Chapter 1031: The Rivers Of Time
-----
After making sure everything was good, I pressed the "yes" button without hesitation, I already wanted to evolve and level up using all the accumulated EXP I got, it should be more than enough to get a lot of levels.
FLASH!
The moment I pressed yes, a flash of bright gray and golden light engulfed my whole body. I suddenly felt countless streams of essence coming from my surroundings, rushing towards me.
From the heavens and the earth, these streams never ended coming, appearing by the hundreds! They encompassed me completely, as I felt that my entire body was being encapsulated into some sort of cocoon.
"W-What is this?"
I had to admit, I panicked a bit. It was rather surprising how everything was happening. But I closed my eyes and let it all go through.
And as I began to evolve, I felt a strange sensation, my consciousness was being dragged elsewhere, it felt like I was sliding through a long river.
And then I reached somewhere, a place of endless streams of silver and white energies, flowing constantly.
"Where… Where am I?"
I found myself on my purest form, my soul itself.
There seemed to be a gray sand where there were no rivers of light.
"…"
I stood up and started walking around, trying to make sense of whatever I was experiencing right now.
"This water… Is it really water?"
I kneeled and touched the flowing rivers.
FLASH!
Yet my mind was immediately absorbed by it, as I was engulfed into a vision.
The world of Arcadia crumbling apart, the Continent of Verdant on flames, everything was carbonized and destroyed.
Countless armies of demons rushed everywhere, destroying everything.
Billions of lives were lost.
And in the middle of everything, a gigantic blazing crater, where a massive titan with countless arms, heads, legs, and wings spread flames and demons everywhere.
"This world you created… I will end it."
Surrounding him were dozens of corpses of beings that weren't quite humanoid and weren't quite spirits. They glowed still, even as they were dead, with bright, colorful divinities.
The titan grabbed them with his giant claws and devoured them one after another, his powers growing tremendously.
"Please… Erebus… No more!"
There was only a single of them alive, a beautiful woman with long pale green hair, made out of plants, her emerald eyes crying.
"Gaia…"
The demonic titan glared down at her.
"You didn't… had to do this… Please… t-there's still time, my son… please…!"
"Because you raised me with love, I will not eat you."
He encompassed her into a capsule of flames.
"You will watch as the world ends, at my side… mother."
"Erebus, no… Please… PLEASE STOP!"
She was too weak to stop him, as the demon conjured the divinities of the gods, and manipulated the very laws of the world.
Everything began to be destroyed.
The seas evaporated, the continents began breaking down, the planet's core exploded.
It was the end of the world of Arcadia.
"This is my true purpose, mother…"
"NOOOO!"
As her scream reverberated across the cataclysm, everything turned black.
Yet she remained…
"Erebus… Sniff… I'm sorry… This is all my fault… If I hadn't… If I hadn't let them seal you, if I hadn't let them manipulate me… I… I could have stopped this." She kept weeping. "My son… I'm so sorry…"
The vision slowly started to fade away, but I was able to see something before that.
A glimpse.
It was a small explosion of white light coming from the eternal darkness' horizon.
A flash of pure white light, which had a single eye of silver light.
It moved towards her, but the vision ended there, before I could see anything else.
"Hahhh… Hahhh… W-What was that?! What did I just see?!"
I screamed; I couldn't contain my feelings.
It was so twisted, so terrible!
"D-Did this truly happen? Where am I? Wasn't I going to just evolve? Why… Why did I had to see that?"
I couldn't contain my emotions, which had become a swirl, tears fell from my eyes.
Why…?
Why did everything had to end?
"So you saw it, huh? You touched the Rivers of Time."
A voice echoed from afar, no, everywhere.
Wherever I looked, there was simply silver and white light.
Yet this voice came from everywhere all at once.
"W-Who is it?"
Suddenly, the rivers of time began to move differently, gathering within a singular point.
That same silver and white light I saw at the end of the vision, that had appeared out of nowhere, it combined in front of me, taking some sort of shape.
It spread out angelic wings, and had a single, silver eye.
"You, the ancient one that survived, you, the one that lived after everything ended, you, the one that made that contract with me. We see again, Gaia."

"Eh? What? I'm not… Gaia? What are you talking about?"
"…"
He remained in silence, and then spoke again.
"Oh? It seems that I was mistaken. You're not her? How strange…" He said. "Or perhaps… No, but that's… Hm."
"Who are you? Are you that light that appeared at the end of that vision?"
"You met my children already, the Administrators," the light spoke. "This is nothing but a fragment of my true self, an aspect. I am known as the Regulator; I oversee it all… You may also know me as the System."
"Eh?!"
Wait, for real?
The System itself is in front of me?!
"I don't represent it entirely. The System is boundless, it exists in every particle, in every living being, it has assimilated it all. It was born from the Void left behind after Arcadia was destroyed," said the entity. "I am but one of its aspects, I oversee Time."
"Time…"
"Wait, so the System was born when Arcadia was destroyed?!"
"There is not much time, your stay here was limited. But I am glad you were able to see a part of the past… Or of the many pasts. Time has been rearranged and combined, the past, the present, and the future coexists as one." He spoke. "This was the Will of the Core."
"The will of the Core? Who is this Core- Wait, wait, wait, too many revelations at once! I can hardly process everything!"
"I'm sorry, but you've absorbed enough Time Essence, your Heart should be more than full. Now go back, your evolution is about to end. I wish you good luck, Bridge."
"Bridge…?"
