chapter 45
45 – God whispers, get some exercise
Road to the Church. Kyle stared blankly out the window.
The saintess had been memorizing her prayers with her eyes closed earlier.
Looking at her, Kyle was involuntarily amazed.
‘… Are you memorizing all of that? Is that a real person?’
I think I memorized the prayer from about 10 minutes ago, and I still do.
Are you memorizing the same prayer over and over again? But it wasn’t either.
From beginning to end, the words and contents of the prayers that came out of the saintess’ mouth were all different.
I wonder if the basic condition of a saintess is an insane level of memorization.
It would have been great if I had done a little better exercise over there.
It was only natural for me to feel that way.
“Brother Kyle.”
At the moment I wondered if I should have brought a dumbbell and exercised.
Fortunately, the saintess opened her eyes and called Kyle, as if the prayer was over.
“I knew that person earlier, the lady of the Grand Duchess of Littorio. Is that right?”
“Yes. That person is Elga. But why are you asking that all of a sudden?”
“Because they seem to be getting along better than I thought. I thought you had a rough relationship with the Grand Duke of Littorio.”
One of those who stimulated John Nassen’s Leah is Littorio’s second son.
In the process, his second son was injured and had to take a leave of absence from the academy.
Regardless of the circumstances before and after the work, the relationship between John Nassen and Littorio is very strained.
That, the saintess seemed to be thinking.
“We don’t get along very well, but it’s not awkward either. Not too long ago, I even wrote a letter of apology to the Grand Duchess of Littorio on behalf of John Nassen.”
“You said you apologized even though it came to the conclusion that Baron John Nassen was not at fault?”
“I thought that would be good for both families.”
At Kyle’s words, the saintess made an expression of admiration.
I suddenly wondered why, but the saintess’ next words were the reason.
“Apologizing to someone is harder than you think. Moreover, if there is no reason to apologize, no one would want to show the first bow. In fact, many people can’t even say that apology. Pride blocks it, or it’s because I don’t want to bend.”
“I didn’t do anything that great, well. It is a very minor thing.”
“Yes. It’s a small thing. But the world is a place that changes with just that little thing.”
So, Brother Kyle, you are a very good man. She whispered
, Holding Kyle’s hand and praying for her.
‘… Well. Honestly, while writing the apology, I really wanted to do it like this.’
Since she decided to go to the academy, she felt that it was the best thing she did.
As expected, the old adage that good deeds are rewarded is not wrong.
*
“Brother Kyle?”
“… Ah.”
At the touch of her saintess, Kyle hurriedly raised her body.
She must have dozed off while staring blankly out of her window.
In a space where you can’t do anything, you save your energy by even sleeping.
And that saved stamina, when needed, draws out like an explosion.
Was John Nassen’s teaching, and Kyle was following it at some point.
Not skipping meals and sleeping on time are all reasons for that.
Avoid anything that can cause even a slight loss to combat power!
That was also John Nassen’s other will and code of conduct.
‘I’m sure it’s not like they said they fell asleep.’
If that’s really the case, I wonder if I should get down on my knees and commit the mortal sin of plaster.
I don’t know about other people, but I want to show only a good and wonderful image to the saintess.
The praise that comes out of Choi Ae-kae’s mouth is as daunting as the increase in her muscles.
“Are you tired? Sorry. Because I asked to go too early….”
However, the words that came out of the saintess’ mouth were apologies, not bruises.
Kyle was just bored, so she automatically went into sleep mode to conserve her stamina.
She was showing signs of apologetic thinking that even that was her fault.
“Absolutely not. It’s just that she dozed off for a while. So there is no need to apologize.”
“Then, fortunately… Please let me know if you are tired. You know?”
“I will definitely do that. So, no more apologies.”
She was a saint who only then regained a smile on her lips.
That smile is so pretty that Kyle admits even if God puts a thunderbolt in her saying, ‘Make my precious saint apologize for her!’ She will be sweetened.
“Well, but why did you suddenly call me… ?”
“Ah! I just arrived.”
“Arrived… You mean the Church Headquarters?”
“Yes! If you look outside the window, you will see a completely different landscape!”
As the saintess said, the scenery beyond her carriage was completely different from before.
This sacred land, full of white buildings and signs of the Church.
A city dedicated to God in the empire, a place recognized as a church’s autonomous territory.
A city was the dwelling place of those who followed the gods, formed as a whole cult.
The speed of the wagon gradually decreases, and then it comes to a complete stop.
I wondered if I could feel the bustle outside, but soon the door opened.
