c61 - Come to My Room Tonight
The van drove along the not-so-wide town streets.
As the engine noise hummed in her ears, Shen Han couldn’t help thinking: Those badass special agents in movies seem to be able to remember the vehicle’s direction and distance in situations like this, and even find the enemy’s base through memory later. How impressive.
She couldn’t do that.
She could only use her earring for accurate real-time positioning. This must be how technology changes lives.
She wondered how Gu Junwan was doing on her end.
Had that annoying and self-righteous commander sister caused any more trouble?
At that same moment.
The “Gu Junwan” Shen Han was thinking about was sitting upright in a makeshift office at the camp.
Two staff members stood before her, one of whom was reporting information.
“Today, the undercover group visited six locations. The situations we uncovered are similar to your previous guesses. The three households you visited yesterday for comfort are not truly impoverished.”
“In some small township enterprises, there’s still a situation of paying ‘membership fees’. If they resist, the enterprises face various routine inspections and are then shut down for rectification. Compared to the losses from work stoppage, they’d rather choose to sacrifice money to avoid disaster.”
As the first staff member finished reporting, the second immediately spoke up.
“Your Majesty, my progress hasn’t been smooth. The three local authorities are covering for each other. It may be difficult to break through in a short time.”
Gu Junwan was silent for a moment, then looked up at her two “generals”.
“Have you heard of the story ‘Two Peaches Kill Three Warriors’?”
Both honestly shook their heads.
Gu Junwan didn’t keep them in suspense, immediately relaying a short story Shen Han had once told her, using her own words to give the two a hint.
“To break their unity, sometimes you don’t need to work hard to attack head-on. Bring out something they all desperately want, and let them trample on their allies’ shoulders to compete for it.”
“Three people in the same boat, but only two have the chance to step onto a bigger stage. No one is willing to be the one pushed off the boat.”
“Skillfully use open strategies. You needn’t worry about them seeing through your intentions. As long as what you offer is something they can’t bear to give up, you just need to wait for cracks to appear between them.”
……
After the Fugui Gang’s van stopped, Wang Wei immediately turned to the two team leaders and said, “Don’t rush to take off your hoods yet. Wait until we reach the designated spot, then act uniformly according to orders.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the van door was pulled open.
An arm forcefully supported Shen Han’s elbow, leading her out of the car.
When passing some steps, the guide would verbally remind her to watch her footing.
Shen Han followed for about 10 minutes before feeling she had entered a somewhat noisy indoor space.
The vision-blocking hood was gently removed.
After adjusting to the indoor light, Shen Han squinted and began to survey her surroundings.
This was a somewhat shabby conference room, with a projection screen hanging on the front wall and a few sparse sets of tables and chairs arranged below it.
The surrounding walls were somewhat mottled, and the window frames gave off a sense of long-term disrepair.
Shen Han stood with a group of people in the middle of the conference room, most with expressions of novelty and excitement.
It seemed they didn’t come here often either.
Eight members, including Wang Wei, stood in a position closer to the front.
Their identities should all be stewards.
The main meeting participants hadn’t arrived yet, so a few lively team leaders began chatting with each other.
“How long have you been a team leader?”
“One month and five days. What about you, brother?”
“My business ability is worse. I’ve been a team leader for three months, and this is my first time coming to the branch.”
At this point, a man asked Shen Han with a smile, “What about you, team leader?”
Shen Han raised her wrist to look at her watch, then answered, “Oh, I’ve been a team leader for 5 hours and 20 minutes.”
The group of team leaders: “……”
Damn, half a day is half a day, is there a need to calculate so precisely?
To ease the atmosphere, the man who had first spoken to Shen Han quickly changed the subject.
“By the way, how much task volume has your steward set for you all for next month?”
“100,000.”
“150,000.”
“120,000.”
After everyone had spoken, it was Shen Han’s turn again.
She glanced at Wang Wei, who was talking to someone at the front, and said to the group of team leaders surrounding her, “I plan to set a small goal of 3 million for our group’s steward.”
Everyone was immediately at a loss for words.
Where did this show-off come from? Can’t we have a normal conversation anymore?
Just as things were getting awkward, one man and two women walked in from the door and, greeted by the stewards, went directly to sit at the front.
What surprised Shen Han was that the person sitting in the middle main seat was an Omega dressed like a wealthy lady.
She appeared to be around 30 years old, with fairly well-maintained skin and a light blue rhinestone attached to the corner of one eye.
When she looked up at people, the glow at the corner of her eye would flash, giving people a sense of being specially noticed by her.
Shen Han inconspicuously rotated her wrist, seizing gaps to aim her watch face directly forward.
“Let’s start the meeting. Will the stewards please report on their recent work first? After that, I’ll convey the tasks issued by the president to everyone.”
The Omega who looked like a wealthy lady spoke first, her voice exuding the composure unique to mature women.
