Another World Reincarnation Chronicle

Chapter 155

“Not too bad…”

I looked at the golden campsite created using the Golden Sword and smiled with satisfaction. The campsite made from the Golden Dragon’s body was sparkling beautifully.

– Phew!

The Nightmare seemed to like the golden bed made of gold as it rolled around on the shiny golden bed. The power of [Golden Fragrance of Greed] possessed by the Golden Sword had various uses beyond just combat.

Certainly, the sparkling gold was overly eye-catching, but who cares? I could just cover it with dirt or leaves to hide the light.

I sat on the golden chair and observed the campsite I had created. Since I didn’t have much of the Golden Dragon’s body to work with, the thin and simple golden structures took on a precarious form.

If it had been regular gold, the bed would have collapsed under its own weight, and the thin golden walls would have fluttered in the wind. It was an unsettling sight, but the Golden Dragon’s body had a strength unlike ordinary gold, so there was no need to worry.

Regular monsters wouldn’t be able to pierce through those golden walls.

Crack-!

The campfire positioned in the center was burning quickly. I pulled out the compass that pointed to Trevel from my pocket. The tip of the compass was indicating beyond the desert.

*

Riding along the sparkling Milky Way, I dashed across the vast desert. As I recklessly ran toward the direction the compass pointed, the surrounding landscape began to change.

What used to feel like soft sand had turned into solid ground, and where there was nothing, dry trees and huge rocks began to emerge, along with mountains covered in green.

When moisture began to fill the dry wind, it became hard to find the characteristic sand of the desert.

“Wow…”

I muttered as I looked up at the towering trees. Everything in this area was large. The trees, the grass, and even the bugs crawling on the ground. I couldn’t help but be amazed when I saw enormous ants, as big as bulls, moving in groups.

It felt like I had arrived in a land of giants from a fairy tale.

As I continued to weave through the bushes with the Nightmare, I swung my sword to cut down the leaves blocking my way, and my gaze caught a giant bird’s nest.

The nest was perched on a gigantic tree, but the height posed no problem for me.

Licking my lips, I thought. The bird eggs I tasted in Janghon were so delicious; I wondered if the bird eggs here would be just as tasty?

I figured it was worth checking. I patted the Nightmare’s head and pulled its bridle.

Arriving at the giant tree, reminiscent of the World Tree of the Elves, I saw both big and small bugs swarming around.

If I climbed the tree the usual way, I would surely waste time fighting those creatures. I immediately drew the Golden Sword and manipulated the Golden Dragon’s body the Nightmare was carrying.

The sluggishly rising colossal gold shaped into a broad plate. This golden plate would serve as a flying vessel to take me and the Nightmare up to the top of the tree.

I smiled lightly and climbed onto it with the Nightmare.

“Let’s go!”

With a short shout, I raised the Golden Sword towards the sky, and the golden plate shot up rapidly. In an instant, we arrived next to the giant bird’s nest.

As I expected, there were five large eggs in the nest. Due to my conscience, I couldn’t take them all, so I decided to pick just two.

– Phew!

The Nightmare also seemed to remember the bird eggs it had eaten in Janghon, licking its lips in anticipation. Just when I was about to take the bird eggs with the Nightmare—

– Beep!

A gigantic cry echoed from afar, shaking my eardrums. Turning my head toward the sound, I saw a massive shadow and a stormy wind approaching.

Fwoosh-!

The razor-sharp eyes typical of predatory birds, a sturdy beak, sharp claws, and enormous wings that could overshadow the sky filled my vision.

“Oh no…”

The giant bird looked furious. It sure didn’t seem like it would let us intruders go easily. I tightened my grip on the sword without saying a word.

– Beep!

The giant bird suddenly lunged at me with a high-pitched cry. With a rough flap of its wings, its sharp claws came soaring in, but I didn’t dodge. I didn’t need to.

Just before the giant bird’s claws crushed my head, the gold flew in quickly, spreading wide to form a massive barrier.

Boom-!