With a bright halo of light, a number of priests and paladins can be seen beyond the door.
The saintess who was smiling while looking at them opened her mouth.
“Welcome to Church Headquarters, Brother Kyle.”
Kyle, who got off the carriage following the saintess, had to exclaim.
The Church was a bigger and more beautiful place than I expected.
“… It’s a great place.”
“Right? Everyone was so impressed at first.”
Kyle, who was walking after the saintess, glanced at the priests who were bowing her head.
At least the paladins standing behind him show traces of effort.
No matter how you look at it, those priests didn’t seem to be doing the noble work of grooming themselves.
‘That’s strange. Wasn’t it the priests of the church who didn’t mind going through the asceticism?’
With that body, I don’t think I can climb the stairs properly, let alone the ascetic path.
I would understand if it was because I gained weight or put on a lot of weight.
But the bodies of the priests were just too fragile. Enough to fly away when the wind blows.
“This way, Brother Kyle! Here you go!”
Leaving a worried heart behind, he walks after her saintess.
He is Kyle, who was nervous at first, thinking he was saying hello to the Pope.
But he’s not the pope kind of a neighborhood grandpa, and he wasn’t something you could just meet anytime.
Come to think of it, the pope is higher than the saint, so it was more strange to meet him at once.
The place Kyle is headed now is the place where the cardinal resides.
It is a great thing for a son of an aristocratic family to meet a bishop-level cardinal of the order.
Maybe many nobles would have been envious of Kyle if they had heard this news.
“May God be with you. It is very nice to meet you, Brother Kyle.”
“It is an honor to meet you, Cardinal Paul.”
However, even after meeting the bishop-level cardinal, Kyle reacted plainly.
Even quite a few aristocrats are constantly groveling and trying to please.
Since this was the reaction of a young aristocrat, both the cardinal and the saintess were very surprised.
How could Kyle have shown such a plain reaction?
Did he try to show the aloofness of John Nassen to the saint, the cardinal, and the church?
There is a possibility, but the biggest reason is that I don’t know the inside of the church very well.
It was because he did not know that Cardinal Paul, whom he is meeting now, was a strong candidate for the next pope.
‘As expected, John Nassen’s direct lineage is different. I can’t believe I can be proud in front of anyone.’
Unknowingly, Cardinal Paul was in deep admiration.
Saint, Hildegard Dominican de Agasa Seraphim.
She was much taken aback when she said that she was bringing her guests all of a sudden.
She
And she was shocked to learn that the guest was none other than the son of author John Nassen Nam.
They were the ones who destroyed the academy, the direct jurisdiction of the imperial family, where even the religious order could not be reckless.
In addition, there is a record of refusing to enter the church, saying that I only believe in myself and my trained body rather than God.
So, from the standpoint of the church, John Nassen was considered extremely arrogant and violent.
But looking at it like this now, I think they may have been misunderstood.
“On the way, the saintess told me good words and shining prayers. That alone is already enough, and to come to such a glorious place is truly impressive.”
“Heh heh heh. When you say that, I don’t know what to do.”
Looking at Cardinal Paul with a kind smile.
Kyle praised himself very much for watching period dramas and historical works.
If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have thought of those words from just now.
“Your Majesty the Cardinal.”
The atmosphere wouldn’t be bad, Kyle decided to carry out his purpose of coming here.
“Tell me, Brother Kyle.”
“I heard a lot of good things from the saintess. It was a message that was truly impressive and resonated with the heart. So, I would like to hear the words of other priests at the church headquarters here.”
At Kyle’s words, Cardinal Paul exclaimed, “Huh?”
Never before has anyone in John Nassen shown such interest in the Order.
However, I am very happy that a direct descendant of the family came and told me this.
“I see. Kyle’s brother. It is very welcome.”
Actually, it is not to listen to good words, but to more accurately grasp the body condition of the priests.
It was shocking even when I glanced at it earlier. Even if I don’t exercise, it shows that I haven’t done too much.
It was Kyle’s intention to grasp a more accurate picture of the situation and secretly make a suggestion to the saintess.
“Ah, and Brother Kyle.”
“Yes, Your Excellency Cardinal. Please tell me.”
“If you have time, could you please take a minute with one of our denominations?”
“One person. Exactly who are you talking about….”
The moment Kyle asks a question, a polite knock is heard.
And a woman’s voice, which is calm and yet clearly powerful, follows.
“Your Excellency Cardinal. I am the commander of the Holy Elfleda Knights.”
