Adventures of an Ancient Space Battleship

Interlude Oricala

Kiru stretched after standing up. Looking over to Megumi she inquired, “What is so interesting about this world? It’s just a bunch of primitives.”

Megumi giggled, “Not exactly. Those are humans down there.”

“Humans? What’s the big deal about that race?”

“Well they went extinct over four million years ago. The species is native to the galaxy of Oricala but my creators recreated them tens of thousands of years ago. It seems someone reseeded them in this area. I’m studying this variation of the species. The green skin is certainly new, they are typically either beige or tan. Supposedly there was a brown variation as well, but I’ve never seen it.”

“I see,” then she frowned, “Wait, isn’t Oricala ancient solean for origin?”

“Close, there is a bit more meaning to it than that. It actually means ‘our common origin’, as it’s rooted in an old dialect of Ancient Solean.”

“I doubt everyone came from the same galaxy.”

“Well no you didn’t come from Oricala, but that particular language was shared between the three races. The Soleans, the Terrans, and the Cavalonians. Each of these species are cousins with a shared history and a common origin.”

“Three species from the same planet?”

Megumi nodded, “They are, but differing domains. The Soleans were creatures of the Sky, the Terrans creatures of the land and the Cavalonians preferred the depths of the underground.”

“Interesting,” she scratched an ear, “So these humans came from the same galaxy?”

“They did. In fact all three races owe much to humans who taught them when they were but young children. From humanity, the three races inherited the knowledge of many things including spaceflight and interstellar travel. They taught them many things beyond that as well. In many ways the humans were the parents of the three races and like any child the three races were saddened when their parents passed.”

Kiru looked back at the globe below, “So they tried to resurrect them?”

“Many times have they. The Soleans are masters of the biosciences. Extracting the common genomes the three races shared with humanity and using them to recreate the race was easy. Humans have been seeded on many worlds and in many galaxies, but they aren’t the only younger race to have been seeded like this.”

“I see, so you said green skin wasn’t normal with humans? Why are these humans...”

“Green-skinned? I’m pretty sure it has to do with their star.”

“Plausible, we have noted a relation between skin coloration and the spectral frequency of stars. On a different note, how long is this study going to take?”

“Longer than we can afford. I’m going to be building some observation posts and deploying some science drones to the surface. They can conduct the study without me and beam updates to me with time. I’m sure the study will be quite illuminating.”

Kiru smiled then yawned, “Sounds like a plan. Think you will be done come morning?”

“Almost, enjoy your rest.”

Kiru nodded and left the bridge. It had been a long day for her. There was a lot they needed to do. Megumi had started discussing with her the basics of what this mission would entail.
