Awesome Shut-In Necromancer

Chapter 74

Anyway, this situation is quite dangerous.

There are two members of Hades gathered together, and the male with the sun tattoo, who is one of the founders, is surely much stronger than Jackson or Trione.

So, I reached out to Trione, who is closely associated with Hades, and Helena.

“To be honest, I really don’t want to go.”

“This, this is exactly why I brought you along; you have to pull your weight.”

Unlike Trione, who responded immediately, for some reason, Helena was unreachable all day.

Unable to delay any longer, I had no choice but to set off to Italy with just Trione in tow.

“Ugh, this is going to get messy right from the start.”

Under normal circumstances, Helena would have prepared a private jet or something, but since that wasn’t possible, I was relying on the power of the ring and boarded an economy class seat.

“Wouldn’t it be better to just wait until we can contact her? The chances of a man who asked for help surviving are slim anyway.”

“…Well, since the pass hasn’t been cut off, he’s probably still alive.”

Even though the plane had already taken off, Trione kept sighing for some reason, looking increasingly anxious.

“Could you just sit still? Why are you making such a fuss?”

When I couldn’t take it anymore and scolded him, Trione hesitated for a moment before finally opening up.

“…Are we really sure we can win? I’ve only seen one of the founders in person, but he was unbelievably frightening and strong.”

“…….”

“You’re strong too, but objectively, I don’t think our chances of winning are high.”

To be honest, I was also feeling a bit hesitant. After seeing Seo Ha’s abilities during the Dungeon Break in Gangwon-do, it only made me more apprehensive.

‘He was much stronger than I expected.’

It felt almost shameful to compare him to Jackson; I had heard that there was a significant gap even among A Ranks, but I never imagined it would be this pronounced.

If an upper-tier A Rank hunter has that kind of power, it’s highly likely that the man with the sun tattoo we’re about to face is equally strong.

That’s why I intended to call Helena, who was a certain powerhouse.

But.

“I absolutely must win.”

Backing down against such an opponent is unacceptable for me.

It’s not just pride; it’s a matter of principle.

“I need to eliminate any distractions without fail.”

And Hades has already disturbed my peace multiple times.

“Then it makes sense for them to disappear.”

That was the law and rule I established while living in that world.

“Are there more than ten patients showing the same symptoms?”

In Bolzano, a small city in northern Italy, Hunter Matteo, a member of the guild there, was currently patrolling with his colleagues to investigate a phenomenon spreading to nearby villages from Bolzano.

“Don’t even get me started. The symptoms aren’t severe, but there are clearly patients, and the doctors say there’s nothing wrong, so we’re at our wits’ end.”

“…Understood. If this report goes up, there should be definite guidelines from above, so we appreciate your patience.”

The subjects were numerous, regardless of age or gender; those targeted by this phenomenon all complained of lethargy, with their weight slowly decreasing, presenting a weak appearance.

Several doctors diagnosed these patients, but since the symptoms weren’t severe and no medical abnormalities were found, the conclusion was ultimately deemed a simple psychological issue.

However, when such consistent testimonies emerge from distant villages, the situation changes.

Therefore, it was suspected that the Gate and monsters might be related to this phenomenon, resulting in a request from a national agency.

‘It certainly does seem strange.’

Matteo also felt that something was gradually sapping his own magical power as he conducted the investigation.

If the symptoms the victims were experiencing could be connected to some sort of magical exhaustion, it suggested that something unseen was at the center of the event.

“Roden, how is it on your side?”

“Not much different. The majority of the village residents’ opinions coincide. It seems there really is something going on.”

After wandering through several villages to wrap up their investigation, Matteo and his colleagues prepared to head back to the guild to compile their findings.

An anomaly in the situation occurred just then.

Boom.

Crackle.

Vwooooosh.

A massive wave of magical energy emanated from the surrounding region, and the flow of the atmosphere suddenly began to shift.

“Matteo! What the hell is happening?”

“I don’t know! Just send a support request to the guild!”

One of his companions seemed to quickly make the call, but soon a panicked shout emerged from that same companion.

“Damn it, I can’t get through!”

“What’s going on here?”

The unease among the group was evident, yet Matteo made an effort to maintain his composure and calmed his teammates.

“Stay calm. If it’s an incident of this scale, help will arrive soon once they assess the situation.”

“Y-yeah. You’re right.”

Vwoooosh.

‘I’m gradually losing strength.’

While I don’t know what this phenomenon is, one thing is for sure: it’s related to the issues we’ve dealt with up until now.

‘We have some leeway, but other citizens are in danger.’

In the midst of the chaos, the hunters gathered around Matteo to discuss their course of action.

“What should we do now?”

“Well, for now… let’s go find the source of this incident.”

At Matteo’s words, the hunters nodded, each with resolute expressions.

Whoosh!

Weeeing!

Tap tap!

Sirens blared through the streets, and the citizens found themselves hurriedly fleeing to safety.

“…It seems something is already happening.”

“It looks that way.”

Arriving in Bolzano, a city near the one indicated by the information passed along by JP, chaos was already erupting in the streets.

This indicated that members of Hades had finally begun their actions.

“The government and guild seem to be moving already; do we really need to get involved?”

“If you keep whining, I’ll just turn you into Undead and carry you around.”

“That only means it’s inefficient.”

While that wasn’t incorrect, the opposing side would surely expect this level of response.

In other words, whether the nation and guild step in or not, it’s akin to acknowledging that they are prepared to accomplish their objectives and escape.

“The distraction of attention is actually beneficial. Let’s go.”

“…Damn it, I don’t even know anymore. Don’t expect much from me as I’m not that proficient in direct combat.”

Thus, Trione and I roamed around looking for the place where JP was presumed to be held.

However, upon arriving at that basement, JP was already gone.

“He’s dead.”

“The pass hasn’t been cut off, okay? Are you trying to drop the mood again?”

Then, it was safe to say JP was likely with the members of Hades.

In other words, it was time to find those guys.

Tap. Tap.

Just as we were about to leave the basement and start searching again, several people unexpectedly rushed in and surrounded us.

“Don’t move! We received a report of suspicious two-person duo. What are you doing here?”

“What?”

From the aura I sensed, they were all hunters.

It seemed that since we were both outsiders, we had encountered unexpected suspicion from the local residents.

“Put your hands above your head and face the wall! We will restrain both of you!”

“No, we didn’t do anything.”

“This is an emergency situation! If you don’t comply, we will use force!”

Whatever I said, I didn’t think it would be accepted, so I subtly turned my head and signaled Trione.

“Ha.”

Vwoooosh!

As Trione understood the meaning and activated his ability, the hunters all froze in place with dazed expressions.

It seemed there wasn’t a high-ranking hunter present, so there was no way the A Rank Trione could be resisted.

“What should we do with them? Can we take them and use them as meat shields?”

“Just leave them here. We wasted enough time already.”

However, at that moment, a message came through the radio from one of the hunters.

[This is G3! We’ve spotted a suspicious two-person duo in the Brenner forest. Additionally, it appears a man of unknown identity is being restrained.]

Hearing that, Trione and I naturally turned to look at each other.

“It seems this is definitely serious.”

“It’s not far from here. Let’s go.”

Thus, we were finally able to meet JP and one of Hades’ founders.

“…Who the hell are you?”

With numerous corpses of hunters lying around, either dismembered or twisted, grotesquely sprawled on the floor.
