An Exorcist Magical Girl!

Chapter 16

Quite the magical girl entrance, Narea.

 “Step back, everyone.”

Narea flicked her hand with a flourish, and an invisible wall formed.

It surrounded our classmates and the gym teacher, who were out on the playground, making a crackling sound.

It was a shield of sorts.

The magic glowed blue as it gathered into Narea’s left hand, which then transformed into a six-shot revolver.

“The

“Six-shot angel”.

 I muttered Narea’s title absentmindedly.

Regardless of the type and number of monsters, Narea was known for ending battles before her initially loaded six bullets were empty.

All six. Hence the title

“Six-shot angel”

.

I still get goosebumps thinking about the eighteen monsters she killed with just four shots during a simulation test last September.

The bullets seem to bend to Narea’s will, changing direction and pursuing their targets.

The speed and destructive power of the bullet doesn’t slow down when it pierces a core, and it continues on to the next target.

It’s a combination of insane accuracy and insane magic.

A battle room that only a genius could create.

 “That was pretty cool.”

I whispered to myself.

“Huh? What did you just say?”

Seo Jun asked, tilting her head slightly as if she’d heard me talking to myself.

 “Nothing much.”

I didn’t want her to know that I was a former magical girl.

That I was once envious of that pink-haired magical girl, that I was tormented by my inability to even come close to matching her magnificent toes.

I don’t need to tell her that, do I?

Suddenly, I wondered if Seo Jun had ever felt this way.

She looked so emotionless. Even now, unlike the other kids who cheer when their idols appear, Seo Jun is quiet, as if she doesn’t care.

I don’t know if she’s just emotionless on the outside, or if she’s not really capable of changing her emotions.

Oh, come to think of it, I don’t even know her talent level or total skills.

I’ve been asking Seo Jun this question because we’re the same age, but she’s much more senior than me when it comes to exorcising, and it’s ridiculous to ask other people’s talent levels when I’m S-rank.

I guess it’s good to know so we can continue to go on missions together.

Maybe one day I’ll catch her and casually ask.

 “Kkkrrreeee!”

In the midst of my thoughts, the Fetter, who had been lying on its back, leaped to its feet and lunged at Narea.

Narea must have been surprised by its outburst, but she didn’t even flinch, just pointed her gun at it.

Its eyes flashed blue.

 BANG!

A powerful gunshot pierced the monster’s scream.

The bullet flew in a blue trajectory and pierced Fetter’s core.

The dull core shattered with an incongruous clear sound, and Fetter fell helplessly to the ground.

While ghosts naturally disappear when their core is destroyed, monsters are different in that they leave behind a corpse.

After the battle, it was up to the Magical Girl Beta Team to dispose of the remaining corpses.

Once the alpha team has killed all the monsters, they’ll hand them off to the waiting beta team.

So, when Narea kills a monster and doesn’t contact you right away,

 “Kkkrrreeee!”

It meant the battle wasn’t over.

The bullet that had destroyed Fettter’s core a moment ago quickly turned and flew away.

The blue energy surrounding the bullet thickened, giving it momentum, shattering the Fetter’s core as it leaped over the opposite wall and flew into the center of the field.

It was the same clear sound of shattering glass as before, but the decibels were triple what they had just been.

Holy shit. The destructive power increased.

Just maintaining the destructive power of the first trigger, as the bullet changed direction, was unparalleled.

Now she can even energize objects that have left her hands to increase their destructive power.

I can only admire her skill.

Narea used her right hand, which wasn’t gripping the revolver, to tug at her tie and loosen it.

The blue tie stretched out like a whip, striking out at the Fetter’s corpse, which was falling toward us.

It barely scratched the protective wall with the front paws of its limp body.

It wouldn’t have done much damage, but the impact would have been felt.

The second Fetter’s carcass landed on top of the first, chin up.

The blue bullet slowed to a crawl back to Narea, losing its form and dissolving into a pulsing mass of light beside her left hand.

Narea pulled out her communicator.

 Chirp, chirp—

“This is Alpha Team Narea. We have two dead bodies on the Mukgyeong Girls’ High School playground, please— “

 “Kkkrrreeee!”

A sudden monster scream cut off Narea’s words.

Two more Fetters appeared.

It looked like they had jumped into this playground without judgment while running away from the other magical girl.

Judging by their small size, they must have just reached adulthood.

They were foolish enough to panic as the herd scattered, unable to judge where to run.

Narea squeezed the trigger once more.

 BANG!

Another blue trajectory was drawn in the air with a sound that ripped through the air.

One of the creatures that had jumped up plummeted to the ground, headfirst.

The bullet didn’t stop there but continued forward with a sharp crack.

The next Fetter flattened himself and dodged the bullet.

For a small monster, it was certainly agile.

The bullet grazed the leather of the Fetter’s back, then slowed to a stop, as if it had slammed on the brakes.

A tremendous amount of magic gathered around the bullet.

It looked less like a bullet and more like a giant ball of blue light.

Narea flicked her tie, restricting the Fetter’s movement.

The more it struggled, the tie tightened around it.

The magic that had formed the revolver dissolved and was immediately absorbed into her left hand.

Narea silently raised her left hand, her fingers stretched out towards the bullet, then quickly made a fist with a twist of her wrist.

With that gesture, a sphere of dense magic exploded, sending the bullet crashing down toward the Fetter’s core.

When the flash of light cleared, she saw four corpses piled one on top of the other.

The top one, the last one to die, had a gaping hole where its core had been.

Narea, you crazy…

It was a frightening growth.

 “Not two, four.”

