Arthur Smith's Hollywood Odyssey

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The Godfather Part III

"Arthur, let's go!" Winona Ryder, dressed seductively, pulled Arthur up from the sofa and adjusted his suit.

"This handmade suit from Savile Row in London fits really well," Winona Ryder said as she adjusted it, admiringly.

Arthur's mouth twitched. "This suit costs $4,000. If it were before, I definitely couldn't afford something this expensive."

"Are you ready?" Arthur asked, glancing at Winona Ryder.

"Yes, I'm ready," Winona Ryder said, hooking her arm through Arthur's and nudging him with her head. "If you hadn't messed up my hair earlier, I wouldn't have had to take a shower."

"Yes, there's definite improvement," Arthur said, touching Winona Ryder's face. "Much better compared to last time."

"Bring a jacket. It's quite chilly outside at night," Arthur reminded.

"I know," Winona Ryder said. She had dressed up beautifully to enjoy some alone time with Arthur; nothing else mattered.

"Let's go. Let's see if you still have energy tonight," Winona Ryder said, throwing on a jacket and leaving the house with Arthur.

Soon, they drove to the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, with Arthur holding Winona Ryder's hand as they walked inside.

"Richard Gere," Winona Ryder suddenly said as they entered the hotel lobby. Arthur followed her gaze and saw Julia Roberts.

Arthur explained, "The woman next to him is Julia Roberts. She had a supporting role in a movie called Mystic Pizza. Looks like Pretty Woman is going to use this Wilshire Hotel for filming."

Winona Ryder thought for a moment. "So, Richard Gere is the lead, and he's only a B-list actor. Arthur, why do you think Pretty Woman will succeed?"

Arthur smiled. "The script," he said, wrapping his arm around Winona Ryder as they entered the elevator. "These romantic comedies centered around women, I like to call them 'chick flicks'."

"Winona, you shouldn't always take roles in arthouse films. You should also work with the major studios and take on some commercial films. It will help both your commercial value and your influence."

Winona Ryder smiled. "But right now, I'm just a C-list actress, taking on low-budget projects."

"Don't worry," Arthur said, patting Winona Ryder's back. "With me here, I'll write scripts just for you."

"I believe you..."

Once they reached the suite, they quickly arranged a lavish dinner.

However, after seeing Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in the hotel lobby, Arthur suddenly had a crazy idea. Could he sabotage Disney's Pretty Woman? Even if he couldn't destroy it, could he delay its production enough so that it wouldn't be released at the same time as Sleepless in Seattle?

But Arthur was going to be busy with Sleepless in Seattle, making it difficult to sabotage Pretty Woman.

"Arthur, cheers," Winona Ryder raised her wine glass. "When are you going to Seattle?"

"Waiting for the call, probably next week," Arthur said, taking a sip of wine. "When does your Mermaids start filming?"

"Mid-October. I'm also waiting to hear about the audition for Coppola's The Godfather Part III. If I get the role, I'll have to go to Italy for filming," Winona Ryder said with a hint of worry.

Arthur laughed. "That's not a bad thing. You have to understand the influence of The Godfather series. Director Francis Ford Coppola only agreed to make The Godfather Part III because his previous film, Apocalypse Now, went over budget and flopped at the box office."

"So, you mean The Godfather Part III is mainly for commercial purposes," Winona Ryder understood.

"More or less," Arthur nodded. "It's been 15 years since The Godfather Part II was released. Paramount has had scripts for The Godfather Part III for years but couldn't convince Coppola. Even though it's a cash grab, the influence of The Godfather series is too great. The Godfather Part III will make money no matter what. If you're chosen, even if it conflicts with other roles, you should prioritize The Godfather Part III."

Arthur wasn't sure if Francis Ford Coppola had chosen Winona Ryder in the past. There were rumors that Winona Ryder had been cast as the daughter in The Godfather Part III but withdrew, leading Coppola to cast his own daughter instead. Later, Coppola cast Winona Ryder in Bram Stoker's Dracula to make up for it.

After a lavish dinner, Arthur and Winona Ryder soaked in the hot tub, enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles night view.

"Mm..." Winona Ryder sat in Arthur's lap, gasping for breath as she held onto him tightly.

"Darling," Arthur said, kissing Winona Ryder's chest, "satisfied?"

Winona Ryder, feeling weak, clung to Arthur. "You're the best!"

She looked at the night view outside. "The Los Angeles night is always so beautiful."

"No, the entire LA night view can't compare to you right now," Arthur said, moving to the edge of the tub and pointing to his arousal. "Darling!"

Winona Ryder smiled, understanding Arthur's meaning. "Hmm, bad boy," she said, stroking him. Soon, she knelt in the tub...

Arthur, enjoying the moment, stroked Winona Ryder's hair while admiring the beautiful Los Angeles night scene.
