“What happened? Why did she suddenly get a fever?”
As he hung up the drip to reduce her fever, Qin Sijue stood beside the bed with a cold expression, clearly harboring some resentment towards Li Yuan!
“The air conditioning in the room was set too low!”
What a joke! If Sijue knew that the fever was caused by an infection at the wound site, his hospital would turn into his firing range!
“…” Qin Sijue’s dark eyes narrowed slightly, filled with suspicion, but ultimately he remained silent.
“Alright, the fever is subsiding, she should be fine now!”
“Don’t leave tonight.”
Li Yuan was packing up, planning to leave, but then he heard Qin Sijue suddenly speak.
He turned his head, a look of surprise in his eyes, “Sleep here?”
“Mhm.”
Li Yuan stared at him, trying to detect any hint in his stoic face, but in vain.
Did this woman really not know him for even a day?
“Then where do I sleep?”
“Living room, on the sofa.”
Li Yuan was instantly dissatisfied, “Hey, is this how you treat the man who saved your woman—”
Before he could finish, Qin Sijue shot him a look, and Li Yuan immediately left the room with the medical kit in silence.
The night grew deeper.
Looking at the woman sleeping soundly on the bed, a few seconds later, Qin Sijue also turned and left.
That night, Gu Qiangwei slept very peacefully.
When she woke the next day, her fever had subsided.
Yet, everything Gu Shijie had done to her wrapped around her like a nightmare.
“Don’t… let me go… let go…”
“Get away! Don’t touch me… beast… don’t touch me!”
At breakfast at eight, Qin Sijue had just reached the master bedroom door when he heard screams coming from inside.
He halted, turned toward the door of the master bedroom.
A second later, he pushed the door open.
“Don’t touch me, Gu Shijie… you beast!”
Looking at the little woman struggling in disarray on the bed, Qin Sijue’s dark eyes narrowed, and he quickly approached!
“Mom!”
Startled awake, Gu Qiangwei suddenly sat up from the bed, her eyes wide open. Her already haggard face looked even paler, with cold sweat beading on her forehead.
“What’s wrong?”
The man’s voice, like a gentle stream, echoed in the quiet room.
Gu Qiangwei turned her head sharply, her face filled with immense fear as she looked at Qin Sijue, as if she had just awakened from a nightmare.
Only when her eyes clearly saw the man in front of her did a bit of the fear in Gu Qiangwei’s heart recede. She lowered her head in relief, taking a deep breath.
The man stared at her, his gaze focused.
Pulling herself together, Gu Qiangwei looked up and glanced out the window. The harsh sunlight had already seeped in through the sheer curtains.
What time is it now?
Just as she was thinking, suddenly there was a knock at the door.
“Knock knock.”
“Mr. Qin.”
Qin Sijue turned his head and saw Luo Chen standing at the entrance of the master bedroom.
Their gazes met, and the next second, Qin Sijue turned and walked out.
Upon reaching the living room, luxurious European-style soft sofas were arranged under the falling crystal lights, grand and opulent.
“Did you find out?”
“Yes,” Luo Chen bowed his head and then continued, “Miss Gu’s father is the chairman of Gu Group. When she was twelve, Gu Zhendong married his second wife and also had a son, Gu Shijie.”
Gu Shijie?
Hearing this familiar name, Qin Sijue’s dark eyes suddenly narrowed.
The name that the woman had called out in her dream seemed to be this Gu Shijie.
“And then?”
“Recently, Gu Zhendong went on a business trip, leaving only Miss Gu’s stepmother and half-brother at home. Then last night…” Luo Chen hesitated to continue.
