Chapter 14: The Phone Call
Jules' pov
The silence that stretched out right after was deafening and I knew Taylor and Jace had heard the entire exchange. When I emerged in the sitting room, the exhaustion I was currently feeling was definitely starkly plastered over my face before Taylor motioned me over at once.
He was no longer playing the games and Josh wasn't focused on the television any longer. I headed over to Taylor and flopped into the spot beside him.
"Ignore him, okay? Don't let him get to you, cause that's how he normally acts." Taylor murmured and I cracked an eye open.
"You know him?" I inquired and I watched as he exchanged a glance with Josh and let out a snort.
"Your roommate? Of course we do, everyone knows who Nick is." He explained and I found myself pondering on his name while trying to figure out what it could be that made him so mad.
"Just my luck that I get paired with a roommate like that despite the entire thing I went through in school today, which I'm certain wouldn't suddenly leave me tomorrow." I muttered with a frown.
Taylor flopped into the large couch and I realized that it could literally serve as a bed at the same time.
"Don't take Nick's attitude to heart. He's just in one of his moods, that's it." Taylor explained but I couldn't help it. If we're going to be roommates, we're supposed to be on good terms at least.
This is all Andrian's fault cause I never asked for any of this luxurious shit.
"I think I should probably take some things from this sitting room to my bedroom, perhaps it would make Nick less mad or something." I proposed but Josh waved the idea off, claiming that Nick would end up coming around, and I held unto those words with everything in me.

When I got into my bedroom, a startled breath escaped my lungs as I glanced around and took it all in. The entire place had been completely transformed from the bland room I remembered leaving behind this morning.
It almost resembled the setting of my room back at home and that made tears spring to my eyes, one which I hurriedly blinked away because I was certain that one I let it flow, it won't stop until I end up falling asleep.
A brand new phone was atop the bed covers, one which was already set up. I picked it up and thumbed through it and in its contacts, Andrian's number was already saved and I dialed it at once.
"I take it you've seen your newly reinovated room and is calling to thank me because you were completely wowed and absolutely loved my thoughtfulness, right?" He asked and I found myself breathing out a soft laugh as I carefully sat on the bed. As my eyes wander around, I caught sight of more tiny things that reminded me of my bedroom back at home.
It was like Andrian had sent someone to go take a picture of the old bedroom, then he had sent it over to the people in charge of turning this dorm from basic to luxurious.
That warmed my heart immensely and made my eyes start to water once again.
"You really outdid yourself for my bedroom, it feels more like home now, although you really didn't have to go through all that steps cause you've helped me enough as it is." I admitted while absentmindedly flicking my fingers and trying to ignore the depressing feeling weighing in my chest at the fact that I really couldn't perform magic anymore.
On a normal day, me flicking my fingers right now could conjure pretty sparkles on a normal day. Being unable to do any of that because of my magic being locked up made me want to claw my heart out.
"I know, but I wanted to because I can't imagine how traumatic it was for you to lose your entire family in one day, and then being forced to enroll in a school immediately for your safety. It must be a lot on your shoulders right now." Andrian spoke softly and the emotion in his voice tugged and my slackened heartstrings.
I blinked a couple of times and sucked in a deep breath as I made to respond. "Thank you for being this thoughtful, and got everything else."
Andrian probably caught the crack in my voice and chose to change the subject at once. "So, how was your first day at school?"
I grimaced as the question danced around my mind.
"It was honestly horrible." I responded flatly.
Andrian was shocked. "I thought you were keeping a low profile?" He asked and I let out a scoff.
"I was, but I still managed to get a lot of attention despite that. I got bullied a bunch of times. Got my snkle twisted, almost got drowned and I even broke a record for visiting the school infirmary twice on my first day of resumption."
Once I was done speaking, Andrian was shocked into silence for the first few seconds.
"Oh wow." He breathed out and I flopped into the bed as exhaustion engulfed me once again.
Andrian expressed his worry and even considered withdrawing me from the school but we both knew this school was my safest option for hiding at.
After a little, the call came to an end.
"You went a little overboard with the sitting room set up though." I pointed out but Andrian only laughed and reassured me that that was nothing. He also informed me that since the school was filled with a bunch of rich folks, he did all that because he wanted me to blend in and not to stand out.
I wasn't sure he managed to achieve that but I decided against commenting on it.
Once the call finally ended, I let the phone bounce on the bed as I sucked in a deep breath as I let my mind wander around aimlessly.

I wasn't sure of when I dozed off, but the sounds of reoccurring knocks jolted me out of my sleep. I groggily stepped out of my bedroom while wondering why my rude roommate couldn't get the door.
When I pulled the door open, it was to Taylor and Josh, looking like they were dressed for a fashion parade taking place on a runway.
I blinked at them bearily.
"You aren't dressed yet?"
