Chapter 33: Out of the darkness
"Urgh... Am I alive...?" Soren weakly muttered, as he took off the helmet and rubbed his eyes, while trying to remember the events that transpired, before turning his head towards the expected direction of Neil and Morgan, but once he turned his head fully opened his eyes, his eyes saw an unfamiliar white room with black displays on the wall and an empty IV drip connected to his right arm. Seeing those, Soren then turned his head around the room and found empty white beds, partitions, medicine bags and other kinds of medical equipment placed on various shelves and cabinets and at that moment, he realized that he was in a hospital.
'How long was I there?' Soren thought to himself, as he examined the empty IV drip and tried to move his body around to get a feel for his condition. Seeing as his body movement was the same as usual, he took off the needle out of his arm carefully and got off his bed, before stretching his body a bit and leaving the room to get his bearings. Leaving the room, he entered an empty black hall, making feel like as if the hospital room he was previously in, was completely disconnected from reality. Seeing the dark hall in front of him, Soren wondered if he was still in whatever place he was previously, or if this was just a horror-themed hospital and everyone was on break currently.
"Hello? Is anyone out there?" He called out in the dark hall, hoping for some sort of response, but the only response he got in return, was the deafening silence, paired with the loud beats of his heart. Seeing the dark hall in front of him, Soren wasn't keen on exploring it and would rather wait for either a nurse or doctor to appear, but his gut feeling was telling him that no one would come. While he was considering his next course of action, the hospital room started forming cracks on its corners and within a matter of seconds, the cracks nearly engulfed the entire room, forcing Soren to immediately escape out of the hospital room. After he escaped it, he witnessed the hospital room's disintegration until there was nothing left of it, leaving him standing in the dark hall with no light to guide him.
'No going back...' Soren thought to himself with a nervous expression, as he was staring down the dark hallway, before starting to walk through it. As he was walking down the hallway, he was expecting to see other hospital rooms since he did wake up in one, but aside from his own, there were no such rooms in the dark hallway. Aside from that, he was starting to feel increasingly uncomfortable, as the isolation was starting to stress him out and if it wasn't for the sounds of his own footsteps, he felt like he would have gone mad by now.
While walking down, a different kind of noise entered his ears, as some sort of slimy noise was echoing through the halls, but Soren couldn't pinpoint its direction, since he felt like the noise was coming from all directions. Hearing this kind of noise, Soren increased his walking pace, but the slimy noise didn't seem to become louder or quieter, as if it was playing from a certain distance, so in response, he turned his fast walk into a sprint, hoping he would be able to escape it. Unfortunately, the noise always came from a certain distance away and it was slowly starting to drive him insane. But the sound didn't last for long, since all the sounds ceased to exist and a falling sensation engulfed his body once more, before experiencing a crushing and painful sensation.
...
"HAAAAAAAAAA! F*CK ME IT HURTS! IT HURTS! IT HURTS! IT HURTS! PLEASE MAKE IT- end..." Soren yelled out in sheer agony from the pain he experienced, as his body rose from a white hospital bed, before someone grabbed from behind and pricked him with a needle and a wave of fatigue and sleepiness slowly took over, until he fell into a deep sleep.
*sigh* "At least he was cooperative..." A nurse commented with a sigh of relief, as she wiped the needle from the syringe, before throwing it into the trash and leaving the hospital room where Soren was currently resting and arriving right in front of Morgan, who looked like he was currently fast asleep on a waiting chair.
"Dr.Morgan, mister Pascianno has woken up, although he woke up in a state of panic and fear, probably from a traumatic experience. If I'm allowed sir, may I what happened for him to wake up in such a manner?" The nurse stated in a calm manner, as Morgan sighing with relief from hearing Soren's non life-threatening condition.
"It's nothing to worry about nurse, just the usual close call. *groan* Give it a little while and he'll be fine." Morgan stated slightly sleepily, as he entered Soren's hospital room and asked. "So, how long until his sedative medicine wears off?"
"I only administered a small dose, so he should be able to wake up withing a few minutes. If you need anyone sir, just press the button on the side of the patient's bed." After the nurse explained that, she left the room, leaving Morgan alone with Soren, who was currently fast asleep.
*sigh* "I should have forced you out of this mess when I had the chance. I've really grown soft to you, haven't I Soren?" Morgan muttered weakly, while staring at Soren's sleeping body, as if he was just fast asleep and nothing else was happening to, despite knowing that Soren was thrown into an unknown area with no preparations. "But when I saw your eyes, brimming with energy and joy, despite acting nonchalantly about the game... Maybe... Just maybe... you would have been able to enjoy life a bit more, instead of... *sigh* Live for yourself for once, at least..."
'Don't try to waste to waste your youth on a lingering memory.' As he uttered those words inwardly, Morgan couldn't help but sigh, because he truly couldn't bring himself to utter those words in front of Soren, even in an unconscious state, since he knew very well what the little house meant to him, especially every since he took over it, after the previous owner passed away of old age.
"Urgh... F*ck... Who in the wha..." Soren uttered weakly, as he was currently trying to process the events that happened when he first woke up before being sedated by the nurse. As he was trying to get from the hospital bed, he heard Morgan's relieved voice calling to him. "Soren! Thank the gods that you're fine."
"Oh, doctor! Wait, am I in the actual reality!?" Soren asked desperately, as he heard Morgan's voice and hoped that it wasn't illusion or a hallucination.
"You are back in the real world, indeed. Don't worry, you made it back safely. I imagine you went through to hell to get back, didn't you?"
*sigh* "You don't say doc... You don't say... You won't try to gaslight, trick or lie to me or anything of that kind?"
"Honestly, I'd be impressed if I somehow managed to up with something even remotely convincing for your little trip in the other city." Morgan stated in a joking manner, but seeing Soren's serious expression, he knew that it wasn't currently the time for jokes, before speaking in a serious manner. "So, what did you see there Soren? What did you go through?"