As she spoke, Shen Han clearly felt several Alphas around her stealing glances at her.
‘It seems the one speaking should be the vice president. I wonder what kind of tasks she’ll convey to everyone later?’
Just as she was thinking this, Wang Wei’s voice suddenly piped up.
“Vice President Chen, I apologize for interrupting your meeting, but I need to report a situation to you first.”
As he spoke, Wang Wei turned sideways to look at Shen Han.
“New team leader, didn’t you want to take over my position as steward? Now I’m giving you this chance. Step out and tell the vice president yourself.”
Though set up by Wang Wei, Shen Han didn’t feel angry.
She calmly stepped out from the group of team leaders and said to the three people sitting at the front, “I am indeed a newcomer, but I believe that if given a little time, I can definitely do better than Wang Wei. I hope you, Vice President, can give me a chance.”
As Shen Han spoke, Chen Yanjiao had been observing her, a gleam flickering in her eyes.
In fact, from the moment she entered this conference room, she had already noticed that Alpha who stood out from the crowd.
Her outfit wasn’t particularly striking; in fact, the combination of the floral shirt and jeans was a bit rustic.
She was quite tall, though her skin tone was a bit dark, and her bangs were almost covering her eyes.
But some people are just like that. No matter how they try to conceal it, in the eyes of those who pay attention, their brilliance can still be seen.
In Chen Yanjiao’s view, that Alpha standing among a group of members blinded by greed had a clean aura like a crystal in river sand!
Shen Han knew that saying too much in this situation would be disadvantageous.
So, she simply followed Wang Wei’s lead.
She would first see how the vice president reacted, then respond accordingly.
Chen Yanjiao, however, didn’t follow her script.
This voluptuous and charming Omega leaned forward slightly, resting one hand gently on her cheek, and asked with a smile, “How are your abilities?”
Shen Han immediately replied, “Definitely better than Wang Wei. Just this afternoon, I’ve already achieved 40,000 in performance.”
Hearing this, Wang Wei couldn’t help but curse inwardly.
Don’t you have any shame about how much of that 40,000 business is inflated? You put in 10,000 yourself and even forcibly took a bank book from an organization member!
Now you’re brazenly reporting this to the vice president, aren’t you embarrassed?
Chen Yanjiao shook her head with a smile, “I didn’t ask about your business abilities. I’m asking about your abilities in other areas.”
As she said the last sentence, Chen Yanjiao deliberately slowed her tone.
The sexual innuendo contained in that soft voice was too obvious.
Immediately, several Alphas cast envious glances at Shen Han.
Shen Han didn’t respond, but inwardly cursed.
What the hell? Have I joined a pornographic organization?
No professional ethics at all. I’ll have my Gu Junwan wipe out your entire nest later!
Seeing the Alpha before her standing there speechless,
Chen Yanjiao asked again with a smile, “I’ll give you two choices now. One is to come to my room tonight and show me your abilities; Two is to spend the night in the warehouse with a bunch of rotten fish. Think carefully before you answer me.”
Shen Han took out her wallet, tapping it against her palm as she questioned, “You, a dignified vice president, have such a small mindset?
I came here to make money, but you keep bringing up all this messy stuff. Are you doing justice to the members who rushed here for a late-night meeting?”
Chen Yanjiao crossed her arms, leaning back slightly in her chair.
Then she turned to the two Alphas on either side and instructed, “Take her away and lock her in the warehouse.”
A group of Alphas in the venue immediately sprang into action, grabbing Shen Han’s arms and escorting her out of the conference room.
Shen Han didn’t resist at all, allowing the people around her to push her along.
On the way, she grumbled indignantly, “Tell me, is this my fault? Is this how you usually conduct meetings? I’m really disappointed!”
Several Alphas looked at her as if she were an idiot.
But inwardly, they felt somewhat sour: There are plenty of people in the Fugui Gang who want to climb into Vice President Chen’s bed. Is your brain made of rebar? You can’t bend it even a little.
These few people locked Shen Han in the warehouse, bolted the iron door, and then hurried back to the conference room to continue the meeting.
Shen Han wasn’t idle either. Seeing that there were several other people locked in this dim room, she adjusted her mindset slightly and walked towards one of them.
The next day at noon, the warehouse’s iron door was opened.
Chen Yanjiao, wearing a light dress, swayed in, followed by several bodyguard-like men.
She walked directly to Shen Han, examining the Alpha whose hair was now slightly disheveled.
For some reason, although she couldn’t smell the other’s pheromones, she still felt an urge to get closer.
“Have you thought it through after a night? Just nod, and I’ll take you out of here,” Chen Yanjiao said, reaching out to lightly caress the face before her.
Shen Han stepped back, directly avoiding the other’s touch.
She shook her head and spoke, “I don’t want to leave. Everyone here is talented and speaks so nicely. I really like it here.”
Chen Yanjiao: “……”
The group of bodyguards: “???”
