Ant King In MHA

Chapter 83: In Search of a Friend

__________ POV Beru__________

Now, how do I go about finding where Souma was taken?

I could ask Oyama, but that would just make me 'owe' her a favour or something, and I want none of that.

Asking Nezu might be a much better alternative. So I guess I'll do just that.

I warped myself in front of his door and knocked a few times until I heard a faint "Come in"

I opened the door, and I was quite surprised to see Toshi was also there.

I haven't really spoken to him in private after the whole mess with the internship. But I could see him look at me oddly a few times.

I think Izuku must've told him some things about my way of handling villains... Or maybe it was my view on heroes? Oh well, maybe he was just busy.

__________ POV Narration__________

Both Toshinori and Nezu were a bit surprised to see Beru standing at the door.

They had been inside the office, speculating on where exactly this new villain organisation originated from.

They were both quite confident that it had some ties to All for One, even if they were no longer under his control.

All Might was obviously a bit worried, but he was still confident in catching that villain. As long as there was no one nearby and he could go all out, then he was sure that he was capable enough.

Even with his waning strength, he was still the Symbol of Peace after all.

There were still plenty of problems though. Such as, what exactly was the objective of that organisation?

Nezu did come to a few conclusions. He noticed that there was no monetary incentive, he knew that they weren't interested in actually hurting anyone.

So, he managed to theorize a few things. The organisation seemed to be trying to catch the attention of someone.

And by the reaction of that agent that the organisation had sent, it wasn't a person in that particular group of heroes.

Nezu knew that the heists could've been done for a variety of reasons. But this was the most probable choice.

He was in the middle of discussing his theory with Toshinori when he heard knocking on the door.

Nezu knew that the teachers couldn't have been the ones to knock, they were supposed to be at their classes currently.

Beru hadn't really visited Nezu all that often after his deal with the Hero Public Safety Commission. Although the two would still speak on occasion.

And Toshinori didn't really know what to think about the young hero.

On one hand, he knew how positive an influence he had on the people around him. On the other, he also knew that Beru was extremely brutal with villains.

It certainly didn't help that Beru's ideology seemed to be somewhat skewed. All Might attributed that to the young insectoid's troubled upbringing.

But, in actuality, Beru's upbringing was only one of the many factors that formed his character and ideology.

His actions in the past shaped him into what he was currently. Laid back, cynical and somewhat ruled by base instincts at times.

Just like he was when he was after All for One, just like he was when he ripped off Stain's arm.

Beru was by no means a villain, but he was also far from being the perfect Hero that the younger generations saw with their starry eyes.

To All Might, Beru was now the embodiment of all the injustice Hero Society was capable of out-putting.

The Symbol was admittedly afraid that Beru would one day just snap. As there was simply no way for anyone to hold him back.

He could only hope that the next generation of heroes was better than the last. Even then, Beru was only going to grow stronger.

Toshinori was always worried for Beru, but the incident with Stain and the account of his pupil solidified that worry. He could no longer consider Beru a safe individual.

Nezu himself was oblivious to his friend/employee's misguided thoughts. He was currently just answering a few questions from Beru, as the two just sat around and spoke calmly.

"So... Do you have any idea where they might've been taken? I made sure that they were raided and captured, but I have no idea where they ended up." Beru's voice did eventually break Toshinori out of his daze.

"Finding him would be difficult depending on who we ask... I might have to contact the chief of police for this to be smoother." Nezu sipped from his small mug as he looked a bit confused.

Nezu knew better than to ask why Beru was interested in one of the Nomus that had been captured. He didn't know Beru's full story, but he could tell that the Nomu might've had some connection with Beru in the past.

All for One did 'adopt' quite a few children on the same day that Beru had vanished. From the same orphanage that Beru had lived in. So Nezu could easily guess Beru's reasons.

"What exactly will you do with this information? I'm just curious..." Nezu asked while looking at Beru seriously.

He didn't want Beru to go on a spree there. He was well aware of what the situation with the Nomus would be. There was nothing they could've been used for besides research.

So, Nezu needed to know whether or not Beru was planning on anything... Unsavoury.

Although, he was quite unsure if he was even going to try and stop Beru. He could somewhat understand the situation after all.

"I want to know where he is~ I don't really plan on doing anything now~ I can't really undo his transformation by myself~" Beru's words were quite calming to the principal.

He knew that Beru was quite honest with him. So he didn't worry much about it.

Still, there was something else weighing on his mind now.

'What if the researchers aren't really trying to fix the Nomus?' It was pretty clear that the Nomus were 'perfect soldiers'. And Nezu knew how the government would react to having that type of knowledge...

There was a high chance that the facilities were currently trying to create more Nomus. But he had no way to back up his claims.

They would just remain as worries for now.

"I'll look into it for you. I'll get back to you, hopefully soon." Nezu said after letting off a large sigh.

"Thanks a lot, Nezu~ We should really go drinking more often by the way~ Somewhere legal this time~" Nezu just chuckled a bit as Beru left the room.

"See you too Toshi~ I'm sure we'll get more chances to speak~," Beru said as he walked out.

All Might also muttered a goodbye, as the young hero closed the door behind him.

__________ POV Beru__________

That went surprisingly well.

I was expecting Nezu to probe into my motives a bit more. But I guess he's always been perceptive...

Now, what exactly is up with Toshi. He seems really on edge all the time. The dude looked almost constipated earlier.

Well, I guess he'll tell me if it's important. I doubt Toshi of all people would have something against me. It's probably just my paranoia sneaking up on me again.

I've always had that problem really. My senses aren't always right, but I can sometimes spot out some unusual behaviour.

These moments seemed to have become more prominent now that I have all of these powers. I guess by base senses are enhanced greatly?

Regardless, I don't really get why Toshi is acting the way he is. But he is genuinely looking concerned sometimes.

I guess all of it will come out in time.

Right now, I don't really have much to do though, Toga is in class and most of my friends still do have jobs... I could use a walk honestly.(or a fly, I guess)

Maybe I should go fly around somewhere... I've nothing planned right now anyway.
