Apocalypse: My Items Upgrade Infinitely

Chapter 126: Chapter 126: The Marvelous Uses of Tier 2 Eggs, Healing and Experimentation

Seeing the notification in front of him, Lin Feng couldn't help but smile. He immediately ordered a return to the Taihu service area.

On the way back, Lin Feng went to the lower deck of the battleship, to the modified storage space where he retrieved a Tier 2 egg.

The massive egg took up most of the living space in the lounge as he dragged it in.

Chen Yanyan, who was piloting the battleship, heard the thumping sounds from behind, set the return course, and used her ability to remotely control the vehicle. She walked into the lounge and saw the still-moving egg.

The pristine white Tier 2 egg, resembling a large piece of fatty meat, quivered with waves of flesh as it moved.

Seeing Lin Feng aiming his gun at the egg, she asked, "Is everything you said true?"

Lin Feng had already informed Chen Yanyan about the deal with the queen known as Ling Yi since she was a core team member and his most trusted partner. There was no need to hide it from her.

So, Chen Yanyan wasn't questioning the queen's fear leading to the egg handover; she was inquiring about the truth of using the eggs to upgrade, as Lin Feng had announced to the team.

After all, Lin Feng seemed eager to verify it himself.

Lin Feng switched his lv25 Armor-Piercing Railgun to lv9 Divine Pistol mode. Though the damage dropped from 500 to 40, it wouldn't harm the battleship.

Regarding whether it could kill the egg...

Through close contact during transport, Lin Feng's identification skill had already given him the detailed results:

"Tier 2 Tiger Bug Egg, lv20"

"Health 205, Physique 30, Spirit 0"

"Properties: Consuming increases satiety by 100%, quickly restores a Tier 2 awakener's physique, accelerates healing of body tissues except the brain. Each consumed adds 10 physique points."

"Evaluation: This is the developmental stage of a late-stage Tier 1 Black Spinal Bug evolving into a Tier 2 Tiger Bug. The egg contains Tier 2 upgrade energy but lacks fully developed organs and mandibles. Killing it grants second-stage upgrade points."

"Note: A rare upgrade and nourishment material, the organic broth inside the egg is safe to consume."

"Note: Killing with a bound weapon negates all egg properties."

Seeing the complete attribute description, Lin Feng couldn't suppress his smile, nodding at Chen Yanyan.

He relaxed his trigger finger.

Lacking orange-quality fusion materials, upgrading the Land Cruiser Battleship was less meaningful, as the basic stats increase was minimal compared to adding more Tier 2 Tiger Bug mandibles.

Unfortunately, the mandibles from Ling Yi's Tiger Bugs were used to upgrade the Flying Tiger Armor. At the time, Lin Feng hadn't anticipated such an easy opportunity to farm upgrade points.

Since Ling Yi couldn't provide mandibles, he had to find a way to get them from the Haicheng queen.

So, Lin Feng planned to use the first batch of fifty Tier 2 eggs to upgrade his lv25 Armor-Piercing Railgun to max level.

Calculating, he'd need at least thirty-four eggs to upgrade to a lv29 top-tier orange weapon.

The remaining sixteen eggs weren't immediately needed, so he'd distribute them to his companions for Tier 2 awakening.

After all, if Lin Feng ventured out alone, they'd need self-protection.

Among them, Chen Yanyan, his closest partner and girlfriend, needed it most.

Lin Feng put away the Armor-Piercing Railgun, retrieving an ordinary long knife from the kitchen wall.

Though ordinary, Lin Feng had upgraded it to lv9:

"Ordinary Long Knife lv9/9, White Quality"

"Durability 10/10, Damage 50, Good Condition"

"Evaluation: A fine melee weapon capable of inflicting great wounds, max level reached."

"Upgrading Condition: Kill one Tier 1 Insect 0/1"

"Note: Due to insufficient innate material, additional red-quality metal is needed for fusion upgrade; otherwise, a high chance of failure due to inability to withstand modification."

Lin Feng glanced briefly before handing the lv9 ordinary long knife to Chen Yanyan.

Before his second awakening at late Tier 1, he had experimented with upgrading many melee weapons.

Unfortunately, most lv9 cold weapons shattered during upgrades, failing to reach red quality.

This was partly why he sought Liu Yueqi's trail. Her Thousand Slash Saber might not have orange potential, but red quality beyond level ten was likely.

Regrettably, after the refugee group entered Jin City, she vanished like a fish into the sea.

Lin Feng hoped Hu Fei and Han Yuxin had connections to acquire top-quality, high-potential cold weapons.

And that Ding Chenghai could soon produce a blade comparable to Tier 2 Tiger Bug mandibles for upgrade into a supreme weapon.

Chen Yanyan accepted the knife, encouraged by Lin Feng's gaze, and approached the slightly repulsive egg.

The still-living Tier 2 egg resembled a larva in a wasp nest, with a pair of pincers for feeding.

Without limbs, it couldn't move, only clamping its mouthparts, issuing a rustling sound to command nearby nurse Red Beetles for food.

But instead of high-energy nourishment, it faced a glinting blade.

Without hesitation, Chen Yanyan lifted the lv9 ordinary long knife, chopping down on the egg's feeding end.

After four or five strikes, each dealing 50 damage, the egg's frantic struggle ended, completing the upgrade kill.

A surge of energy emerged from the egg, flowing into Chen Yanyan.

Since the kill occurred inside the battleship, both Lin Feng and Chen Yanyan sensed the energy clearly, confirming Ling Yi's claim.

