[▪︎30th April 2003▪︎]
Watching Ruddy—now inside his suit—leave through the closing elevator door, I smile and stand up from my seat.
"Seraph, where is Eve now?"
I ask as I crank my head left and crack, producing acute cracking sounds, making my neck more comfortable.
[She's in her room doing some homework.]
Seraph replies causally.
Okay, then I guess I'll go and visit her right now. We have a lot to talk about. After that, I'll speak to the Guardians.
With a wave of my hand, a portal forms. I walk through it and instantly appear on a well-cared-for lawn in front of a regular two-story American house—painted orange and brown.
Up above me, a crescent moon lies hanging in the sky, streaming down moonlight that together with the street lights perfectly illuminates the quiet and peaceful neighborhood.
Inhaling deeply as a gentle cold evening breeze dances around me with the faint barking of house dogs in the background, I look up into the brightly lit room on the second floor through the square glass windows.
Smiling, I ascend silently to the window and hover when my eyes get a full view of the clean and well-organized orange-painted room.
The room is medium-sized and possesses all the necessary items and pieces of equipment with a single well-laid bed at the front and a study desk right beside it.
"Virgil?"
Sitting behind her desk in an alluring ocean blue nightgown, Eve turns towards my direction, her beautiful eyes widening as they set on me and mutters in surprise.
With a smile on my face, I make the windows roll upwards and enter while she stands up from her chair, the scented fragrance in the room filling up my nose.
Like a flash, she immediately jumps into my arms and presses her lips on anyone as she wraps her thin arms around my neck.
Wrapping my strong arms gently around her lovely slim and supple waist, I reciprocate and in seconds we find ourselves indulging in the sweet taste of our lips.
"...I've missed you."
Eve breathes as she breaks the kiss, smiling sweetly as we gaze into the eyes of each other, intense love flowing out of hers.
"I too Eve, it was torture being away from you."
I whisper and place a kiss on her small nose, soliciting a beautiful smile from her.
"Come, follow me, I wouldn't want my parents to spoil this moment for us. My dad especially can be a tad bit difficult."
She says playfully as we separate and pulls me towards the windows, I soften myself to make that possible.
Smirking at her antics, I shake my head and follow her out of the window and then both of us glide gracefully to the smooth tiled roof.
With a snap of her fingers, her nightgown glows with a pinkish light and turns into a baggy long-sleeved t-shirt and grey-fitting sweatpants.
With a smile on her pretty face—while the cold wind caresses her glossy hair—she plumps down gracefully. Looking at me, she taps the open space right next to her twice, gently.
I shrug and follow her wishes, sitting down next to her silently. She immediately presses her head on my shoulders and so I slither my right arm to her waist and wrap hold it.
"...Tell me about the alien planet you went to."
She raises her head to meet my eyes and says fondly with a smile as we enjoy the peaceful high view of the sprawling neighborhood, the street in front of us empty with only the lights in the neighboring houses in our sights.
I raise an eyebrow at this as a mysterious smile forms on my face but she just giggles.
"Oh c'mon, I haven't seen you in five days plus you owe me for not visiting earlier after the invasion."
She points out cutely with a smug smile on her face, making me chuckle.
"Fine, fine, I'll tell you. But you have to promise you'll keep it a secret."
I peck her forehead and whisper into her ear with a serious look on my face. She nods aggressively, makes her thumb and index finger touch, and then slides it across her lips.
"Trust me."
She comments with a smile and starts staring at me with her eyes full of curiosity.
... It's refreshing how she acts this way when she's around me. Well, I guess I'll satisfy her curiosity before telling her...
"It's called Talescria. A very huge planet—twice the size of Earth—and the only thing on it is an extremely wide city that stretches throughout the surface of the planet. It's also the center of an organization dedicated to fighting against Viltrumites."
I say, her face brightening as she removes her head from my shoulders and looks at me with a slightly serious face.
"Those are Mark's people, right? I heard it on the news. Oh if you aren't yet aware, an anonymous source managed to get the full recording of Mark and Omni-man's conversation and distributed it everywhere so the whole world knows it. It happened while you were away. To be honest, I got chills listening to it...not the good kind."
Eve informs seriously and sighs, seemingly remembering the recording, making me smile darkly inwards.
I already know who did that but to me they've done no harm so I don't see why I should hand him over to Cecil, besides, Omni-man has already been blackened so what does it matter if someone darkens him more?
It's kind of hilarious though that someone was able to hack into Cecil's mainframe. He needs a little humility in his life...
"Anyways, I assume you volunteered to help them fight against them?"
She shakes her head and asks seriously, soliciting a shrug from me in return.
"No not really, I just went sightseeing. I'll help them when it's time, now my focus is on protecting Earth and the people I love."
I look into her eyes and say meaningfully, bringing a healthy blush to her squishy cheeks.
"Say, I forgot to ask you this. Did you go alone or you went with someone?"
She smiles and asks casually as she rests her head on my shoulders again.
"Why do you ask?"
I raise an eyebrow and ask with a hint of amusement in my tone.
"Well, let's just say I have this nagging feeling that you went with someone. So, were you alone or you went with someone else?"
She questions again as she removes her head again from my shoulders and looks me straight in the eyes with a playful smile on her face but in her eyes, I can see her anxiety.
"I went with someone."
I remark casually and almost immediately her eyebrows furrow as she crosses her arms, now looking at me intently while her long hair flutters with the passing wind.
"...Who?"
"War Woman."
As if I just poured a bucket of cold water on her head, her arms dropped as her face soured, her eyes widening as anger flashes across her eyes.
"War Woman? What were you doing there with her?"
She frowns heavily but I can sense the small feeling of betrayal and sadness exuding from her.
Looking at her deeply, I smile and stand up to my feet. With a thought, I create a portal next to us—prompting her to stand on her feet—and stretch my open palm to her.
"Follow me, I'll explain everything where we are going."
