Chapter 66 - Gift (2)
It wasn’t until the time was almost up and Song Zheming was about to leave that Zang Ya revealed to him, as if inadvertently, the news that the government had opened a new salt road and how to open the pass.
Song Zheming was a little surprised when he heard this and looked up at Zang Ya in disbelief.
Zang Ya nodded toward him lightly and pointed out a few key points in an understatement.
Song Zheming nodded vigorously and left with Song Wanwan gratefully. He had to tell his father the news quickly. If his father could handle this matter, then their family would be able to move forward. It could also fill in the loopholes caused by last time’s mistakes.
After the two left, An Yun looked at their hurried figures and then at Zang Ya next to him, strangely. “What did you just say? Why does he look so excited?”
Zang Ya turned to look at An Yun next to him, stretched out his hand to straighten his unruly hair, and said calmly, “It’s not something important, just a casual comment.”
When An Yun saw that Zang Ya didn’t want to talk, he stopped asking any more questions.
Zang Ya continued to pull him and said, “Let’s go and see what they have sent.”
An Yun was led by him and nodded gently, “Yes.”
“By the way, I have something to give you in a few days.”
“What?”
“Secret!”
An Yun turned to look at Zang Ya. Seeing that he didn’t want to say anything more and was only smiling mysteriously, An Yun stopped asking. Since Zang Ya said it would be in a few days, he decided to wait and see.
.
A few days later, Zang Ya woke up early in the morning to wake An Yun and asked him to go out with him.
An Yun thought this was a bit strange, but he still got up early, as Zang Ya had asked, then packed up and prepared to go out with him.
Since he didn’t know where they were going, An Yun was worried about walking, so he changed into light clothes and shoes that were more suitable for walking.
Zang Ya looked at An Yun’s clothes but didn’t say anything further.
Seeing that Zang Ya acquiesced to his dress, An Yun became more and more curious. He even began to wonder if Zang Ya was planning to take him hiking.
It wasn’t until the carriage drove all the way toward the bustling streets that An Yun realized his assumption about a mountain climb was wrong. Looking at the prosperous and lively scenery around him, An Yun started to wonder: ‘Is Zang Ya planning to take him shopping again?’
This idea was completely abandoned when Zang Ya got off the carriage and led him down with him. In front of them stood a completely vacant store, as though it had just been moved out of.
Seeing this, An Yun seemed to remember something, and his heart started pounding. He turned to look at Zang Ya, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Zang Ya nodded slightly toward him, as if expecting his reaction, and said, “This is the store I promised you last time.”
An Yun’s eyes suddenly widened. The surprise came so suddenly that he could hardly believe it.
Last time, Zang Ya had mentioned giving him a store, but Zang Ya never brought it up again. An Yun thought Zang Ya had forgotten about it. To his shock, not only had Zang Ya not forgotten, but he had secretly prepared such a grand store for him.
Looking around, An Yun noticed the shops next door were busy with people coming and going, their business thriving. This meant a lot of foot traffic for his store.
Zang Ya had given him such a great location just as he had promised, which made An Yun feel deeply touched.
Zang Ya didn’t seem to notice what An Yun was thinking. He took his hand and led him inside. As they walked, he said, “Let’s go, I’ll show you the layout inside, and there are some things I want you to see.”
An Yun, still held by Zang Ya, felt the grip on his hand tighten slightly.
Zang Ya led him inside, giving him a tour of the layout. It was a three-story shop, with a courtyard at the back featuring two rooms on the left and right, which was very special and spacious.
The decoration style on each floor was similar, but the details were exquisite and refined, making An Yun especially satisfied.
As the two of them descended from the third floor, An Yun noticed that, in addition to the servants who had just followed them, there were eight other people in the hall.
Perhaps An Yun’s curiosity was too evident, as Zang Ya pointed to them and introduced, “This is Xu Tang, the shopkeeper. This is the accounting agent, and the remaining six are the clerks. Take a look yourself. If you don’t need them, you can dismiss them later.”
Zang Ya’s words were light and airy, but An Yun noticed that the others were looking at him directly. Their gazes seemed laden with value, even pleading, hoping to stay in the store.
It was the first time An Yun had been the focus of so many intense, pleading stares, and it made him feel a little embarrassed. However, he decided to observe them before deciding whether to keep them or not.
An Yun expressed his thoughts to Zang Ya, who simply replied that he didn’t mind. “As long as you’re happy, you can decide however you like.”
After the introductions, Zang Ya took out two hundred taels of silver notes from his sleeve and handed them to An Yun, saying, “By the way, this is the capital for your business. Don’t worry if you lose it; happiness is what matters most.”
An Yun looked at the banknotes in his hands, then at Zang Ya, who was looking at him seriously. He felt both touched and amused. He hadn’t expected Zang Ya to go to such lengths, even considering such small details. With the store now his, An Yun felt a rush of excitement. He hugged Zang Ya tightly, overwhelmed by the gesture.
Feeling the warmth in his arms, Zang Ya was momentarily stunned, then quickly reacted and hugged An Yun back. If the place were different, he would have wanted to kiss him.
