Toujou Miki slowly turned, her purple hair flowing in the wind, her emerald eyes filled with determination. "Then, will you have a relationship with me?"
Haru was speechless. He stared at the beautiful purple-haired girl, her hair cascading down her back, and swallowed hard. Honestly, Toujou Miki's allure was incredibly potent.
Her cloud-like deep purple hair was tied in two sections with pink ribbons and flowed down to her waist. She was dressed in a pure white Hime Miko outfit, a scarlet ribbon tied around her waist.
She had a delicate, heart-shaped face, slightly rounded, which only enhanced her beauty. When she smiled, two playful dimples appeared on her cheeks, adding a touch of innocence. Her skin, exposed where the Miko outfit didn't cover, was as white as snow.
Combined with the naturally serene aura she had from years of living at the shrine and her curvaceous figure, unlike most women, if she were to confess to any man, her success rate would be incredibly high.
"Why would you think that?" Although Haru couldn't help but feel delighted, a sense of caution rose within him. The tragic outcome of his neighbor, the Oppai Dragon, first love was a stark reminder. Haru didn't want to follow in his footsteps.
"As you've probably heard from the Monkey God, I don't have much time left." Toujou Miki paused for a moment before continuing.
"I remember, when I was six years old, the Kuhoutsuka family, who were traveling the country at the time, discovered my power of Calamity. I was then forced to serve the Monkey God. It's been over 200 years now." Toujou Miki frowned, her face etched with resignation as she recalled her past experiences.
"Actually, you're the only boy I've ever been close to." Toujou Miki winked playfully at Haru, who was staring at her in a daze, and couldn't help but laugh.
"What the hell? That's not possible! You're already… how old are you again?" Haru looked at Toujou Miki in disbelief. 230 years old and this was her first close encounter with a boy? It seemed too absurd to be true.
"I'm a Miko serving a god, so purity of both body and mind is mandatory. Thanks to that, I'm still single. At this point, I'm practically unmarriageable," Toujou Miki said, her face darkening as she mentioned her age, a sensitive topic.
"So, because you don't have much time left, you want to experience love before you die? You should know that my appearance fee is quite high." Haru unabashedly scanned Toujou Miki's body. Did she expect a Devil King to let go of meat that was already on his plate? Did she think he was a vegetarian? Haru, the scum, wouldn't even spare his sister or his adopted mother.
Toujou Miki spread her arms and twirled, dancing gracefully beneath the setting sun. "Judging by your expression, you're quite satisfied with the appearance fee, aren't you?"
They were at a café called "Pucelle" (French for "maiden") on a street in Nikko City.
From the outside, it looked like a decent establishment, likely privately owned rather than a chain store. The shop was decorated with warm-colored wood, a sign with a French name hung in front, and a board by the entrance displayed the day's specials.
At a window table in the second-to-last row, Haru, dressed in a white shirt, sat facing Toujou Miki, who wore a white kimono with red trim.
Their handsome and beautiful appearances attracted the attention of those around them.
"Come sit here. Lovers usually sit side by side, not facing each other." Haru looked at Toujou Miki, who seemed slightly nervous across from him.
"Eh? Is that so? You're quite experienced, Your Majesty." Toujou Miki looked at the Devil King with a strange expression, then stood up and sat down to Haru's right.
"Just theoretically. In reality, I've only ever been with Sora like this. And from now on, call me Haru. That's what lovers call each other, understand?" Haru flipped through the menu board, looking at the pictures of the dishes.
Toujou Miki blushed, shyly calling out, "Haru."
"That's right. The shop's special pasta looks pretty good for an appetizer. For the main course, let's have Beef Bourguignon, with seven-colored vegetable jelly. That should be enough. This place seems to have special desserts and coffee too. What about you, Miki?" Haru ticked off the items on the menu, then handed it to Toujou Miki beside him.
"Um… um…" Toujou Miki stared at the menu, flustered.
"Oh! You haven't had French cuisine before?" Haru suddenly realized that the girl, who had never left the confines of Nikko Toshogu Shrine, probably only ate Japanese food and had never had the opportunity to try French cuisine.
"Yes. I've only heard of it. This is my first time trying foreign food." Toujou Miki looked around, taking in the exotic atmosphere, so different from the Japanese style. Although the café was in Japan, the chef was a true Parisian. Influenced by him, the décor was authentically Parisian.
"Then we'll have the same thing." Haru stealthily reached out and pulled Toujou Miki into his arms.
her face flushing bright red. The people around them looked at them with kind smiles, probably assuming they were a young couple experiencing Parisian romance.
Toujou Miki's heightened senses as a Hime Miko made her acutely aware of everyone's gaze. She turned away, burying her face in Haru's chest, her ears burning.
After enjoying a delicious meal, Haru held Toujou Miki's left hand tightly with his right and led her, still in a shy state, into the movie theater.
"...Here you go." Haru emerged from the concession stand, holding popcorn and two cups of cola. He handed one to Toujou Miki.
"What's this?" Toujou Miki looked at the cold plastic cup of cola in her hand curiously, her face filled with confusion.
"It's a must-have for watching movies. Come on, let's go watch the movie." Haru led Toujou Miki towards the screening room.
"Movie?" Toujou Miki looked at Haru's back questioningly, muttering this unfamiliar term.
Three hours later, Haru regretted his choice. Although it was normal for couples to have dinner and watch a movie, there were alternatives, like going to an amusement park instead.
Why did the scumbag Haru regret it? The problem was obvious – it was the movie itself.
"Haru, if you were Kitahara, would you choose Kazusa or Setsuna?" Toujou Miki asked, her face stained with tears, as she looked at him.
This was the reason for Haru's breakdown. When would this "choose one of two heroines" trope, so beloved by fans of romance anime, ever leave him alone? Why did the world of Campiones also have melodramas akin to White Album?
Haru looked helplessly at Toujou Miki, who seemed determined to get to the bottom of this. "I wouldn't let go of either!"
"That's very much in line with a Devil King's style." Toujou Miki laughed, tears streaming down her face.
Afterward, Haru led Toujou Miki to their final destination for their date: the Nikko Grand Hotel.
