Chapter 27: Dragoon
She could feel the intense desire coming from Venn's eyes.
"This guy… he lusts after me so badly. I can feel that he wants to eat me up and swallow me whole."
Lilith silently thought to herself. However, she had completely misunderstood Venn's intentions.
After a brief moment of awkwardness of staring at each other, Venn finally broke the ice and proceeded to ask Lilith about information regarding the trial and the guild. He had asked her in a sincere way that Lilith just shook her head and continued her briefing.

"Never mind. It's your loss anyway."
The succubus begrudge said in which Venn nodded his head and agreed wholeheartedly. Seeing his response, Lilith thankfully resumed the briefing again. Her anger had subsided a bit after Venn gave her some time to calm down.
"Back to the briefing. As a member of the Blood Serpents, there are only two rules. Number one, no infighting amongst members. Number two, accomplish the mission given at all costs, even if you lose your life while doing so." Lilith stated clearly with two of her fingers held up.
"What happens if I fail the mission?" Venn carefully asked.
"Then the rest of the members will hunt you down till the end of the world." Lilith answered coldly without an ounce of compassion in her voice.
"I see. So death to all traitors then." Venn commented. His words were mainly a reminder for himself. He shudders to find out what the guild would do to him if they find out that he was a fraud.
"As for the trial, what was it exactly?" Venn continued to fire questions. He needed all the information he could get to think of a way to maximise his benefits.
However, Lilith was appearing lacklustre and half-hearted towards explaining things to him.
"Shit! I don't remember the NPCs in this game are so bothersome." Although Venn mentally retorted, his actions reflected otherwise.
With a cheerful smile to curry the succubus' favour, he started praising and coaxing the unenthusiastic NPC to smooth her ego.
"Would you be so kind to point the way to me, Big Sister Lilith? I will be greatly indebted to you."
Venn said in a humble tone. He swore he would get back at her if there's a chance to do so in the future.
Watching Venn humbly request her for help greatly amused Lilith. She did not know why but she felt great pleasure seeing Venn running into trouble.
"The trial is an illusion set up by the founder of the guild. The goal behind it was to weed out the weak-minded and the cowards from the elites. The trial had already started the minute you consumed the wine infused with the Dragon emperor's blood. Everything that you saw after that was all a part of the illusion." Lilith explained, and before Venn fired another question, she continued while shaking her head.
"The other three candidates had gone insane because of the trial. Their minds were too weak, so there's no point in feeling sorry for their loss."
"At the end of your trial, you should have heard the founder speaking to you. Normally, that means that he has acknowledged you to be part of the guild and has left his inheritance to you. Check yourself for some changes in your body. You should be able to feel his power inside."
Upon hearing Lilith's words, Venn instantly started patting himself and checked his body for some changes until he realised he could simply check his status.
Muttering "status" under his breath, he could see the massive changes that had occurred to him.
Character: Night Raid (Lesser Dragoon)

What appeared on his status screen shocked Venn.
First of all, his race had changed from a human to a dragoon! He guessed that the change must have occurred when he consumed Argos Von Kaiser's blood!
Existed in the Era of Gods, In Heaven Descent, dragoon was a race that comes from the hybrid of a human and a dragon. Being the worshippers that served their gods, they unfortunately went extinct after the Era of calamity began.
Thus, Venn was surprised that he could obtain the power of a dragoon in this game.
"Looks like the things that the entire player base had seen after nine years were just the tip of the iceberg. There's more to this game than meets the eye."
Hovering his status, the race trait and attributes of a dragoon appeared in his game log.
[Ding]
[Synchronization success!]
[You have inherited the will of the Dragon Emperor!]
[You have become a lesser dragoon.]
[A dragoon is a hybrid between a dragon and a human. Capable of wielding both powers of its counterparts.]
[Race traits:]
[Increased Vitality (Passive): The strong life force of a dragon ensures longevity of their race. That power had been passed down to their childrens as well. Health increased by 300 points. (+300 Health). For every subsequent level up, the player will receive an increase of fifty health points per level instead of the usual thirty.]
[Dragon's Constitution (Passive): Drawing from the power of the dragon hidden in their blood streams, a dragoon constitution surpasses all other life forms other than their masters. 10% increase in both strength and agility stats.]
[Dragon scale (Passive): The scale of a dragon is impregnable. Though a dragoon's skin has a weaker effect, its natural skin can still negate most blows to its user. Defence rating of the player is doubled for all armours equipped.]
[Monster slot occupied. You can now wield powers that belonged to the Dragon class.]
[Dragon skills can only be used by players with dragons' blood and heritage in them.]
As Venn read on with the description of the benefits of becoming a dragoon, Venn's heart started pacing faster and faster.
Every effect of the race was very useful and awesome to him. He was extremely thankful that he chose the right choice to join Blood Serpents.
And when his eyes laid upon the words about only a player with dragon's blood infused could unleash dragon related skills, he literally had gone insane.
Unable to restrain his happiness anymore, his laughter spread out to every corner in the room.
"Haha! Hahahaha! No wonder! That explains it all!"
