Chapter 290
There were other ways to accomplish this without having to choose one person. After all, I wouldn’t just be visiting their parents for a day, and there would be plenty of opportunities in the future.
I could have changed my appearance to match theirs with transformation magic, used the Necklace of Transformation created by the Grand Mage Valeria, or even borrowed an artifact from Ibrante.
More extremely, I could have used the power of the god and the demon god to turn back time and restore their youth. After all, they had turned back time for a human, so changing their appearance would be child’s play.
But my girlfriends didn’t seem to think so.
“Well, nice to meet you… sir.”
Beatrice, who was usually dressed in a neat maid outfit, was now wearing a flowing white one-piece dress and was blushing shyly. I stared at her in shock and confusion.
“Beatrice? Why are you…?”
“I, sir. It’s…”
Beatrice closed her eyes and called me by my name on Earth. She seemed unsure of what to do. Laura nodded.
“That’s right. When you arrive on Earth, you will be in a relationship with Mira. It’s only natural for lovers to call each other by their names. Also, keep in mind that your name is not Beatrice, but Jung Da-in.”
“Yes, yes… I understand… I understand…”
Beatrice kept repeating what she had said, unable to hide her embarrassment. Eventually, she was deemed to need more education, and Rosalia and Priscilla each took one of her arms and dragged her away.
“What happened?”
When the three of them were out of sight, I opened my mouth.
“As I mentioned in the text, there was a lot of difficulty in choosing who would go first. No one was willing to give in, so we changed our perspective. If we couldn’t reach a conclusion, we wouldn’t be able to make it in time, so we decided to send someone else. This led to a dramatic agreement, and Beatrice was chosen.”
“Why Beatrice?”
“At first, we considered sending Karna… but she has lived her life with only swords in mind. She’s been a Royal Guard and the first disciple of the Sword Saint for nearly a decade, so while she knows the etiquette of meeting someone as a knight, she’s not very familiar with the etiquette of a woman. It would take too much time to completely change her habits, so she declined.”
It would be difficult for Karna to act like an ordinary person right away. After all, she had grown up with swords since she was a child, and her experience as a Royal Guard and the first disciple of the Sword Saint, a notorious killer, would make it hard for her to shake off her unconscious habits.
While her disciplined movements might be excusable as those of a hunter, she would need to be taught about the customs of Earth from scratch.
“On the other hand, Beatrice already knows the etiquette, having been to Earth once before. It should be possible to teach her enough to not arouse suspicion within the given time frame. Although it may not be perfect, it should be enough to not raise suspicions. Most importantly, it’s the first priority to not give a strange impression.”
“….Do you really think that’s enough?”
I cautiously asked. After all, Beatrice was an outsider in this world. No matter how difficult it was to reach a conclusion, was it really okay to make such a concession to an outsider?
“I knew you’d ask that. We’ve all come to a compromise, so we’re not going to argue about it. None of us want to give in when it comes to the first one, so we had to find a way to narrow it down. If you had chosen one of us, there would have been no need for all this. But since you didn’t, we had to find another way.”
In summary, this was what it amounted to. They were all jealous and wanted to be the first one, but their love for me was greater, so they had taken a step back.
“If you’re grateful for that, use a lot of strength when you return to the mansion. Erestika has raided my father’s treasure vault.”
Laura whispered.
“…. .”
“Anyway, we’ve already reached an agreement among ourselves, so we won’t accept any objections. Beatrice is fine with everyone. At one point, there was even a suggestion to send Aria, but that was quickly dismissed. After all, she’s the type to stay locked up and never come out.”
“….That’s true.”
Aria was living quietly in one of the annexes of my family’s mansion. She occasionally met with Leona, but beyond that, she didn’t seem to be doing much else.
I couldn’t ask Aria about their conversations, as Leona kept them strictly confidential. I could only hope that their relationship was improving.
Aria avoided me whenever she saw me. According to Leona, Aria still had the same feelings for me, but she was unsure of how to act, so she was avoiding me.
Aria used to be obsessed with me because I was the “real person” she had been looking for, but now that reason no longer existed, and only her feelings remained.
“We’re here!”
“We’re back.”
Soon after, Priscilla and Rosalia returned with Beatrice, who was still being pulled along by them. Beatrice was still being held by one arm each, and she was shyly fidgeting.
“Well, out with it.”
“Just do what you taught me, right?”
At the urging of the two, Beatrice began to speak.
“Yoo, Yoo Sung… Yoo Sung Sung Sung Sung Sung…”
“Oh, it’s broken.”
“…. .”
Would she be able to pull it off?
Contrary to my worries, Beatrice performed her given role almost perfectly. If she didn’t do it right, I would be suspected, and this seemed to have a big impact on her.
My parents really liked Beatrice.
Even though the average income was high, it was a plus that she was an ordinary person instead of a hunter, who could die at any time. The fact that her every movement was polite was also a plus.
Occasionally, she would use formal speech or call me “sir” out of habit, or try to do all the housework because she was too enthusiastic, but these were minor incidents.
My parents thought it was cute that she was so nervous. They thought she was just using a term of endearment for me because she usually called me “sir.”
It was definitely a plus that she was good at housework.
“Hey, why is your maid here?”
Of course, Kang Youna was quite surprised to see Beatrice, who she had met when she went to the other world. After all, a maid who usually served her was suddenly acting like my girlfriend.
“They couldn’t decide who to send, so Beatrice came instead. Did you do your part, sis?”
“Yes. Why wouldn’t I? But there wasn’t much to tell you. That lady is so smart. She figured out everything with just a few hints.”
“Lady?”
“Why? Isn’t she a lady…?”
At my meaningful glance, Kang Yuna tried to explain. She seemed to feel guilty about something.
In terms of actual age, it was true. The number in front would be in the thirties, approaching forty. Beatrice’s age was always a mystery.
“Didn’t you forget that you introduced yourself as twenty-three years old here? You’re six years older than me, so why are you calling me ‘sister’?”
“Ugh… I won’t call you that in front of Mom and Dad…”
I heard mumbling. It had been helpful that she had scored points in advance. If she hadn’t, the use of formal speech or the use of the term “sir” might have been seen as strange rather than cute.
“Well, gee… You’re here… You were here, weren’t you…?”
Beatrice, who had been grabbed by my parents for a separate conversation, suddenly appeared with her arms crossed. Her face was a mixture of embarrassment and joy, and her hands and feet were trembling slightly.
“Yes. What’s wrong, Da-in?”
“!!!!!!!”
Beatrice made an incredibly intense face, then her legs seemed to give out and she almost collapsed. I held her up by the waist and pulled her towards me.
Kang Yuna looked at her with a puzzled expression.
“….You’re really persistent, aren’t you? How many times have you done this to be so calm?”
“It’s not that I’m calm, it’s just that I can’t leave her like this. And when I was younger, She did even more extreme things. It was her who took the lead, not me.”
Beatrice had taken care of me instead of my parents, so she had seen and heard everything. It was only natural that this level of skinship wouldn’t be a problem.
“No, that’s… never mind. You’ll find out later.”
