A Regressed Villain: Heroines, Villainesses and Me?

Chapter 76: Chapter 78 - Avendial's First Kill (2)

His father was the director of one of the biggest hospitals in City A. Given how several politicians and influential people came here for their treatment, his connections were strong enough to deal with any consequences. In anger, he loosened his grip before trying to grab her hand to make her see sense while talking to him.

Sckhlt!

'.....' The sharp sound of flesh tearing echoed through the hallway, freezing everyone in place.

'?!?!'

Eyes widened in disbelief as they tried to process the sight before them. A doctor stood mid-motion, his hand outstretched toward the woman in black, frozen in time.

Beside her, a man in a suit calmly held a pen, its tip embedded deep in the doctor's right temple.

Blood trickled down slowly from the wound, the gruesome realization settling in—Dr. Fredi was dead, his brain instantly severed, collapsing to the floor in chilling silence.

THUD

Silence~

The entire hallway fell into a dead silence for a heartbeat before chaos erupted.

"D-dr. Fr-fredi..." The nurses, who had been following Dr. Fredi just moments before, stopped dead in their tracks, their faces pale and frozen with shock. They couldn't comprehend what had just happened.

One of them dropped her clipboard, the loud clatter startling several others, but not a single person moved to pick it up.

"Wha—what the hell?! He... he killed him!" a nurse stammered, her voice shaking as she instinctively grabbed the arm of a colleague next to her, gripping tightly.

"Is this real? Did that just happen?!" A doctor who had been filling out paperwork near the reception area stood with wide eyes, mouth agape, his pen falling from his hand.

Several hospital staff were rooted to the spot, their faces twisted with fear and confusion. Some stepped back instinctively, their eyes darting between the lifeless body of Dr. Fredi and the man in the suit, who remained eerily calm.

"Someone do something! Call the police!" one of the receptionists screamed, her chair toppling over as she tried to stand, hands shaking violently. Experience new tales on m v|l e'm,p| y- r

"He's not... he's not moving... Dr. Fredi's not moving!" a nurse whimpered, her knees buckling as she leaned against the wall for support. Her breath came in short, rapid gasps as she stared at the blood pooling beneath the doctor.

"Why would he... why would he do that?!" someone else cried out from the crowd that had gathered, their voice thick with panic.

"Eh?" Aecilia thought as she looked blankly towards the direction where just moments ago Dr. Fredi was stretching his hand toward her. She had been preparing to give him a body slam, but now she saw something incomprehensible.

The moment she was about to lift herself and grab Fredi's outstretched hand, she saw a shadow before a sharp pain pierced a vital organ, breaking the skull and entering Fredi's brain. Without hesitation, a murder was committed by none other than Marquess Avendial Croceaus.

'Fuck,' only one thought echoed through her mind.

Unlike her blank gaze, not understanding why Avendial killed someone, the state of the hospital had turned into chaos.

"Run! Run before he kills us too!" a woman shrieked from the back, pushing her way through the stunned crowd, her heels clicking frantically against the tiled floor as she bolted toward the exit.

Several of the hospital staff who had gathered around remained in shock, staring blankly at the scene, unable to process what had just unfolded before their eyes.

"Get away from him! Everyone, back up!" a security guard shouted, finally breaking out of his frozen stupor.

He tried to approach, but his hands were trembling, and he stopped just short of the man in the suit, clearly terrified.

The problem was due to forced penetration without hesitation; as the pen entered Fredi, blood splattered around the man's face, including the silver hair that now had small blood stains, making him appear like a demon with that calm face.

The frantic voice of another staff member broke through the confusion. "Call security! Where's security?!"

"This... this can't be happening here..." one of the older nurses whispered, her body trembling as she took a small step back, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Somebody call an ambulance!" a doctor shouted, instinct taking over, though the absurdity of his statement quickly became clear. "Wait... we're in a hospital... Oh my God!"

The scene had become a spectacle, with hospital visitors and patients alike slowly crowding the area, their faces etched with horror and disbelief. One of the janitors, who had been sweeping near the entrance, stood paralyzed, gripping his broom so tightly his knuckles turned white.

No one dared to approach.

'It was a good decision to bring that guy into this hospital.' Ignoring the reaction of everyone present, Avendial calmly looked down at the dead body of Fredi with his eyes wide and bloodied, and veins visible due to pain, which was so fleeting since death caught up to him much sooner.

Lifting his pen, which was drenched in blood, he placed it in his pocket, considering it a memento he needed to prepare for the future. Taking out a handkerchief from his pocket, he with a steady movement wiped his face, which had stains of blood, before glancing toward Aecilia. "Are you alright?"

"Huh? Yes, I am," Aecilia said, facing the dead body lying near her. As the blood seeped and was about to touch her heels, she stood without caring and walked across the floor. After standing beside Avendial, and as if trying to navigate the situation, she acted, "Th-thank you for saving me, Marquess."

Gasp

"Did she just say Marquess?"

All the people who had witnessed the whole event were standing in their place, looking towards their direction while focused on Avendial. The moment they heard him being referred to as Marquess, they all glanced at each other, feeling a sense of confusion wash over them.

"Oh my god, no, right? What should we do?" Thinking about the situation where a man who had claimed to be the Marquess had just killed another person, and I thought the person was the head of the hospital. One was shocked before soon enough the security entered holding the tasers and guns, constantly pointing them towards Avendial's direction.

"Hands up! Don't move!" Due to being in a free city with a government that allowed the use of licensed guns, a few of them were holding guns pointing directly towards Avendial. Standing around Avendial, there were four security guards holding guns that appeared like antiques, which most probably wouldn't even fire, but still, they were enough to threaten him.

"Really?" Aecilia, standing behind Avendial, observed the guns being pointed at them by four of the security personnel who were aiming their weapons.

Even though it was clear that Avendial was at fault for killing someone in front of so many people, did it really matter?

It was a clear murder of an innocent doctor, with so many eyewitnesses clearly seeing the whole event; even CCTV cameras were available in the hall, capturing everything in high quality.

But,

Not even the president of the Free Cities could touch a single hair on the head of the man who was clearly a murderer, with enough proof to prove his guilt.

Indeed, even after killing someone in front of so many people, Avendial would not face any repercussions from the central government—a privilege granted to nobles within the Arinphiam Empire.

He was immune to punishment for any crime under the normal rules.