Killing a Tier 2 egg indeed granted upgrades.

Though Lin Feng had already confirmed this through identification, for Chen Yanyan, who had been skeptical, it felt like a dream come true.

Such a difficult Tier 2 awakening, and the perilous close-quarters kills, now only required an ordinary kitchen knife or rifle to chop or shoot a few times!

Who would believe it outside?

Seeing Chen Yanyan stunned, Lin Feng patted her shoulder:

"Congratulations on meeting Tier 2 awakening conditions, but wait to evolve until we're back at camp."

Chen Yanyan snapped back, dropping the knife, and hugged Lin Feng, kissing him repeatedly.

Only after releasing her joy did she ask:

"Wait, what else did you say?"

Lin Feng wiped his face, gesturing to the egg leaking milky nutrient fluid, and explained its properties.

Hearing him, Chen Yanyan exclaimed "Oh my God," rushing to the kitchen for bowls to catch the fluid, fearing waste.

Even the spillage was wiped and squeezed into bottles.

Watching her kneel, Lin Feng couldn't help but chuckle at the perfect curves above her long legs.

Forget the bottles.

Plenty to go around.

Leave the rest to Li Ran and the team.

In seven or eight minutes, they extracted a hundred kilograms of organic nutrients from one egg.

The milky liquid was tasteless, like mineral water with milk's texture.

But once in the stomach, warmth spread, restoring exhausted bodies quickly.

Beyond satiety and recovery, its main benefits were healing and physique enhancement.

A hundred-kilogram egg, ten kilograms per point, was too slow to drink as water.

Fortunately, awakeners' metabolism increased their energy needs, allowing daily intake of substantial nutrients.

Otherwise, Lin Feng couldn't drink hundreds of kilograms daily...

Tasting a few sips, the Land Cruiser Battleship, under Chen Yanyan's watchful control, led the eight vehicles back to the Taihu service area.

Entering the temporary camp's parking lot, as soldiers disembarked, Lin Feng exited the battleship, dragging the dead egg shell behind him.

He presented the collected organic nutrient bottle to the team, explaining:

"This is extracted from a Tier 2 egg, organic nutrient fluid."

"For those from the north, it might remind you of cicada larvae, bursting with flavor."

"Yes, it's chicken-flavored, crispy, with five times beef's protein!"

"But this isn't ordinary larvae; it's an egg that can hatch Tier 2 Tiger Bugs!"

"The energy it contains enhances physique and abilities, unlimited!"

"It quickly replenishes energy, restores stamina, and improves physical state. Consuming it heals injuries and boosts physique permanently!"

Hearing this, the team erupted in excitement, eyes filled with longing, some even drooling...

But many showed concern.

Lin Feng narrowed his eyes, surveying the 160 present, continuing:

"I've verified these effects personally. Only the healing remains untested. Any volunteers?"

As soon as he finished, a voice called from the back:

"Me! I'll try!"

The crowd turned, seeing the injured squad from yesterday's Jia City battle, the volunteer the most severely wounded soldier.

His leg had been bitten by a Black Spinal Bug, but lv9 Red Armor saved it from amputation, though muscle and bone were shattered.

Even an awakener's robust physique only healed skin, with torn muscles and bones needing long natural recovery.

Medical technology couldn't heal this instantly.

"The saying '100 days for tendon and bone' applied even with awakeners' tenfold attributes, needing two weeks for full recovery."

"This meant the injured couldn't fight beside their comrades, relegated to logistics or kitchen duties."

"Falling behind would make them lag in awakening progress."

"Watching former peers surpass them, even weaker ones catching up, was psychologically burdensome."

"So this soldier's volunteering was 'natural.'"

"Not wanting to fall behind, he risked it!"

"And Lin Feng needed such 'warriors'"

To prove the organic nutrient's efficacy!

With a crutch, the soldier limped forward, aided by Lin Feng, to the bow.

Lin Feng asked:

"What's your name?"

The young man, eyes moist, replied:

"Liu... Liu Yi."

Lin Feng nodded, patting his shoulder:

"Good, Liu Yi. After today, your leg will heal quickly. I look forward to your battlefield performance!"

Handing the 2.5-liter bottle of milky organic nutrients to Liu Yi.

He took it, opened the bottle with Lin Feng's support, inhaled deeply, and drank.

Instead of the imagined fishy taste, the liquid was warm and neutral.

The nutrients absorbed directly, creating a sensation akin to awakening.

As he drank most of the bottle...

Absorbed rapidly by his stomach, energy surged throughout, concentrating on his fractured leg.

Liu Yi drained half the bottle, setting it down as his body temperature rose, circulation quickened, and his face reddened.

The itching and burning in his leg made him shake off Lin Feng's support, collapsing.

Curled on the ground like a cooked shrimp.

The suddenness stunned the crowd.

Lin Feng hadn't expected such intensity in the healing process.

Quickly, he caught the bottle Liu Yi dropped, preventing further spillage.

Was the ground contamination causing this?

Lin Feng was uncertain.

The identification showed no negative state or severe injury, indicating the nutrient was fine.

But the team appeared fearful.

Alien insect meat was toxic,

Ingrained in training and survivor experiences.

Seeing Liu Yi's pain...

Some cast skeptical glances at the sergeant.

He'd claimed the white egg shell's organic nutrients...

Were harmless and miraculous.

Yet here was evidence...

Of the dangers of consuming insect meat.