Nare finished reporting over the radio, then turned and locked eyes with me.

I didn’t want to try to decipher what that look said, but I couldn’t help but read it.

Narea’s blue eyes were asking me a question.

Once again, we were never close enough to have a conversation with our eyes.

When did she become so interested in me?

To anyone else, they’d think we were exes.

But I was too proud to avert my eyes, so I pretended not to understand.

Seo Jun, who was watching from the side, could be heard stifling a laugh.

I take back what I said about being emotionless.

When I’m being a jerk, she shows emotion like an asshole 100%.

She’s selectively emotionless and then emotional.

She tapped me on the shoulder, so I punched her back.

Now she’s expressionless again. I don’t know if she’s rebuilding her facial muscles or if her face has been like that since she laughed earlier.

“What is it? Why are you hitting me?” “Look over there.”

At my question, Seo Jun pointed toward the school building.

 “It’s reacting to death.”

Reacting to death?

I turned my gaze to where Seo Jun’s finger was pointing.

“See that without opening the account?”

The flowerbed.

Something human-shaped was writhing in the flowerbeds at the edge of the playground.

The students standing near me spotted it and began to squeal.

“What is that?” “Is that a monster?”

Sadly, it wasn’t a monster.

It was a ghost.

“It’s a ghost! Monster gone, ghost here!” “Hey, what the hell is that?!” “Crazy!” “Ack! shit, school again!”

Classmates backing away in fear.

Other students in the school, glued to the windows, also spotted it and screamed.

“Close the windows! They’ll climb the walls!” “Don’t let them in the classroom!”  ***

Almost all of the regular students who didn’t have the power of an exorcist recognized it.

Some could not only see it, but they could also hear it.

That meant that the ghost had the power to invade the sight and hearing of so many students.

How many people’s senses it can invade and how deeply it can invade them is the measure of a ghosts’ power.

The more power you have to open a portal and interfere with a living person’s senses, the more influence you have on reality.

Seo Jun grabbed my shoulder and whispered.

“Do you recognize that thing?” “I know it’s a powerful ghost.” “It’s a flesh-hungry ghost, with only one desire for life left, and it’s trying to take over an empty shell like that, where the soul has been sucked out.”

It doesn’t matter if it’s someone else’s corpse, as long as it can hold a soul.

“The monster’s death seems to have awakened an evil spirit in the school. At first, it will target the pile of corpses over there, but if it’s persuaded, it might even kill a human to get its own body.”

In a damned calm voice, Seo Jun explained

 Crawl, crawl. Crouch.

The sound of the demon scraped my eardrums.

It sounded like a heavy curtain being lifted.

It was like the sound of a mechanical device pulling up the red curtain at the front of the stage.

It felt like the stage had been prepared for me.

Almost every eye in the school is focused on the playground.

So, this was an opportunity.

Everyone is scared, and I’m sorry, but I need to grab the opportunity in this situation.

I quickly opened my senses.

I opened it quickly so that I could adjust my senses to what I wanted to see, not what it showed.

Seo Jun saw my gesture and stepped back slightly.

 【Talent: Exorcist (Aspiring)】【Status: Utilized】【Opening the Link(開)▼】【Skill: …80%】

I’ve opened my senses to 80% and recognized the ghost with my full power.

The ghost shambled like a zombie and turned its head toward the monster’s corpse.

A few seconds of breathless silence passed.

Hmm, I recognize that face, where have I seen it before?

But before I could ponder, it started to run.

“Aaaaahhhhhhhhh!” “Oh, no, it’s coming this way!” “Run!”

My classmates screamed, everyone running in all directions.

They all lost their cool and reflexively moved their legs first, much like I remember running away from wasps at a middle school retreat.

Back then, I was the first to jump, but now it was different.

I picked up a thin twig of just the right length that had fallen to the ground and waited in place.

Somehow I feel like a prehistoric hunter.

When I was close enough to get a good enough whiff of the rottenness it exuded, I sprang forward to the monster’s carcass.

Narea, surveying the situation, grabbed me in surprise.

“You, what?” “I told you, I’m an exorcist.”

Now it was my turn to show her.

 “Is she crazy?!”

I could feel my classmates, who had been running away at someone’s shout, turn around.

《Skill: Simple Clairvoyance activated》

Ugh, I don’t see the core.

Did it do some kind of transformation or something?

Well, it doesn’t matter.

I was going to beat it up anyway.

《Skill: A Craftsman’s Wears No Tools activated》

Black energy radiates from my hands and permeates the branch.

‘I’ll give you a taste of my 95% skill!’

I swung the branch, which had transformed into a black club.

I aimed for its nose.

There’s no particular reason for it, I just remembered the saying that if you’re fighting a shark, punch it in the nose.

The only thing it has in common with a shark is that it’s a dull gray color, but whatever.

 Bam!

An incredibly loud drumbeat rang in my ears.

Then its black body dispersed like smoke and disappeared.

Hmm? What was that?

I didn’t even kill the ghost, and it just disappeared?

Maybe it got hit by one, and it just popped off.

Whatever the reason, I don’t care because I got the picture I wanted.

I set the branch down and looked around.

There were tons of eyes on me.

It was my turn to speak.

“I’m Baek Iri, sophomore, class 2, transfer student.”

My voice came out slightly shaky, but then it gained confidence and solidified.

I shouted out loud.

“Greetings from Baek Iri, the exorcist, I defeated the ghost. Please call me at the number on the hallway bulletin board!”

It was a historic moment for my plan for the progress of the defense work, the launch of the school’s exorcism business.
