 13 - Irritability Part 1
Lu Yu saw a faint red light deep in the forest, then the red light approached closer and closer, and there were more of them. It wasn’t until then that he realized those red lights were actually dozens of torches!
Shan Pu also saw them. He was first stunned, then involuntarily thought of that day ten years ago. That day, they had hunted two giant-necked deer. Because it took them a long time, by the time they returned with their spoils, it was already dark.
Before they could enter the tribe, many outsiders holding torches suddenly appeared, surrounding them heavily, some even dragging the corpses of their tribesmen…
In the end, there was nothing but blood and the cries of their people…
Thinking of this, Shan Pu’s eyes reddened at first, then he suddenly came to his senses and urgently said, “Witch, let’s go!!” Without waiting for Lu Yu’s reaction, he grabbed him and ran, shouting, “Enemy’s attack!!!”
In less than two seconds, the doors of the small wooden huts banged open, and all the Matai people came out solemnly, wielding wooden clubs.
Shan Pu saw Tai Lie come out and ran up to him, suddenly slamming on the brakes. His speed was too fast, and the stop was too sudden. Lu Yu stumbled and nearly fell.
Tai Lie’s muscles tensed, subconsciously reaching out his hand. But when he saw Shan Pu also reaching out his hand, he subtly retracted his own.
“Witch, are you okay? It’s my fault for running too fast,” Shan Pu lamented.
Lu Yu waved his hand, “It’s okay, it’s not the time to talk about this now.”
He looked up at Tai Lie, “King, there are many people coming towards us, probably around a hundred.”
Although Lu Yu hadn’t experienced the previous incidents with the Matai tribe, he knew that it couldn’t be anything good for so many people to come here in the middle of the night.
Tai Lie nodded and made a gesture.
The Matai people, upon seeing the gesture, quickly formed their battle formation.
Unlike the cave with only one entrance, this was an open area, so the Matai formation became circular layers.
The outer layer consisted of male Matai, the inner layer consisted of female Matai, and Lu Yu and the little Matais who hadn’t found a place to hide were in the center.
Lu Yu quickly took out the small red medicine he had exchanged for wild beast meat from his ring these past few days and distributed it to the Matai people, instructing them to keep it in their mouths.
As he distributed it, he felt a bit regretful.
These past few days, he had been solely focused on leveling up in the panel and had forgotten to upgrade the blueprint for the red medicine, leaving him with only small red medicine now.
Just as the medicine was distributed, the people who trespassed into the village with torches gradually emerged from the depths of the forest…
Naocan Tribe, the Chief was named Yu Shui. He was originally the son of the previous chief’s wife from her former husband.
Although Yu Shui didn’t have much ability, he was proud and arrogant. After realizing he couldn’t become the next chief, he demanded people, food, and goods from his mother’s tribe and went to a distant place to establish his own tribe.
After the tribe was established, Yu Shui forbade hunting and gathering to focus on developing the tribe, but instead came up with a vicious idea.
Whenever they found a small tribe with few people, they would send people to burn, kill, and plunder them.
Most men were killed directly, while some had their legs crippled and were forced back as slaves. Women were all captured back, with the pretty ones being abused and the less attractive ones being forced to work.
This time, when Mu Hei discovered the small tribe, Yu Shui originally didn’t want to come personally, but after hearing that this small tribe had very good wooden houses, he suddenly became a bit curious.
When he finally saw the small tribe, Yu Shui hadn’t had a chance to look at the houses yet, but was instead startled by the well-organized and imposing small tribe people standing there.
These people were all tall and muscular, each one imposing.
In his tribe, there wasn’t even one person who could match them.
Yu Shui felt a little panicked, but when he looked again and realized that the total number of them was only about sixty or seventy, half of which were women, he relaxed.
After all, he brought more than twice as many people, and they were all young and strong. When the time came, they could just send a few people to watch the women, and the rest could easily defeat them.
After figuring this out, Yu Shui turned to look at the wooden houses around.
After looking around, he was delighted.
These small wooden houses were too good, not only better than his own, but also better than the ones the chief of his mother’s tribe lived in. Mu Hei didn’t lie to him.
When they caught the people who built the houses in the small tribe later, they could spare their lives.
Yu Shui stroked his chin, full of enthusiasm, unable to stop admiring.
Seeing these people standing still, with only the person in the middle peeking out, Shan Pu couldn’t help but ask angrily, “Who are you people?”
Although Yu Shui was no longer in his mother’s tribe, he still felt superior. Upon hearing Shan Pu’s question, he lazily hum without bothering to look, then disdainfully snorted.
Beside him, Mu Hei understood instantly, arrogantly declaring, “It doesn’t matter who we are. Just quickly hand over your food and fur.”
The Matai people were enraged upon hearing this.
Shan Pu almost drew the dagger from his beast skin skirt and rushed up, but after seeing the look in their King’s eyes, he reluctantly restrained himself, gritting his teeth, “What if we don’t?”
“Heh,” Yu Shui sneered, “Then we’ll kill all your men.”
“As for the women,” he sneaked a peek at the female Matai inside, “They can come with us.”
Upon hearing this, the Matai people were almost furious.
Lu Yu’s chest surged with anger.
