Interlude Recaps (Second Book Start!)
Desperate and seeking an end to a war they were losing an Erali expedition found and activated an ancient battleship of ancient design, the ISS Constellation. A powerful battleship built by the Solean Empire to fight a war far more terrible than any they knew and powered by an artificial intelligence that the Erali couldn’t control.. Thankfully for them, it was one they could reason with. It soon took interest in their enemy, engaging in an information campaign to uncover what they were doing and who was pulling the strings. Eventually discovering that the entire Neku Imperium had been subverted by another race known as the Iniri.
When the Constellation was ready, her AI Megumi made her move. In a single stroke she decapitated the Imperium and installed the dragon Uliera as Stewardess of the Neku Imperium. In the following two months the imperium swiftly began to shift towards something more normal. Uliera even sought out the Erali and invited diplomats to negotiate a new peace. Something acceptable to both parties that she herself would enforce. She has even found time to check on her own nest to make sure the people settled there are doing well. Happily the unexpected colonists are settling in nicely. They have good shelter, a steady supply of food, clean water and are even finding the time to engage in art and trade. Her new friend Megumi however departed the sector at this time.
In other news, thanks to knowledge traded in thanks for help with speeding the transition, the Erisay collective has begun to recreate their creators. This time the Erisay would be there as mothers and protectors to teach them and keep them safe until they were ready. Standing idly by to ensure the tragedy that led to their demise would never again be repeated.
Closer to home, the Iniri have been purged of their more harmful influences. One of the more dangerous ones was a lady named Rinara. After she was ‘killed’ her body was recovered and put to work. Her mind found its way to a nightmare chamber, where she gets to live out eternity suffering from her worst nightmares, or, well, at least until someone lets her out. Megumi only sentenced her to twenty thousand years, nothing too extreme. Let’s see what she is dreaming about.
In a dark room, a woman finds herself pinned as a creature hidden in the shadows stands over her, some of her skin in its graspers. It came from her torso, pulled from her like it had been a shirt or jacket. She stared at it in horror as it hung the skin on a hanger and then moved closer. She gasped, “Please, no! Spare me!”
Well she seems to be having fun, let's leave her to that.
As for the Erali Confederated Systems, they are doing well now that the war with the Neku is over. They have turned inward to rebuilding. It will perhaps be a while before they are back to the prosperous state they had been before, but they will emerge stronger than before thanks to some help from Megumi. Even better for them, the Dragon Uliera has sent some aid as well. Seeking to help them recover from the war. Perhaps with a few changes, she did send some priestesses.
As for the Constellation? After leaving the sector she headed for a secret outpost and reactivated it. The outpost received a few codes and a supply of energy that allowed it to come back online. It quickly began to produce new units and biotech for the Constellation. With the outpost online the Constellation proceeded to make a trip through an intergalactic gate to the Galaxy of Tem. On the Orders of an Ava Contrey who Megumi believes to be an alias for Supreme Protector Countryman she is now en route to the Niase sector in the galaxy of Tem. Where she has been ordered to deal with a race of rogue assimilator-type machines and seal an interdimensional rift. Sadly she has precious little information on them, but from what she does know it sounds like a more aggressive response will be needed. What form that will take remains to be seen, but soon perhaps she will learn.
