Adventures in Enquest 1/3 Welcome to the System

“Greetings humans! It has come to my attention that you exist. In recognition of your existence I would like to inform you that your star system has been conquered. Specifically, your planet was granted to the Enquest Sector Power and Waste Management Corporation for use as a disposal site for a dangerous substance we have decided to translate into your english language as ‘Mana.’ Over the next twentyfour hours of your local time system you will be given the option of becoming class one citizens of The Authority. This will give you access to the Transdimensional Power and Waste Mutation Nullification and Extradimensional Storage and Transit System or MENU for short.”

“In light of these recent changes your planet has been reclassified by The Authority from a class F, or frontier world, to a class D, or dump world. Thankfully in recognition of the Homeland Act of system year 12,342,964,526,541 by the Earth Equivalent System Time or EQST or the year 5,562,100 BCE by your current calendar system, you are allowed to remain in your homes. This is not recommended. Over the course of the next three years of your current calendar system your planet will be transformed from a safety rating 50-53 to a projected SR of 5,623,111-5,700,003 planet. As the basic combat level of your species is only 10 it is recommended that you find passage out of the system before these three years are up.”

“This has been an automated announcement by the Enquest Sector Power and Waste Management Corporation, serving the Enquest sector with clean safe power since system year 1,000,000,000. Thank you and have a great day.”

The Enquest Sector Power and Waste Management Corporation has elected to offer you Class one citizenship. Do you accept?

“Uhh… Yes?”

As a class one citizen you now have access to the following Social Classes

[Slave] [Serf] [Indentured Servant] [Vagrant]

Based on your history MENU suggests you select [Serf]

“Vagrant?”

Based on MENU data this is an inappropriate option.

This may cause issues with your interactions with the people you know.

Please confirm your selection.

Did you say “loocuss arhur wilyums?”

“No? In the english spelling it should be…”

One moment, we are processing your input.

Thank you for waiting.

You input has been judged as a “Yes”

Is the result acceptable?

Right… I guess I need to distribute these augmentation points. Mental endurance seems to be a good first choice. I expect I will need a lot of resolve if all of this is real. I guess I could have gone crazy but I’m not willing to risk my life just because I started hearing voices and seeing floating screens. I would rather be crazy and act like I’m in some LitRPG story than be sane and act like none of this has happened.

I wonder if I should call off work tomorrow, I should. I think I spend so much time there that the system thought I was a Serf.

I wander into the kitchen to get something to eat, being woken up by a voice in my head is a good way to work up an appetite I guess. When I get into the kitchen I see an ant walking across the counter. Every step it takes it gets bigger in size. When It gets to the size of a mouse I come to my senses and grab one of my frying pans off of the stove and smash the growing insect.

Would you like to recycle the corpse using your inventory?

“Eww… Yes.”

You have been refunded 100 credits.

“Umm…. System, What are credits for and how can I use them?”

Credits are the universal currency of The Authority. As such they may be used in any and all transactions. As a class one citizen you have access to the tier one of the Universal Mall.

“Right, can you open the universal Mall and filter out all non Tier one Items and any Item above one thousand credits?”

MONSTER Detection

Creadits 100

Uses your connection to the system to locate Mana Influenced and Mutated Creatures Labeled as Useable for Use as Raw Materials or MONSTERs.

Right, ignoring the rest of the options for now I think I should get the detections skill… so I get it. It takes a moment for me to figure out how to use the skill but once I manage it I discover a collection of MONSTERs not far from my apartment. Judging by the direction of the MONSTERS I am figuring that it points to the dumpster.

On the one hand I typically spend my days off fighting monsters, granted I usually only do this by playing video games, MONSTER killing is a different task entirely. I am happy for the increase in AP and by extension the increase in my CL. I ready for bed now and My MENU has an new option, Skills. I picked up a few more skills and managed to bring my CL up to 20. Right now I am focusing on Endurance seeing as dieing sucks.

Mana Bolt

CAMPING Projection 6 foot sphere

Right, I killed enough MONSTERs to upgrade my citizenship, I had to wait until I was CL 20 but I figured it was important to take care of that early. I picked up Mana bolt to make killing the mutating vermin, I killed a few giant mice as well, but I haven’t managed to get it working yet. The CAMPING Projection skill was something I grabbed because it seemed I would need it. CAMPING stands for Dangerous Mutated Creature Repelling Aura and Anti-Mutation Zone. Basically I project the CAMP aura and the area is safe from MONSTERs for a period of time based on how much energy I use to make it.

When I wake up the next morning I hear another automated message.

“Greetings humans! Congratulations 60% of the human population chose to become citizens of The Authority. As we speak the system has begun to integrate the human species fully into The Authority Over the course of the next month of your local callander this process will continue. During this time you will receive the occasional system message informing you of changes to the system that apply to you.”