The moment the shining gold collided with the bird’s legs, a huge shockwave erupted, but I didn’t feel any impact.

The only thing left was a faint dent on the body of the bird, having received my attack. Regular monsters wouldn’t even leave a scratch.

– Beep!

The bird didn’t stop attacking. It roared furiously, flapping its wings and began to stab at the golden barrier with its beak.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The bird futilely struck the unyielding shield. But what can I say? I want to eat the bird’s eggs!

I manipulated the wide-spreading golden barrier to cover the bird’s face. I didn’t intend to kill it. I just wanted to make sure it didn’t see me taking its eggs.

– Beep!

Maybe because its view was blocked? The thrashing bird lay on a thick branch, panting heavily. I passed by it and grabbed two giant eggs, placing them on the golden plate.

I was done here. At once, I maneuvered the golden plate to start descending. The gold covering the bird’s face would gradually fall away with time and return to me.

As I descended from the giant tree to the ground, a sparkling chunk of gold quickly fell down. The body of the Golden Dragon that had been covering the bird’s face was retrieved.

– Beep!

Cooking the giant bird’s eggs was simple. Just cover them in clay and roast them over the fire.

In the past, I would have made a separate oven, but now it wasn’t necessary. As I held the Golden Sword in my hand and imagined the oven, a massive golden oven appeared before my eyes.

– Beep!

Listening to the mother bird’s cries as my music, I roasted and ate the giant bird’s eggs with the Nightmare. The eggs were pretty tasty.

After about a week passed, the everyday life in the giant forest filled with flying fish in the sky, enormous fruits as big as houses, and massive swarms of insects was a continuous wonder.

Now, after about two weeks, as I exited the forest, I looked up at the giant castle floating in the sky.

Following the compass pointing to Trevel, I had emerged from the land of giants and arrived at this wide plain.

I tilted my head and stared at the compass. The needle of the compass was precisely aimed at the Castle in the Sky.

A giant castle floating over the plain, could this be what they mean by Trevel?

I frowned and scanned the surroundings. No matter how much I looked around, I couldn’t find a way to approach the Trevel floating in the sky by any ordinary means.

It seemed that visiting Trevel through standard methods wouldn’t be possible.

“Nightmare. Come over here.”

Phew—

Nodding in response to my words, the Nightmare began to shrink. Like a puppy, it jumped and hopped into my bag.

If I couldn’t approach it the usual way, then I would just fly on the sword. I levitated the Ice Dragon Sword into the air and climbed on it.

As I started flying upward on the sword, I could observe the giant castle in more detail.

How do the wizards of this place use their magic? My curiosity grew as I quickly dashed toward Trevel.

Just as I was about to enter Trevel, I heard a loud bang! and felt a slight impact on my face.

“Uh…”

Was it rejecting the entry of outsiders? I rubbed my nose and took a step back. In front of me, a blue magic circle had appeared.

Reaching out to touch the blue magical barrier, I unexpectedly felt its solidity. It was a defensive magic that repelled outside invaders and blocked attacks. There was a similar type of magic cast on the Mage Tower in the Celestial Realm, so I was familiar with it.

Feeling my eyes heat up, I deconstructed the spells intertwined in the magic circle. As I traced the flow of mana I gleaned, I realized the source of this magic was concentrated deep within the giant castle.

I licked my lips, feeling thirsty. This magic circle wouldn’t deactivate just by waiting. There had to be permission from the wizard who cast it, or I would have to force my way in.

In this case, my choice was the latter. It was an unavoidable decision.

Immediately, I drew the Fire Dragon Sword and ignited a hot flame. There was no need to form an Aura Blade. All I needed was to create a small hole for me to pass through.

Whoosh-!

A low breath flowed through the hot flames. I immediately swung the Fire Dragon Sword in my hand.

Crack-!

With a rough resistance, the blue mana barrier shattered. I passed through the hole created and entered inside.

Since I hadn’t destroyed the magic formula itself, the mana barrier would return to its original form over time. I glanced back at the gaping hole and soared towards the giant castle.
