Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Affection for the Sister-in-law, Self-Rescue, and Night Talk
"Ah?!"
Lin Feng felt a bit awkward, being the one undressed, but seeing Yuruo's alluring smile and charming demeanor, he was also stirred by emotion.
He turned his head, mumbling a response.
With a look of contentment, Zhang Yuruo approached Lin Feng from behind, slowly squatting down, soaping up a towel to scrub his back.
Lin Feng swallowed, feeling a tickle across his skin.
This was his first intimate encounter with a woman at such close proximity.
The smooth and supple skin brought an undeniable pleasure.
What he once fantasized about was now reality.
As he enjoyed the moment, Yuruo's soft, sweet voice whispered in his ear, her breath warm against his skin:
"Xiaofeng, do you like your sister-in-law?"
Lin Feng shivered, unsure how to respond, nodding slightly under the towel.
Then came Zhang Yuruo's laughter from behind:
"Actually, I feel the same."
"Lin Youzhi, that bastard, hasn't touched me in years. I've been bringing you meals every night, and you haven't caught on?"
This development was beyond Lin Feng's expectations. He planned to take things slowly, fulfilling his brother's dying wish, but instead, found himself drawn in by his widowed sister-in-law...
Now, faced with Yuruo's open heart...
Lin Feng was both surprised and delighted.
Yet, before he could respond, Yuruo wrapped her arms around him, her teasing tone full of allure:
"So, how do you plan to like your sister-in-law?"
Turning his head, Lin Feng found their lips meeting, embracing and kissing under her lead.
...
...
An hour later, Lin Feng exited the bathroom, feeling refreshed in his shorts, followed by Zhang Yuruo, wrapped in a white towel, blushing as she hurried to her bedroom.
Lin Feng picked up half a bucket of water from the dining table, gulping it down to quench his thirst, then glanced at Chen Yanyan standing from the sofa.
With a knowing smile, she unzipped her jacket, slipping out of her tight clothes and workout pants.
Finally, it was her turn to wash up.
In just her undergarments, Chen Yanyan's elegant, tall figure was on full display.
A face can be altered, but body proportions are innate, and Chen Yanyan possessed an exceptional top-to-bottom ratio, her long, rounded legs extending even beyond her upper body when barefoot...
As she approached on tiptoe, Lin Feng imagined a top model on the runway.
Yet her upper body was too slender, lacking the ample assets of his sister-in-law.
But with her perfect legs and youthful, beautiful face, Chen Yanyan undoubtedly was a top-tier beauty.
Noticing Lin Feng's unwavering gaze, Chen Yanyan smiled confidently.
She approached him, clicking her tongue:
"Who would've thought, your sister-in-law just became a widow, and Lin is still warm in the ground downstairs... You have no right to judge me now..."
Lin Feng cleared his throat, feigning seriousness:
"I promised my brother I'd take good care of her, ensuring her well-being, both physically and mentally, as I can't break my promise."
Chen Yanyan burst into laughter, unable to contain it, leaning into Lin Feng's chest, speaking softly:
"So, Xiaofeng, will you also take care of your second sister-in-law?"
Lin Feng rolled his eyes, stepping aside:
"Alright, go take your bath. You're all sweaty. The remaining water is just enough for you to clean up..."
"I won't intrude."
With that, he strode towards the bedroom.
His sister-in-law awaited, ready to pour out her heart.
Chen Yanyan huffed, stomping in frustration, moving to the bathroom. Looking at herself in the mirror, comparing her youthful face and perfect figure to Zhang Yuruo, she wondered where she fell short.
Aside from her flat chest, which was due to poor childhood nutrition.
Chen Yanyan compared herself, confident that with effort, she could win over Lin Feng.
After all, he couldn't only have his sister-in-law by his side.
Once Chen Yanyan finished her bath and exited, the sky outside had turned completely dark.
Wearing her uniform's white shirt, she lay on the sofa, legs bare, listening to music with headphones as she began her long night watch.
From the next room came her sister-in-law's soft sobbing. Having lost her husband, she was surely heartbroken, and Chen Yanyan, empathizing, sighed repeatedly.
Time passed, second by second...
Approaching midnight, silence enveloped everything.
Chen Yanyan, hearing snores inside, removed her headphones, searching for her power bank.
In the stairwell outside, at the sixth-floor corner, the six other survivors of Building 6 endured the long night.
Hungry and thirsty, cold winds blew through the corridor.
