Chapter 6
Kai found himself where the tents were put up, a few meters away from the tent where Chelsea stayed.
He walked into the tent as a servant opened the tent’s flap for him to come in.
“How did it go?” He heard Chelsea ask from her throne.
“It was strange, that’s all I can say.” Truly that was all he could describe the test as, she didn’t even warn him about it.
“Hahaha, you really can’t be serious at this moment, all you can say is that the test was strange—Hahaha.” It seemed Chelsea intentionally didn’t tell him.
“Are you happy now? Let’s head back.”
“I have a lot of questions to ask but I guess you can answer them in the carriage.”
“Not a problem, let’s go. I will answer all your questions in the carriage.” Chelsea stood up from her throne in the center of the tent and walked a bit before stopping before the stairs.
“What is it this time?” Kai asked.
“Can’t you see? Come give me a hand. Can’t you be a gentleman?”
“Gentlemen are overrated… You spoilt lady.” Nonetheless, Kai still walked over to the foot of the short staircase and helped her come down majestically.
They came out of the tent. They talked a bit before getting to the carriage then a bit of noise was heard. It sounded like a scream of a girl, and it sounded close by.
Kai looked around and saw where the scream was coming from. “Ah!! There he is Prince Wilson; he looks so dreamy!”
“Where? Where is he? Ah! It’s him~!!”
“Prince Wilson….!!”
The girls screaming his name had multiplied but Kai still hadn’t seen the prince Wilson they were screaming about. He had almost turned around to enter the carriage when he heard the sound of a horse galloping close by.
It didn’t take long before people around started kneeling, and some even kowtowing to a young man dressed in golden embroidered white clothes; he looked rather royal riding on a white horse he looked majestic with his hair blowing in the wind.
As the girl had screamed, he did look dreamy. The horse stopped right in front of them. He, the young man atop the horse, opened his mouth to talk. A stiff but rather majestic baritone voice came out of his mouth.
“You do not bow to me? Sigh….I will take it as a mistake from my future sister-in-law. My brother sends his hellos. You look swell I must say, but I have to leave now these peasants’ presence irritate me. Good-by for now.” The majestic man turned his horse around and left. As he left all the girls there threw hateful glances at Chelsea.
“Who does she think she is?” Kai heard one of them say.
He was pissed. It wasn’t what the majestic man said that pissed him off, what pissed Kai off was that he was ignored, as though he was insignificant.
In suppressed anger, Kai turned around to enter the carriage and what he saw pissed him off even more. He saw Chelsea’s face which normally would be emotionless or smile-filled, visibly enraged. She looked as though she would kill the next person who spoke to her. Her eyes were no longer focused.
“Chelsea…”
—Snap, snap—
Her eyes became focused again regaining her mind from the trance she was in.
“Let’s go.” Chelsea said as she entered the carriage without anyone’s help for the first time. Kai just followed up behind.
After some time in the carriage, Chelsea’s face visibly returned to normal as she stared out the window. “Chelsea…”
“Yes, what is it?” Chelsea turned her eyes to look at Kai.
“What is wrong?” Kai asked.
“What do you mean?”
“When Prince Wilson came to us, your face changed ever so hostile and even after he left your face was still dark and gloomy,” Kai pointed out.
“It’s nothing.” Chelsea turned her face to the other side looking out the window.
“You know you can tell me anything. We might be spending an eternity together~” Kai didn’t know why, but he tried to be a little cheeky. He was just trying to find a reason… A tangible reason to hate Prince Wilson.
As soon as Kai said that, Chelsea’s gloomy face lit up. It was not as if Chelsea loved him or anything like that, she just did not like Prince Denzel at all. she would take anyone else than let Denzel take her.
“Really?”
“Anything for you, of course, I will spend my days with you~” Kai half lied, of course, he had developed feelings for Chelsea. She was all a man could hope for… But before any of that, he had to go see the world and see what that old man wanted him to do.
“When we get back Father would have to know about it.”
“Woah, don’t rush things, I have to get to know you better don’t you think?” Kai said as he leaned in closer and closer.
Fortunately, the carriage they took that day was a smaller one. As he leaned in closer, he could already feel her hot breath.
“That’s… That’s true.” Chelsea managed to say.
“So…” Kai leaned back into his part of the carriage. “Why do you hate that arsehole, Wilson?”
Chelsea regained her composure. “It’s not that I hate Wilson. I dislike his whole family. Because of them…” Tears flowed from her eyes, preventing her from speaking clearly.
