After Being Abducted and Raised by A Snake

Chapter 4

The morning sun outside was bright, and the breeze was very cool.

Wan Zhong carried a basket in one hand and fruit in the other, eating and running at the same time.

He wanted to go back to the beach where he came from, but he soon lost his way in the sun-blocking forest. Unfortunately, he was attacked by a wolf and a tiger that suddenly burst out from the bushes.

The two beasts, eyeing him simultaneously, didn’t act on their obvious greed, just locking onto him with a wary and coveted gaze, without any real action.

Time passed minute by minute.

Wan Zhong’s back was soaked with sweat, and his palms were so wet that he could hardly hold the dagger in his hand.

He looked at the grinning wolf and the confident, determined tiger. He tentatively moved his feet, and the wolf and the tiger followed suit, as if waiting for him to turn around and run, ready to pounce and tear him apart.

Even at his peak physical strength, Wan Zhong had no ability to successfully escape from being surrounded by a wolf and a tiger, especially now that he was as soft as noodles and couldn’t run at all.

Clenching the handle of the knife, in desperation, he tried to provoke them: “Why don’t you two fights? Whoever wins gets me?”

The wolf and tiger couldn’t understand human words, slowly moving closer to each other, preparing to join forces and eat him.

Wan Zhong, wet with beads of sweat, couldn’t close his eyes. He licked his lips and said awkwardly, “Two against one, it’s a bit unfair, isn’t it?”

.

During the stalemate, the wind rustled the leaves, and a strange hissing sound echoed.

Familiar with that sound, Wan Zhong’s knees weakened, stumbling backward. The wolf and tiger immediately hid behind him, eyes fixed on the giant black snake that appeared behind the bushes, winding in circles along the thick tree.

Stretching its swaggering snake body under the bright sunshine, the black snake tilted its head and spat out scarlet snake tongue like silky ribbons, looking innocent and good.

Wan Zhong’s Adam’s apple rolled, and he held hands with the wolf and tiger, hugging each other in understanding.

The black snake’s tail curled slightly, glancing at them with green vertical pupils, then suddenly opened its mouth wide, showing its big white fangs.

The basket in Wan Zhong’s hand clattered down, and he couldn’t help but exclaim, “Oh my God~”

The tiger reacted the fastest, emitting a cat-like “Meoooo~” sound, raising its belly to the sky.

But the wolf’s psychological quality wasn’t very good.

It panicked and chose its way out. In its escape, it actually knocked Wan Zhong, who was about to faint, into the tree. It was entangled by the tail of the black snake, then got swung away with limbs spread out, flying up to the sky with a sound of “Ouch!”

Then becoming a flag fluttering in the wind.

Wan Zhong clutched his stomach, hurt by the wolf’s head, and was so scared that he couldn’t breathe.

The black snake was evidently more terrifying than he thought. Even the tiger, the king of beasts, was afraid of it.

Now it was coming.

What would happen to him now?

Taking advantage of the mess with the wolf and the tiger, Wan Zhong hurriedly picked up the basket that fell on the ground, dragging his limp legs, and continued to escape.

He had no direction.

No goal either.

Just wanting to stay as far away from that snake as possible.

.

Wan Zhong, like a headless fly, didn’t know how long he had been running in the airtight forest. When he stopped, exhausted and almost vomiting blood, it was dark, and there were only three fruits left in the basket.

He fell on a lawn and gasped for air. His exposed skin was covered with mosquito bites, itchy and painful, as if stung by bees. Uncomfortable, he didn’t dare to scratch.

Wan Zhong took a short rest and he continued on the road.

He didn’t dare to stay in one place for too long, nor did he dare to stop and sleep. In this vast forest, there were too many unknown dangers and things that scared him; he didn’t dare to take them lightly at all.

If there was anything to be thankful for, the black snake didn’t catch up with him, and he didn’t encounter any wild beasts.

When the sun rose again for the third time, Wan Zhong was so tired that he couldn’t even open his eyelids. He still didn’t throw away the cumbersome basket. For no other reason than the basket was made of some unknown material, emitting a gleaming light in the dark night. It illuminated him, giving him a little courage and warmth.

There was half a snake fruit left. Wan Zhong took a small bite, then put it back into his trouser pocket, zipped it carefully, and patted it.

Although he encountered many wild fruits along the way, the trees were too high to climb, and the fruits were full of insects when opened. Moreover, all the water sources contained plankton, so he had to be careful with his last ration.

Wan Zhong took out his phone and tried it again but still couldn’t turn it on.

Despite suffering since childhood and having a tough mind, under the tremendous changes and physical and mental exhaustion, he couldn’t help but felt despair and shed a few tears.

But what was the use of crying?

Wan Zhong bit his lower lip and wiped his tears. He gave up and scratched his face and the back of her hands several times. His fingernails were sticky and full of blood.

This time he could no longer control the itch on his body, and when he wanted to scratch it again, a familiar crashing water sound came faintly in his ears.

“It’s the sea! It’s the sound of the rising tide! I’m saved now!”

Wan Zhong laughed through tears and hurriedly stumbled towards the direction of the sound of the tide, not even bothering to take the basket.

The voice sounded close, but it was still a bit far away when you actually walk.

.

When the dawn came, Wan Zhong ate the last bit of fruit in his pocket and finally walked out of the forest and returned to the seaside.

His knees went weak, and he knelt down on the beach, holding his hands on the ground and crying.

“Woo~!”

These days, Wan Zhong had a narrow escape from death, and his life was extremely exciting.

Whenever he thought he was in danger and going to die, he would always turn around at the last moment. But just when he thought everything would be fine, it often turned out to be unsatisfactory.

For example, now…

Wan Zhong thought, he would be saved by getting rid of the black snake and leaving the forest. But the reality was… there was not even a ghost on the boundless sea, and no one came to save him at all.

But no matter what, he didn’t want to go back to that dangerous forest.

Wan Zhong collapsed in the shade near the edge of the forest. He was almost going crazy from dehydration and hunger.

He tried to grab some green grass and chew it in his mouth, hoping to get some moisture and feel full, but he didn’t expect that the basket he had left in the forest suddenly fell from the sky and appeared in his hand without warning.

Wan Zhong suspected he had a mental problem, which was why he had terrible hallucinations.

But the basket could indeed be seen and touched. It was filled with bright red plump snake fruits and a golden cup filled with water.

After swallowing the water, his throat was sore. He slowly turned his head and looked around. He didn’t see the shadow of the black snake. He only saw a tree not far away that was bent and the leaves fell rustling down.

He stayed there for a long time, then realized the black snake had been following him all along. No wonder he hadn’t seen a single bird or beast in the woods these days.

Wan Zhong suddenly felt a sense of powerlessness and despair in his heart, and his shaky belief in survival collapsed.

.

He wasted no time and continued to escape, crawling on his hands and knees towards the gentle blue sea.

Thinking if he couldn’t survive either way, he might as well have a good time.

At least it didn’t hurt. There was still a whole body left.

But unfortunately, the black snake didn’t seem to want to let him go so easily.

It suddenly appeared from above the sea where he sank. Without any precaution or expectation, it came to him quietly, wrapped its long snake tail around his waist, and held him in its mouth to rise out of the sea.

Before Wan Zhong lost consciousness, all he could think about was…

The black snake’s teeth were so white.
