Chapter 66 Horse Market
Malik dismounted and the bearded man gave him a hug.
"I haven't seen you for a few months. The industry has grown a lot. We have helpers." The bearded man glanced at Chen Jianqiu and others behind Malik and said with a hearty smile.
"Well, these are friends I just met. They came up with some horses." Seeing that Chen Jianqiu didn't speak, Malik said for him.
"Pack horse or riding horse?"
"Quarter Horse."
"Okay, come with me."
Everyone unloaded the boots and cargo hanging from the horse, leaving Sean where he was.
"If you can deal with it, deal with it. If you can't deal with it, just wait and see." Chen Jianqiu said.
The uncle in blue clothes and a beard led them to the front of a large shed. The outside of the shed was surrounded by a simple wooden fence to form a temporary horse farm, and the shed itself was a simple stable. Both the racecourse and the stable stalls are full of horses of various breeds.
People in various clothes stood inside and outside the shed. Some of them were discussing the price of the horses, while others were inspecting the quality of the horses themselves.
Chen Jianqiu and his entourage walked in leading a group of horses, and the attention of everyone was instantly attracted.
What caught their attention was not the quarter horses in a line, but the black radish!
Black Carrot has never known what it means to be low-key. It walks with a high head and a majestic appearance. There are many experts who know horses around it. Some of them looked straight at it, while others subconsciously wiped their saliva.
Some of them have already gathered together.
"Hey, brother, do you want to sell this horse?"
"Sir, I am a staff member of the Pitkin Riding Horse Association. Are you interested in letting me do a comprehensive pedigree certification for your horse?"
"Sir, please give me a price."
……
Chen Jianqiu lowered his cowboy hat, feeling noisy from the people around him.
So he held out a finger.
"Hundred dollars?"
Chen Jianqiu shook his head: "Ten thousand."
"This man is mentally ill."
"This cowboy is crazy about money. If he doesn't sell it, he won't sell it. Why do he talk like that?"
……
The people who were in high spirits just now dispersed, they would rather spend more time to see the horses in the shed.
The bearded man in blue clothes led them through the crowd and came to the edge of the wooden fence.
A tall and thin man with his back to them was recommending his horse to a passerby who came to buy a horse:
"Sir, look at these strong guys. They are American pinto horses that we have carefully bred. They can carry you and run all day long without feeling tired."
There was some hesitation on the face of the passerby, and he seemed not very satisfied.
Seeing this, the tall and lanky man said hurriedly: "If you are not satisfied with these horses, there are better ones in the shed with more complete varieties, including Tennessee walking horses and Kentucky horses. To be honest, I I even acquired a thoroughbred horse recently, but the price may be a bit high."
"Hey Thomas!"
The bearded man walked up behind the tall and thin man and patted his shoulder.
The horse dealer named Thomas turned his head, and only then did Chen Jianqiu see his appearance clearly. He had a thin face, wore overalls, had a goatee, and was chewing something unknown.
"These people are going to take action." After the bearded man finished speaking, he turned around and pulled Malik away.
They were going to talk about the sale of those sheep.
Goatee Thomas' eyes swept among Chen Jianqiu's group of people, and finally landed on Black Carrot.
He stood there for a moment.
"Oh my God! Is it this horse? Oh my God!"
Thomas walked quickly to the black radish and looked at it slowly, as if he was admiring a piece of art.
"Tsk, tsk, it's so beautiful, so perfect. This is the first time I've seen such an excellent pure-blood Turkmen so close. The last time, I took a look at it from a distance in Lexington, Kentucky. That horse was not as good as this one. A majestic one.”
Goatee Thomas cautiously reached out his hand, wanting to lightly touch the manes of these black horses, but was frightened by Black Carrot's impatient shake of the head, causing him to take two steps back.
He smiled awkwardly at Chen Jianqiu: "I'm afraid I can't handle this horse."
Chen Jianqiu pointed to the seven or eight quarter horses behind him with his thumb: "These are the ones we have."
Thomas was even more embarrassed.
This group of people is quite well-established, and these horses look to be of the highest quality. Could it be that a large horse farm in Colorado has started shipping horses recently?
He nodded quickly and walked to the group of quarter horses.
Thomas first looked at the horses' teeth and checked their eyes, and then bent down to carefully observe the horses' bodies.
But when he looked at a few horses and stood up again, his expression changed.
"I'm sorry, sir. I'm really sorry. We may not be able to keep these horses."
Thomas wanted to continue to say something, but after looking at Chen Jianqiu and the heavily armed men behind him, he hesitated.
Chen Jianqiu understood what he meant.
These horses should all be registered in Colorado. I don’t know the rules of this business, but Thomas must have discovered something.
He must have thought his gang were horse thieves. Due to some unwritten agreement within the industry, he did not speak out directly and would not report them.
Taima will definitely not accept it.
Chen Jianqiu said nothing, took the horse and walked outside.
It seems that I can only think of other ways.
They walked out of the horse market and returned to the market.
Chen Jianqiu saw Sean from a distance. At this time, he was squatting on the roadside, happily clicking a wad of US dollars. The pile of boots in front of him had disappeared.
"You, in such a short time, sold out?" Holmes was a little unbelievable.
Sean grinned so much that he bared his teeth and handed the money to Chen Jianqiu. Chen Jianqiu, as usual, distributed some money to each person.
“I told them a story about Fultz, the captain of the Colorado Rangers, who solved the kidnapping case in Denver, and then told them that these boots were the same style that Fultz was wearing.”
But it's the same style, just ripped off a dead man's foot.
Sean was still describing the exciting process of bringing goods just now, but he suddenly stopped and his eyes fell on a few people not far from them.
A familiar feeling arose in his heart.
Chen Jianqiu also noticed these people, and they have been following him since he left the horse market.
"Boss, we seem to be being targeted." Sean lowered his head and said to Chen Jianqiu.
"Don't worry, let's see what they are going to do." Chen Jianqiu called the others to gather together.
They purchased some supplies, and Chen Jianqiu changed his clothes back to the ones he had worn in Montrose. He found the exact same ones at a clothing stall.
Malik quickly joined them. He sold his sheep. The bearded man in blue didn't know if he was looking at the fierce people behind him and didn't cut his price.
The group of people left the market and set up camp near a grassy meadow not far from the town.
They plan to spend the night here first.
Night fell quickly, the night wind was a bit cold, and the bonfire didn't look very bright.
Several figures quietly approached the group of tied quarter horses. One of them reached for the tying rope.
But the next second, his hand was held down, and a dagger was placed on his neck. And several others were also restrained one by one.
"Don't do it! Don't do it, we are colleagues." The person who was caught shouted nervously.
He was kicked to the ground. A Chinese man came out of the shadows and stepped on him:
"Who is traveling with you? You horse thief!"
Just got home, second update
