Chapter 62: Processed Coping
Alexander didn't delay for long on the first floor and headed for the upstairs area after giving his daily greetings and orders.
Galina and Milla could only follow as they took to the stairs. There was a lot to ask but they still had to wait since they are still processing things.
Seeing a kid ordering around adults was not something one could see in any normal day.
Eventually, they reached the second floor and another round of little boss panderings had to be done.
------
Alexander simply called out and handed his piece. "Mr. 5, here's another one for the color waiting list. Do note that it's on the ThunderCats line."
"Yes, little boss." The team leader of group number 5 was already numb to this situation. The little boss just churns out issues daily and they could only work hard to catch up.
They even had some talks with some competitor company's that sought to recruit them. Although they didn't take the bait, they still got to know the industry's comic booking standard and their little boss is just above that category.
Why would they even think of being seduced by superhero pandering slowpokes when they have super-efficient speedster and a much successful little person to work under?
"How are the group's reactions to that comic convention by the way?" Alexander suddenly remembered an interesting tidbit.
"The organizers are looking forward to Creed Comics being present all the time." Mr. 5 iterated while also noting a convention memo he was told. "However, they are still adamant for you to be there, little boss. Those fans and costume wearers are looking forward to unmasking the rising creator of the industry."
"That can be set aside for later when I'm not too busy." Alexander simply answered while Mr. 5 and the artsy eavesdroppers could only sigh with regret.
Doing the reworking, inking, and coloring could not be enough to substitute the creator that did the foundation of it all.
They would be having a hard time pleasing the people who were looking forward to having their Creed Comics' issues signed by the elusive Alexander Creed.
Still, the employees could only look forward to that time when they would shock the crowd with their little boss's identity.
Alexander didn't dive much further into Comic-Con territory after that as he would only consider joining one for later. Although he never did try to attend one, it was still interesting to note that his company has become one of its spectacles.
It would be fun to know how creative the nerds could be in those convention situations with the lack of proper costume merchandise but the Halloween season has yet to arrive.
Creed Comics had a strict plan to follow through with all the merchandising authorizations that they have to sift through.
Fortunately, the family's defunct Creed Clothings is on its way to being restructuring. Alexander was quite looking forward to handling a company that was once spearheaded with the grandmother he never got to meet.
-------
The next part of his second-floor responsibilities is to foolproof the ongoing projects.
Creed Comics had finally given him leeway as he let these art people some responsibilities on paneling and writing work.
He had already handed an excerpt of his outline for Dragonball and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the sufficient groups to work with.
Ever since last May, the 50 artists had finally been given a reprieve as the little boss outsourced his solo-ed jobs to them.
They were enthused to find out that they would finally have writing and planning credits to their name.
Granted that they still needed his approval for every decision they were making. Alexander was still quite satisfied with what they had done so far as they did some needed expansion to the Turtles storyline.
As a little boss, he still had ThunderCats under his full creative control but the outsourcing really helped in lightening his load.
The team in-charge of Dragonball had it much easier as they continue to churn out issue after issue since it was the one that had better and coherent outline than the reet.
In any case, Alexander took his chief editorial job quite seriously as he needs to oversee everything lest they devolve into the mess that the Big Two presently are and how Troy-jan had been.
-----
After his early round of second-floor patrol, Alexander quickly turned to the tagalongs that are still coping with events and looking at him weirdly.
Of course, he didn't forget to introduce them to the group and the gossiping employees huddled together to come up with the creative designations for them.
Tentatively, Miss Galina was Ms. Babysitter while Milla girl was little Ms. Friend.
Alexander didn't continue to bother with their employee quirkiness and just lead the mother and daughter duo to his office.
------
Inside his little boss office, Alexander got them to sit down as he finally kitted out the place with some accomodating seats and sofas.
"Well, Miss Galina. As you saw outside, the rest of my day is set with boring art stuff. I don't know if my grandpa has briefed you, but the rest of the day could be free time for yourself as the next thing you'll be worrying about me is the drive home after closing time which is about 5 in the afternoon."
"I know. Mr. Creed was clear on your relative independence but this... this is really something else." Miss Galina reassured the boy while also admiring these new details that she failed to know.
"Is this what your grandfather meant by subordinates?" Galina's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she remembered that information from their first encounter. "I assumed it was your imaginary friends or whatnot. How foolish was I now that I know that it is all real?"
Nobody had informed her about babysitting a kid boss of a truly functioning company. She had no complaints though as she felt like she got the jackpot.
"It is nothing special really." Alexander could only say so to downplay their shock. "On the bright side, you and miss Milla could stay at our house for a while if you find this place to be boring. You could also be free to do other stuff as I'm sure there would be something you have planned to do on the side."
Galina didn't even care for the spike of maturity that the boy is showing. In her head, Alex's value had spiked and his considerations for them only fuelled her drive to do her job better.
-----
Alexander had no idea what was going on in this babysitter's head but he was relieved that the shock period finally subsided and he could get on with his work.
It would also seem that Miss Galina sought to stay here for the day and get to know its people and the company. Her nose for opportunity was higher than ever as she got to uncover all of her new babysitee's accomplishments.
As for little Milla, she was stuck in place as she eyed her new friend and tried to cope with all the events that took place.
It was way beyond her understanding but she could more or less tell that this supposedly quiet friend of hers was awesome.