The outspoken woman from before grumbled:
"This isn't sustainable. We need to escape and find rescue. Waiting here, we'll starve to death."
An experienced elderly man shivered, a hint of despair in his eyes:
"If the news on our phones is true, there won't be any rescue. If the bugs can invade from the sea, the navies are likely decimated, and the Federation's army has been downsized for years..."
"Even if a million troops were mobilized, spread across thousands of miles of coastline, Haicheng might see three to four thousand..."
"We... have to save ourselves."
The woman nodded, agreeing:
"Weiguo was in the army; he's right. We need to find a way to save ourselves, not just rely on rescue."
Nearby, a young woman adjusted her glasses:
"The group on the third floor relies on more than just guns."
"This afternoon, I overheard their conversation outside 201..."
"It seems killing those giant bugs makes them stronger. The more they kill, the stronger they become. You've seen their red shields, taken from the bugs. With those, we wouldn't fear bug attacks."
"From their tone and attitude, even if they escape, they won't take us..."
"Today, they killed bugs like crazy in 201. If we want to save ourselves, we must do the same, kill bugs, get stronger, then... escape!"
The woman's eyes lit up:
"Girl, you have sharp eyes and ears. How many bugs did they kill today?"
The young woman estimated:
"The bugs drawn by gunfire downstairs were all killed by them, at least five..."
The middle-aged woman chuckled softly:
"There are only three of them; they can't carry more than three shields, right? They couldn't manage more..."
"So, downstairs in 201, there might be two bug shells left."
"We're six people, maybe not as young, but we can lend a hand, can't we? I've already taken knives and scissors from the kitchen..."
"Let's go downstairs while they're asleep, see if we can grab something. Maybe, with luck, we can even kill one!"
"If we wait until morning, when they wake, we won't even get a taste..."
The other five exchanged glances, finally nodding in agreement.
...
Near midnight, as Chen Yanyan grew drowsy, searching for her power bank to charge her phone, she removed her headphones, suddenly hearing faint screams from downstairs.
Perhaps due to the distance and several walls, the sound wasn't loud but incredibly shrill.
Chen Yanyan immediately thought of the survivors upstairs, assuming they ventured downstairs and encountered giant bugs.
After a moment's hesitation, Chen Yanyan dressed and grabbed her Red Armored Shield and long knife, ready to investigate, hoping for the chance to kill more bugs.
But as she mustered courage, standing at the entryway to open the door, a low voice interrupted:
"What are you doing?"
Chen Yanyan slowly turned, seeing a slim figure outside the master bedroom—it was her sister-in-law, Zhang Yuruo, who spoke:
"Going to save people who mean nothing to you?"
Chen Yanyan swallowed, sweating, returning to apologize:
"Sorry, I shouldn't have acted on my own."
"I was just thinking of using the chaos to kill more bugs."
Zhang Yuruo didn't respond, turning to the balcony.
In the moonlight, she wore a sheer nightgown, her graceful figure barely concealed.
Her face was flushed, her expression calm.
Chen Yanyan set down her shield and knife, feeling like a child caught misbehaving. She approached Zhang Yuruo, aware that her fate now lay in her sister-in-law's hands.
Zhang Yuruo retrieved a pack of cigarettes from a cabinet, lighting a slim cigarette for herself and offering one to Chen Yanyan.
"No, I don't smoke..." Chen Yanyan quickly replied, nervously twisting her clothing.
Zhang Yuruo retracted the pack, exhaling a thin stream of smoke, then looked down at the street below. Lin Youzhi's body next to the new Mercedes was unrecognizable, chewed by the beetles.
"How long were you with him..." Zhang Yuruo asked.
Chen Yanyan hesitated, but realizing the implication, she quickly waved her hands, shaking her head, explaining frantically:
"No, sister-in-law, I'm sorry, I was wrong..."
"It was my fault, I'm sorry..."
"But I swear, nothing ever happened between us! Mr. Lin only promoted me to accompany him to events..."
Zhang Yuruo flicked her cigarette ash, interrupting the flustered Chen Yanyan:
"I know..."
"I know he couldn't perform..."
She took a long drag, exhaling as she eyed Chen Yanyan with a knowing smile:
"Because... I did that."
Chen Yanyan's pupils constricted,
Her back tingled, hands and feet cold.
The distant screams couldn't compare to the soft crackle of Zhang Yuruo's burning cigarette...
The familiar feeling returned.
