Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Come Forth, Rider!
Mount Ryuudou.
All the magicians and members of the protective squads had already withdrawn from this location. At this moment, the only ones remaining were Roy and Tohsaka Rin.
The overcast sky had unknowingly cleared, revealing a bright and seemingly eternal full moon.
Strangely, tonight's moon was eerily similar to the one they had seen that other night.
The air was thick with the scent of curses, and the surface of the skin tingled as though electrified, causing a constant, sharp sting.
Roy's expression remained unchanged, treating this level of curse as insignificant.
Tohsaka Rin, too, stiffened her neck and held her ground. As a magician, how could she yield before a curse of this degree?
The two climbed the pitch-black stone steps, ascending to a barren, flat expanse of land.
This seemed to be the former site of the Ryudou Temple, which had been burned down in the fire ten years ago and had since remained in this desolate state.
"Finally, you've come! This king was growing impatient!"
Gilgamesh appeared before them, arms crossed, his arrogance as evident as before.
It seemed he had been waiting on this empty ground for quite a while.
"King of Heroes," Roy stepped forward, positioning himself in front of Tohsaka Rin.
"Oh? Planning to take on this king alone?"
Seeing this, Gilgamesh's smile grew even more delighted.
"I thought you might seek the help of the other Servants. But no matter how many you gather, they're nothing before this king. Surely, after our previous clash, you've understood this truth deep in your bones."
"Indeed. Against a Servant of your caliber, one cannot hope for anything less than forces beyond expectations," Roy nodded solemnly, agreeing completely with Gilgamesh's assessment.
If it were the King of Heroes from the original worldline, perhaps a fully capable Archer EMIYA would have some chances against him. But this Gilgamesh was clearly not the same as the one from that timeline.
Though his demeanor was as haughty as ever, there was now a trace of seriousness deep within him.
As evidence, his earlier ability to summon thousands of Gates of Babylon at once was something unheard of in a standard Holy Grail War.
"Where is Kotomine Kirei?" Roy asked in a low voice.
"Is he the detonator for the Greater Grail again this time?"
"Oh, it seems you know quite a lot!" Gilgamesh narrowed his eyes, his expression tinged with amusement.
"Like you, I know far more than you might imagine," Roy grinned, his smile deliberately provocative.
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Excellent!" Gilgamesh roared with laughter, not in anger but in genuine delight.
"Kotomine is in the underground cavern. That little girl has ties to him, doesn't she? Go on, this king has no interest in you and won't stop you."
Tohsaka Rin bit her lip.
This arrogant attitude made her want to punch him in the face.
In her mind, she repeatedly pummeled Gilgamesh before sprinting toward the cave in the rear mountain.
"Rin, when facing Kotomine Kirei, don't lose your composure, even with what happened ten years ago."
"I got it!"
With those words, Tohsaka Rin disappeared from sight.
Roy watched her retreating figure, secretly worried. But with Archer by her side, it should be fine… probably.
All he could do now was wish Tohsaka Rin good luck.
Honestly, Roy didn't have many cards left to support her.
To deal with Gilgamesh, he needed to give it his all!
"Now then, it's just this king and you," Gilgamesh finally bared his fangs, no longer holding back now that there were no interferences.
A malicious smile spread across his face as he casually raised a hand. In an instant, dozens of golden ripples appeared around him.
"Let this king see how you plan to hold him back!"
With a snap of his fingers, dozens of Noble Phantasms shot out like arrows from the golden ripples, hurtling toward Roy without mercy. If Roy didn't defend himself, he would undoubtedly be turned into a pincushion.
As the rain of Noble Phantasms approached, Roy remained motionless.
"As you wish!"
A low hum resounded.
Before the projectiles could reach him, a massive banner materialized before Roy.
The banner waved, and countless golden lotus flowers emerged from the void, encircling him like a protective formation. The Noble Phantasms were effortlessly deflected.
"Oh?" Gilgamesh's face showed surprise.
He scrutinized the massive banner, approximately six or seven meters tall and resembling an ancient Chinese military flag. Adorned with a golden dragon, it exuded an aura of grandeur and mystery.
"A divine… no, an immortal treasure?"
Gilgamesh seemed to realize something and appeared even more pleased.
"Good, that's more like it! If you had died easily, this king would have been very displeased!"
Standing beneath the banner, Roy grasped its pole firmly.
This banner was something Roy had heard of even before summoning it.
It was said to have been crafted from the five lotus leaves of the primordial Green Lotus during the creation of the world. Known as the Wuji Apricot-Yellow Banner, it was one of the Five Banners of the Heavens and Earth, alongside the Plain Cloud Realm Flag, the Flaming Bright Flag, the Azure Lotus Banner, and the Black Tortoise Carving Flag.
Originally belonging to the Taoist Supreme Deity, Yuan Shi Tian Zun, it had been bestowed upon Jiang Ziya during the Investiture of the Gods to serve as his protection. When unfurled, it conjured countless golden lotuses, repelling all evils and rendering the wielder impervious to harm.
However, now that this artifact had appeared, its owner was no longer a mystery.
"Come forth, Rider!" Roy raised his right hand, marked with Command Seals, and shouted.
Simultaneously, a figure in ornate robes appeared, as if responding to his call.
The man had an ethereal beauty, exuding an air of divinity. His fox-like eyes, brimming with wisdom, curved into a faint smile.
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha! I see now! So, it's the ancient Zhou dynasty's strategist! I was wondering where your confidence came from, and it turns out you've summoned someone like this. And to think you kept him hidden until now—commendable!"
Gilgamesh laughed heartily, his face full of pleasant surprise.
Above Mount Ryuudou, countless familiars circled the sky.
They belonged to various magicians of Fuyuki City, including those under the Mage's Association, Bazett, and even Tohsaka Rin and Illyasviel, who were observing from the Aozaki mansion.
At this moment, the pinnacle confrontation was about to unfold before all of Fuyuki City's magicians!
