Chapter 13: -Chapter 11-
-3 months later-
During the following 3 months, I continued to train my troops while forming others, I was preparing for the war that was inevitably coming but that I was delaying as best as I could.
I wanted to push back the war as long as possible because I did not want to become the king of ashes, even by subduing the Baratheons and the Lannisters, I still had to deal with the revolts of Daenerys who would have in the future three dragons and possibly Viserys and my "half-brother" Aegon.
I wanted to start with the best possible advantage and I did not know how to launch because by waiting too long I could not unite the kingdom against all threats and impose myself as the only legitimate ruler of Westeros and by launching too early I risked being beaten by a coalition of all the players of the Game of Thrones and strengthening the ties between the great houses of Westeros.
No one wanted to see me on the throne not the Tyrells who had bet on Renly much more malleable, not Stannis who was just waiting for the death of his brother to be able to replace him, not Robert who would kill me upon learning that I am Rhaegar's son although he might surprise me but I do not count on it.
Cersei Jamie Tywin and all the fucking Lannisters are just waiting for an opportunity to seize the throne, the Tullys hate me and I hate them too, so neither the Vale nor the Riverlands would be ready to fight for me and Balon Greyjoy only wants one thing to fuck up even more to be able to crown himself king of the squids and squids.
Regarding the North, I am not sure I can get them to support me and even if that was the case I would probably lose against the sea of enemies that I would have made by declaring myself as Aegon VI of the name King of the Andals and the First Men, of the Rhoynars, Protector of the Realm, and Defender of the Faith.
I eliminated all the parasitic thoughts that crossed my mind and refocused on training my new recruits by yelling:
"Lift your shields you lazy bunch!!!"
I was going to continue scolding them when I saw Connor arrive at a gallop he jumped off his horse and ran towards me he said in a low panicked voice:
"The king has returned injured from his hunt"
My eyes opened wide as saucers and I said:
"What? How?"
"A boar pierced his side," he said all excited.
'Shit, Shit, Shit how could this have escaped me'
I was shocked because I had done my best to hinder my uncle's research and I did not understand how he had come to such reasoning without finding Gendry or the other bastards.
I kept whispering to myself: "I don't understand, this wasn't supposed to happen, this wasn't supposed to happen"
Connor grabbed me by the shoulders and shouted: "JON...YOU ARE NOT A GOD!!!...you can't know everything and you know it, we were not prepared for this now, but it's probably one of the best opportunities we'll ever have, you just have to say the word but you have to decide now, there's only an hour left before night falls and then everyone will start killing each other in the castle"
I took a deep breath and regained my composure, after all these years I was finally going to be able to take back what rightfully belonged to me and that scared me a little to be honest.
I said in an authoritative tone to Connor:
"Let all the men still in training be deployed in the city to patrol and ensure the safety of the city while all the soldiers of our army will close the gates and the port, no one must be able to enter, nor leave, no boat must leave Blackwater bay and everyone regardless of their rank must obey orders under penalty of immediate execution"
"Yes Commander," he said.
"Wait, I'm not finished, I want you to inform all the lieutenants that I want to see them in my tent within the next half hour"
-30 minutes later-
"Tristan I want you to imprison Littlefinger, kill all his guards and all the people who prevent you from carrying out your task, take 500 men with you to block all the exits this snake might try to take to escape," Jon said addressing one of his lieutenants.
"At your command Commander," said Tristan giving a military salute.
"Vincent and Jordy take 500 men and go capture Renly Baratheon and Loras Tyrell, I want them both alive, I will not tolerate any accidents," Jon said in a tone that promised heavy punishment or even death to anyone who disobeyed his order.
"Yes Commander," the two said in unison.
"Carvin Corian and Cedric I want you to capture all the nobles use 3000 men to carry out this mission," Jon said in a more relaxed tone.
"Yes Commander," the three said more determined than the previous lieutenants because their tasks were significantly less important and the degree of success of their mission would mean greater trust and latitude next time.
"Elric, Samwell, Dorian I want you to close all the doors use 8000 men for that,"
"Yes Commander," the three said.
"Connor you will take 500 men and you will block all the exits of the underground use your rats and all the available spies to prevent nobles from escaping," Jon said addressing one of his most loyal supporters and also one of the deadliest.
"Jonothor you will go secure my two sisters and my father with 500 men I do not want any accidents and I will not tolerate any harm being done to them," Jon said addressing the last lieutenant of his army.
"And you my Commander?" said Jonothor
"I will take the last 1000 men and go catch the Lannisters in person," Jon said drawing his sword in front of the hundred officers gathered in this room crowded with people all loyal to Jon and his purse.
"HURRAH" shouted the 150 officers gathered in the room.
