Chapter 25: Wanda In Black Silk Stockings, Ch 13.1
The Cayenne slowly drove down the small road and stopped at the back gate of the base. Hode looked around and saw a woman wearing a baseball cap and hood cautiously walking out from behind a tree. Today, Wanda was not wearing her signature red coat. Her eyes, peering through her hair, were filled with melancholy and pain. From her expression, Hode could tell that she was not afraid of him, but rather of the protesters. Just like earlier, that group of crazed individuals looked like they would tear Wanda apart if given the chance.
After confirming that the distant protesters continued to fight among themselves, Wanda quickly hopped into the passenger seat of the car.
Phew~
Once inside, the tense expression on Wanda's face eased significantly as she let out a deep sigh. She would rather face Hode than those protesters. Every time she saw their twisted faces, her heart was filled with conflicting emotions.
"It's okay; they didn't see you!" Hode looked at Wanda's distressed appearance and couldn't help but offer some comfort. "Though you're not exactly a good person, I still want to thank you."
At this moment, Hode chose to stand by her side. Even though his words could be frustrating, he had always cared for her. From the beginning to the end, he had unhesitatingly chosen her.
Earlier, when he was about to jump out of the car to defend her, it warmed her heart a little. Hode was the only one, aside from the Avengers, who cared about her. Even when she had been drunk, he had been the first to try and help her. No matter how much criticism she faced from the outside, it did not shake his support.
"Oh?" Hode raised the corners of his mouth slightly, playfully countering, "Aren't I a good person?"
"Stop pretending. You approached me just for that reason!" Wanda shot him an annoyed glance.
The man seemed to have nothing else on his mind besides that. Besides that matter, how could he possibly have any other reason to come looking for her?
"Little witch, you really are a bit dirty-minded; no one else thinks like you!"
"Have you ever heard the saying, 'How you see others is how they see you'?" Hode reached out a hand and rubbed Wanda's small head firmly as he continued, "I called you out here for something serious!"
"What serious matter?" Wanda tilted her head in doubt as she looked at Hode.
"I called you out to teach you how to master Chaos Magic!" Hode did not hold back; he stated his purpose openly.
"Chaos Magic?" Wanda's eyes widened with confusion; this was the first time she had heard that term.
"It's your ability!"
Hode suddenly realized that Wanda didn't even know what the energy within her was called.
"Chaos Magic? My ability?" Wanda asked in disbelief, "You can teach me how to control it?"
She had been trying to control this ability for a long time, yet to no avail.
"Still uncertain!" Hode chuckled as his gaze swept over Wanda, who was dressed so conservatively. "But it seems like you wanted to do something else just now!"
Upon hearing this, Wanda's cheeks flushed. Wasn't Hode implying that she had impure thoughts?
She carefully glanced at Hode's expression. In truth, she didn't dislike this man; it was just that the pace of their interactions was a bit too fast for her.
"Alright!" Hode suddenly pulled Wanda a little closer and ruffled her hair, "I'm not teasing you anymore; let's go to my place!"
With that, he drove the car toward the manor.
Initially, he had planned to tell Tony that he could help Wanda stabilize her powers, but now was not the right moment. After all, he couldn't be sure that he would actually succeed; he could only approach it with a mindset of trying.
...
In the manor, in a room decorated with understated luxury, Wanda sat on the pristine white bed, her head bowed, looking restless. Since their time in the car, she couldn't help but recall the events of the previous night. As her memories became clearer, it grew increasingly difficult to forget, and she could even recall every detail. Being in Hode's room only made her heart race faster. In the quiet room, she could even hear her own heartbeat.
Hode casually pulled over a chair and sat across from Wanda, and she could smell the cologne he wore in every movement he made.
"Wanda, before we begin, I'd like to ask you a question!" Hode sat up straight, his expression serious as he looked into Wanda's blue eyes.
"What is it…" Wanda, who had initially felt nervous, was now somewhat unaccustomed to Hode's seriousness.
