21. Are You Really Her Mother?
Nan Hua walked to the dining room and saw that Mrs. Nan and Nan Xian Mu were already there. Only Old Master Nan was not present yet and it was clear that these two were also waiting for him.
“Sister!” Nan Xian Mu greeted with a bright smile.
Nan Hua nodded at this younger brother and then looked at Mrs. Nan. She paused for two seconds before greeting, “Mrs. Nan.”
Mrs. Nan looked at this unsightly daughter of hers and furrowed her eyebrows. “The military academy will start the new semester in a few days. Have you prepared for your next examination? I don’t want to hear you fail in the exams again.”
“Yes, Mrs. Nan.” Nan Hua lowered her head, not allowing others to see her expression. Her long hair blocked the side of her face, not letting anyone able to see her face.
“Sister is working hard, Mother,” Nan Xian Mu tried to defend his sister.
“Working hard?” Mrs. Nan sneered. “if she truly worked hard, she would not have failed the examination repeatedly. How long have you been in the Nan Family and yet the progress is very small?”
Nan Hua knew very well that the fake Nan Hua was actually doing quite well. Her rate of improvement was much more than other people in terms of physical fitness. Unfortunately, it was not fast enough compared to other people.
Talent represented the bottom line while hard work represented the speed at which they could reach a certain limit.
Bang!
Before Nan Hua could answer, the door opened and Old Master Nan walked inside. His expression looked unsightly. “Hua’er had been outside for a long time and as a mother, all you want is for her to make result?”
Mrs. Nan’s expression distorted slightly but she tried her best to calm down. In front of Old Master Nan, she didn’t dare to be disrespectful. Even though she was very rich, it was nothing compared to the hegemon Nan Family.
The Nan Family had various branches and also people working in various field. Even if their main focus was in the military, they were still very strong.
“I just want her to be worthy to be part of the Nan Family,” Mrs. Nan gave her excuse.
“Worthy of the Nan Family?” Old Master Nan looked at Mrs. Nan and sneered. When his wife matched this woman to his son, he felt that she was such an ambitious and face saving person. But the business in her family was indeed very good and their son didn’t mind, so the marriage continued.
But as a mother, she had already caused a lot of dissatisfaction in the face of Old Master Nan and the others.
They didn’t interfere much because it was still within the line they could tolerate. She was a businesswoman and wanted to make sure that everything around her was to her benefit.
But couldn’t she think that Nan Hua had only returned to the Nan Family for a short period of time?
It was normal for her to be unable to catch up to them.
“Now that she’s part of the Nan Family, it’s only normal for her to learn everything that she should have learn from a long time ago.” Mrs. Nan expression was solemn.
The child of the rich would always learn many things ever since they were young. This would allow them to develop their talent in various fields.
“She’s still young and had time to grow. You don’t have to worry so much about her progress.” Old Master Nan shook his head.
Mrs. Nan frowned. How could that work?
When she was talking with the other businessmen and businesswomen, they would always like to jab her by mentioning this unsightly daughter. She was part of the Nan Family, entered military academy, yet her result was nearly at the bottom for the practical test.
How could she show her face when it was so bad like that?
She could imagine that her friends were all laughing at her behind their back.
“I’m her mother, so I have to care for her progress. If she’s too slow, what would people talk about the Nan Family.” Mrs. Nan frowned.
Nan Hua didn’t look at Mrs. Nan and kept her head lowered. However, a glint flashed in her eyes as she understood this Mrs. Nan more. She was a person who only cared about benefit, no matter whether it was in terms of material or reputation.
What an interesting woman.
And a very unqualified mother.
Old Master Nan’s face also darkened. He looked at his daughter in law and spat out each word one by one, “Are you truly her mother?”
