As Homelander In Multiverse

Chapter 86: Chapter 86: The Tyrant

Empire State Building.

In a dimly lit corridor, Starlight dangled mid-air, her neck clutched tightly by a pair of iron-like hands. Her face was turning pale, her breath coming in short gasps as her vision blurred.

Inside the Titan armor, Colonel Yuri felt utterly helpless. His hands fidgeted, his voice trembling. Despite his best efforts, the armor had gone completely rogue, its systems refusing to obey his commands.

Just then, a voice crackled through his comms:

"Colonel Yuri, this is Engineering. The system malfunction has been fixed. Your armor should be operational again."

Operational again?

Without a second thought, Yuri released his grip. Starlight dropped to the ground, collapsing in a heap, coughing violently as she clutched her bruised neck.

Yuri opened the armor's faceplate and knelt down beside her. "Miss Starlight, are you alright?"

Finally catching her breath, Starlight shook her head weakly but managed a reassuring smile. "I'll live," she rasped, her voice still hoarse. She staggered to her feet, using the wall for support, her gaze locking onto Yuri.

"Your armor...?"

Yuri slammed a fist against his chest plate, causing the armor to split open and retract. Stepping out, his expression was a mix of relief and lingering fear.

"Engineering says it's fixed, but hell, I'm never stepping into that deathtrap again."

Starlight moved toward the window, her hand instinctively covering her mouth as her eyes took in the wreckage of Manhattan. Buildings lay in ruins, streets were scarred with massive craters, and plumes of smoke painted the skyline a mournful gray.

"My God..." she whispered.

Yuri joined her, his expression grim. "It's a tragedy."

His gaze shifted downward to the street below. There, amidst the rubble, stood Homelander, his black cape billowing gently in the wind. At his feet lay Jeff's lifeless form.

The colonel's face turned red with shame. "Looks like Homelander took care of it after all. And to think I had the nerve to question him before... What a disgrace."

Starlight's eyes shimmered with admiration as she stared at Homelander.

"I knew it," she murmured. "He wouldn't stand idly by. All this time... was he just drawing out the mastermind behind everything?"

Her heart swelled with pride, but the memory of Homelander's earlier actions at the gala tempered her elation, casting a shadow of doubt.

On the street below, Homelander glanced up, spotting Starlight and Yuri by the window. He waved at them with a charming smile before turning and flying toward Maeve.

---

Homelander's retinas lit up with a string of notifications:

[Event Complete.]

[You have achieved a Perfect Resolution.]

[Event Disaster Rating: D+]

['Perfect' Reward Settlement: 1. Proficiency Essence x29; 2. Intelligent Battle Armor 'Tyrant'; 3. Multiverse Chest (Random) x3.]

[New items have been added to your store catalog.]

A satisfied smile spread across his face.

"Not bad," he muttered.

---

Nearby, Queen Maeve remained stunned. She couldn't comprehend how the armor that had thoroughly outmatched her had been defeated so easily.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a shadow falling over her. A strong hand gently lifted her chin, forcing her to look up into Homelander's confident face.

"Looking a little rough there, my queen," he teased, his tone dripping with mockery.

Maeve, uncharacteristically vulnerable in her battered state, gave him a sultry look. "I'm a little out of commission... Mind carrying me?"

Homelander chuckled, leaning in close. "You're not worried?"

Maeve smirked, her voice playful. "What's there to worry about?"

Homelander's voice lowered, his breath brushing against her ear. "That I might take advantage of you in this state."

The closeness, combined with his intoxicating aura of power, sent a shiver down Maeve's spine. She leaned into him, her voice soft and tinged with mischief. "I dare you."

Satisfied with the rewards he had secured from the event, and with promises of riches and influence from both the Department of Defense and Vought International, Homelander grinned. There were always women and wine to celebrate a victory—though for now, wine would have to wait.

Maeve's breath hitched as Homelander swept her off her feet. She barely had time to react before they ascended into the sky, disappearing into the night.

---

Pentagon Headquarters.

In a darkened conference room, a massive screen displayed Homelander's departure with Maeve in his arms. The image flickered and went black, plunging the room into silence.

Defense Secretary Wilson surveyed the grim faces around him.

"We're not just ill-equipped to handle Homelander," he said gravely. "We couldn't even counter someone like Z with a single combat AI suit."

"Does anyone here have anything useful to add?"

The room remained silent.

Wilson turned to a man sitting in the corner. "Dr. Kyle, any updates on the mutated samples from Silver Tree Town?"

The man raised his head, his cybernetic eye glinting ominously. A faint red light flickered in its center as he spoke.

---

As rescue efforts commenced across Manhattan, the island's wounds became more apparent. Ambulances wailed without pause, ferrying the injured to overflowing hospitals. Media outlets scrambled to cover the devastation, their cameras capturing harrowing scenes of destruction.

Meanwhile, AAB News returned to the Empire State Building, interviewing survivors, including Colonel Yuri.

During the interview, a soldier rushed over, shouting, "Colonel! Levin's in critical condition!"

"They said his spine's been severely damaged. He needs immediate surgery. Even then, he might never walk again..."

Yuri's face darkened, and he immediately followed the soldier inside. The news crew trailed behind, documenting the grim aftermath of the night's chaos.

---

The following morning, Homelander enjoyed breakfast as he reviewed his latest gains.

[Tyrant: Intelligent Battle Armor, featuring AI 'Nyx.' Capabilities include learning, adaptive combat strategies, and comprehensive tactical analysis.]

[Equipment: Specialized Memory Alloy Exoskeleton, Composite Energy Reactor, Anti-Gravity Hover System, Soft Armor Cloak, Shockwave Energy Cannon, Molecular Cutting Blade, Miniature Homing Missiles, Particle Beam Chest Cannon.]

Homelander's lips curled into a satisfied grin.

"This is a solid piece of work—miles ahead of that hunk of junk Jeff was using."

Though impressive, it remained nothing more than a toy in his eyes.

"Still... it could make a decent prop for cosplaying Kamen Rider."

His gaze shifted to the Proficiency Essence in his inventory.

"Thirty in total," he mused. "That's 400 points of proficiency to spend. Time to power up."

He immediately allocated 10 essences to unlock the Absolute Accuracy Talent Capsule he had been eyeing. Swallowing the capsule, he felt a slight jolt as his genetic structure recalibrated.

With Absolute Accuracy, every ranged attack he launched would now hit its mark—no exceptions.

Homelander's smirk widened as he opened his status menu:

[Name: John (Homelander)]

[Life Level: 5 (Transcendent)]

[Status: Normal]

[Talents: Heat Vision (78/200), Flight+2 (62/100), Super-Speed+2 (46/100), Biokinetic Field (24/200), Super Strength+2 (89/100), Regeneration+1 (21/30), Insight+1 (26/30)]

"Let's boost Heat Vision and Biokinetic Field," he decided.

With Absolute Accuracy, his heat vision would become a weapon of terrifying precision, while his biokinetic field ensured he could stand unshaken amidst any storm.
