Chapter 454: Chapter 330: They Seem like a Match Made in Heaven_3

As she finished speaking, she gave Mo Shiting a radiant smile and wave, “Hello, brother-in-law.”

The term ‘brother-in-law’ was delivered with a certain degree of warmth and familiarity.

It is all thanks to Mo Shiting, otherwise, Gu Li and Brother Si might have ended up becoming a couple.

“Hello.”

Mo Shiting responded with a small nod and a brief greeting.

He had researched Gu Susu and knew that she helped Gu Li escape from the Gu family several times. Even though her motives were not pure, she indirectly helped his relationship with Gu Li, so he accepted her as his sister-in-law.

“Little Pear, where are you sitting? Shall we sit together?”

Murong Si completely ignored Mo Shiting’s presence, stepping right next to Gu Li, obviously intent on linking up with her.

Mo Shiting knitted his brows slightly, but Gu Li said, “The seating here is pre-arranged. We probably can’t just sit wherever we want. Brother Si, you should stay with Susu and have a good time.”

Unexpectedly rebutted by Gu Li, Murong Si’s eyes darkened, hinting at his displeasure.

Just as he was about to open his mouth, Gu Susu anxiously interjected, “Exactly! We’re not children who have to sit together. The auction is about to start. Brother Si, our seats are over there. Let’s go.”

Murong Si clenched his fist, visibly annoyed by Gu Susu’s insistence on dragging him away. At this moment, he regretted bringing Gu Susu along.

The auctioneer had already taken the stage, indicating the auction was about to begin.

Murong Si had no choice but to let Gu Susu drag him away.

Watching them leave, Gu Li heaved a sigh of relief, thinking, ‘Aima, what on Earth are those two doing in Hua Country? I have a feeling they’re up to no good.’

“What are you thinking about?”

Mo Shiting’s deep voice interrupted Gu Li’s thoughts.

Gu Li came back to her senses and replied truthfully, “Nothing, just a bit worried about Gu Susu. She can be a bit naive, I’m afraid she might get into trouble in a foreign country.”

Mo Shiting patted her shoulder, “I’ll have someone covertly protect her, don’t worry.”

“Okay, thank you, Brother Ting,” Gu Li gratefully acknowledged.

Mo Shiting leaned in and whispered into her ear, so only the two of them could hear, “If you want to thank me, why not show me with some real action tonight?”

Catching his insinuation, Gu Li’s cheeks flushed. She couldn’t help but playfully pinch his waist, “In your dreams.”

“I’m not dreaming, I want you.”

Gu Li: “…”

The sight of the two flirting didn’t escape Murong Si’s gaze. The man’s deep eyes momentarily constricted, stirring a surge of anger.

Gu Susu, sitting next to Murong Si, also witnessed the lovey-dovey scene between the couple. She deliberately commented, “Brother Si, they’re such a cute couple, right? Little Pear has liked Mo Shiting for so many years, and finally got her wish. I’m so happy for them. Brother Si, you’re so good to Little Pear, you must be happy for them too, right?”

Murong Si sharply reprimanded her with a cold expression, “Shut up. If you don’t speak, no one will think you’re dumb.”

“Tsk! Can’t even make a comment now?” Gu Susu muttered under her breath.

Murong Si’s face grew even grimmer, so he decided to focus his attention back on the stage.

Seeing this, Gu Susu sat up straighter, cheerfully pleased with herself.

The seating arrangement for Mo Shiting and Gu Li was somewhat secluded, resulting in them being sat at the back.

The moment the two were seated, the stage lights were fully lit and the music started, marking the official commencement of the auction.

After the auctioneer’s stirring opening remarks, the first item of the night was brought up for auction.

“Brother Ting, did you come here because there’s something you’re interested in?” Gu Li quietly asked Mo Shiting.

“Yes.”

Mo Shiting nodded.

“What is it?”

Her curiosity was piqued.

Mo Shiting replied, “A painting.”

“Oh? Whose masterpiece is it?” Gu Li was even more intrigued.

Mo Shiting didn’t answer her, instead leaving her hanging, “You’ll find out soon enough.”

“Hmph!”

Without an answer, Gu Li, in annoyance, playfully rolled her eyes at him, and gave his leg a light kick.

Mo Shiting indulged her childish behaviour with a hidden tenderness in his eyes.

Meanwhile, Gu Susu couldn’t resist asking Murong Si, “Brother Si, did you come all this way because there’s something you want to acquire?”

Murong Si simply replied with a gloomy look in his eyes, “Yes.”

“What is it?”

“A painting.”

Gu Susu: “What?!”

Had he really come all this way for a painting? Whose masterpiece could it be?

On the stage, the auction was in full swing. They were about to start bidding for the third item.

The auctioneer introduced it as a crown worn by a past empress of Hua Country, starting bid 1 million.

“Do you like it?” Mo Shiting leaned over and asked Gu Li.

Gu Li shook her head, “Not really, but my sister would probably like it. Why not bid for it as a gift for her?”

Mo Shiting: “…”

He thought for a moment then raised his card, “1.1 million.” Anyway, he could try to get Lu Cong to cover the cost later.

“1.2 million.”

Without any hesitation, Murong Si raised his bid against Mo Shiting.