Kai couldn’t explain what had come over him. The next moment Chelsea was already sitting on his legs and the shocking thing was that he was the one who pulled her in.
“Kai, what is this you are doing?” Chelsea’s face was already burning red.
“Comforting you… Go on with what you were telling me,” He whispered into her ears.
At this point, Chelsea was still stiff but still decided to keep talking. “So, the thing is they killed my mother, at least that what my father told me.” Chelsea’s eyes glistened, exposing the sadness she kept hidden within her soul.
For some reason, Chelsea had this light in her eyes. it felt like for a moment, she wasn't the sweet girl everyone knew and loved. Kai felt like he was talking to an entirely different person. it was odd. the next moment the light in her eyes was replaced, with what every one was used to.
As it turned out, Chelsea didn’t tell Kai the whole truth. “I thought you told me your mother died giving birth to you?” Kai asked in a tone that could be considered lower than a whisper.
“No, I said she died giving birth to me.” Chelsea cleaned off a bit of the tear from her cheeks with her hands.
“Should I take revenge for you?” Kai seriously didn’t know where the courage to say what he said came from but…he said it.
Chelsea was a bit shocked to hear what he had said because what it meant was that Kai was going against the king for her.
“You can’t do it, stop dreaming.” She said, as she stood up from his legs.
Drawing her back down she gasped. He said, whispering into her ears, “I. Never. Gave. You. Permission. To. Leave. Me.”
“You are crazy, I don’t need your permission!” Nevertheless, she still stayed.
“Do you want me to avenge your mother?” His voice was very solemn and grave; it was clear he meant what he said.
The truth was that, Kai had no chance against the king at this point; a flick of the finger from the king could kill him for sure.
“Sigh, Kai if you avenge me, I would be eternally grateful to you. I wouldn't know how to repay you.” Chelsea’s eyes glowed with such profoundness beyond what he ever expected of her.
“Take it as payment for what I owe.” To keep it simple, Kai had finally found a good reason to take Prince Wilson as an enemy.
“This is not because you love me?” Kai just realized that he had put himself in a tough spot as Chelsea said those words.
‘Fuck me!’ He screamed in his head, whilst maintaining a poker face.
He had to come up with something. “This is a small matter; I could never use it to prove my love for you.”
“So, you do love me?” Chelsea had the most expectant eyes Kai had ever seen. Her emerald green eyes shimmered in the sunlight. This was too much for one man to bear.
“I never said I didn’t love you.” He had to get himself out of this one.
“You love me? Then when we get back, we will let my father know of the new development.” She was really persistent, but the youthful air around her made it all pleasant.
“There…There… My dear Chelsea not yet.” Kai said, patting her head.
“As far as you still love me~” Kai began wondering what had come over this girl on his legs. “Erm…Kai, can I stand up now, if people see us word would get out that I am licentious and that would not be good for my father’s reputation.”
“You can go now.”
At that moment, it happened at a blink of the eyes. Chelsea kissed him. It was a light kiss, maybe a peck, but it sent shivers down Kai’s body, literally. He could see it did the same to Chelsea but figuratively as her face turned bright red. And she stopped making eye contact and started looking at her feet.
Kai stopped thinking and let his feelings take over, he never regretted doing what he did that day.
“Chelsea…” Kai called out.
“Mm…” Chelsea still did not make eye contact.
“Chelsea look up…”
“No…” Chelsea shook her head.
“It’s important.” Kai persuaded.
“OK.” Chelsea raised her head and that’s when it happened; two lips connected.
At first, it was just the lips, but then Kai, being him, pushed his tongue into her mouth. It was sloppy. It was wet. It was passionate.
“Mm-hmm…” Chelsea moaned into his mouth.
After some time, he stopped. Their kiss was sealed with a long string of saliva.
“Kai, what have you done?”
Chelsea looked at Kai with shock in her eyes trying to catch her breath. He could not tell if she was blushing or still trying to catch her breath, her face was beet red. “Kai…”
The ride was a long one. Longer than it was when they were heading to the academic bureau’s land. Chelsea was quiet; sometimes she glanced at Kai but she would look away if he caught her staring then she would blush every time harder than the last.
She was a young girl after all, this was the first time she was intimate with the opposite gender, it was wild for her.
The carriage was silent and peaceful, too peaceful. ‘Where was the killing intent I felt before?’ Kai asked himself.
