Book 1: Chapter 27
It had been a week since he was admitted to the hospital for tests.
As explained by Nurse Imasaka, it was all medical tests at first.
From blood tests to MRIs to everything else, he felt like every cell of his body was being observed. But he didn't have a full day of tests.
The Ochanomizu Dungeon General Hospital is fairly large and has regular walk-in patients and consultations. So, he had to take a break from that to do the examination.
Nurse Imasaka said, "You are still getting preferential treatment for this," but Tenji didn't feel that way because he had more free time.
Tenji now came to Nanasei's examination room.
"Yeah, you seem to be in perfect physical condition. You're in good health for your age. I'll report that to the association....... Moreover, Tenji-Kun, you have nice muscles. Do you work out?" Nanasei asked.
Tenji took off his T-shirt and Jacket for the examination.
Seeing such well-developed abs of a high school student, Nanasei tried to touch them with her fingers.
But Tenji had also learned something this past week. She would try to touch Tenji at every turn, and he would hurry to get dressed and move away from her.
"Yeah, yeah....... as much as a normal explorer would."
"...... ohh. Well, tomorrow the inspectors from the association are coming to take your measurements. Tenji, you take regular measurements at your high school, right? It's a professional measurement, so don't get too worked up about it."
"Yes, ma'am. Thank you."
"Yeah, you can go back to your room now. I forgot about......."
Tenji got up from his chair to leave the examination room, but Nanasei hurriedly stopped him.
"What is it?"
"Tenji-Kun...... you said you haven't contacted Leon yet?"
"Huh? Oh, yes. I don't know how to thank him......."
Tenji said, looking like he was being punished badly.
There was a reason he hadn't called him yet, even though Leon gave him his contact information.
[First of all, I decided I shouldn't contact him so casually because I believed in what Leon said about not wanting interference. The other reason is that I've been thinking about how I should pay back this hospitalization fee.]
[I was probably assigned a private room in this hospital, so I was treading on the fact that the cost of hospitalization would be ridiculous. So I really don't know what to do.]
He thought it would be a good idea to contact him to thank him for the hospitalization. Still, he decided to wait until after the hospitalization period was over.
"Well, Leon didn't tell me. Do you know Leon's guild name?"
"No, I don't know."
"That's right. Leon is making a guild called [Leisure People], and Mr. Kaido, who organises everything there wants to talk to you."
'Mr Kaido,....., isn't it? I'll call him later."
"Yeah, yeah, do that. And, yeah, you don't have to call Leon, okay? He gets in a bad mood just by being called. Well, I think you can contact Kaido without worrying too much, right? Tenji seems worried about money, but Leon has a lot of money. Let's pick it back as much as we can!"
Nanasei gave a twinkling, starry-eyed wink and smiled at Tenji.
Tenji took it as advice from an adult, and left the examination room, saying, "Thank you very much."
He went straight to get a glass of water from the free water server next to the vending machine and returned to his hospital room.
Before sitting on the bed, he took out a business card from the pocket of his bag, which he kept tucked away on the shelf.
[Let's contact him once, just like Dr. Nanasei said.]
He typed in the phone number on that business card on his phone.
Tenji held his phone close to his ear as he looked outside.
"Yes, I'm Kaido."
"Ah,......, it's nice to meet you, my name is Tenji Amagi"
"Oh, my God! Are you Tenji-kun? Thank goodness~, I was worried that Leon might have said something selfish again and made you hate me! How are you? Is everything alright with your body?"
The man had a cheerful and lively adult voice, unlike the Zero-grade explorer Leon.
Hearing that reassuring voice, Tenji felt at ease somewhere inside.
"I'm not sure how I can thank you enough for your help. It seems that the hospitalization and examination expenses were covered, and I don't know how to thank you......"
'Thank you? Haha, I don't need that! We have Leon, so we have more than enough money. Think of it as an investment in a promising future explorer, and don't worry about anything. Especially for Tenji-kun."
"Especially me, am I......?"
"Yeah, yeah, Leon told me. He told me to keep an eye on Tenji-kun. So, if you have any trouble, don't hesitate to contact me, okay? Oh, and I'm basically the only contact person for Leon."
"No, it's too kind of an honor for me."
"Haha, Tenji, you're so humble. Ah, yes, yes! I just remembered something I have to tell you."
"Yes, I heard that from Nanasei-sensei as well. What are the requirements for someone like me?"
"Ah, I see. So Nanasei told you to call me, right? Haha, it wasn't such a big deal. I'm sorry if I've made you nervous."
"Yes."
Tenji's heart lightened even more at those casual words.
He didn't seem as strict as he thought he would be, and he even felt friendly with Kaido, who was easy to talk to.
"Didn't Leon give you the blue stone?"
"Oh, I got it."
Tenji replied, taking out a pebble the size of a bright blue piece tucked away in his bag pocket with him.
'That blue stone, it's an item that Leon used in the old days too......."
"Is it an item?
"Oh, it's not that expensive, you know. Or rather, it's not on the market in the first place, it's an item with no way to put a price on it."
Tenji can't help but roll his eyes at Kaido's words.
Just because it's an item that's not on the market, meaning that the item was invaluable, difficult to put price on.
"Hey, I can't put a price on it......"
"Haha, it's probably valuable, but I've never seen anyone else with it in the first place, so it's not that big of a deal."
"It's an item to disguise your vocation." Mr. Kaido added.
